Thanks to the time change, we got an early start today. Breakfast at Denny’s, followed by yet another trip to Lowe’s. I needed a corner bead and a switchplate for the new bathroom switches, and **FCD **needed some hinges.
When we got home, before I could do my mudding, we had to remove the medicine cabinet. Guess what we found under it?? Apparently, the Easts LOVED contac paper. The darker stuff in the middle was under the lighter stuff that I showed you a week or so ago. Can you imagine an entire bathroom done in that stuff??
First round of mudding done. Tomorrow, I’ll sand and do a second coat.
Second load of laundry is washing. Pot roast is in the crock pot. Shortly, I will put all the crap back in the linen closet. Then, um, maybe I’ll knit some more? I dunno…
It’s chilly and drizzly and grey and generally ick outside. **FCD **has a fire going in the garage as he’s building the light hood for his aquarium. I may got out there to warm up. Or I could put on a sweater. Or something…
Well, I slept longer than I planned to, but at least it was a solid, uninterrupted sleep and no twitchiness, so all is well. Most of the clocks in my house changed automatically, which is good, but I still have to do a couple of the older ones.
Gotta put up a shelf attached to my computer desk today so I finally have a place to put the breakout box for my sound card. (It’s huge) And of course there’s laundry to do. Sunday is always laundry day.
What I need right now is caffeine, so I shall return after I have made my coffee run.
I bought what was supposed to be a sealed copy of Ice Age 2 on Blu Ray at Cash Converters last weekend. (They sell used stuff, mostly) I just opened it up 'cos the wife wanted to watch it, and inside was a blank DVD with a paper copied label slapped on the disk. The security seal at the bottom was intact, and the package was sealed – though ordinary shrinkwrap, not the fancy fold-and-glue sort you normally see. So, someone went through all the trouble of carefully opening up a Blu Ray movie, removing the disk, printing out a label and applying it to a blank DVD, then putting it back in the case and taking it to Cash Converters to sell … for $5 at best.
And I bought it for $20.
I am full of grr. Not entirely because of the money, but because of the sheer stupidity and utter waste of time someone went through to pass off a scam for a measly $5, which they probably paid more for in the label, ink, and gas to get there and back.
I did call them to alert them to this problem and they said they’d see what they can do. I hope they check the rest of their sealed Blu Rays to make sure they’re legit.
It’s been a productive day at Chez Muppet. The Boy woke up early to go to the office (earlier than planned, as a matter of fact, because he forgot that the clocks changed overnight). As for me, I’ve been puttering around for most of the day, tidying up the house and doing some baking… I’ve been working on my entry for Foodie Fights: Battle Bulghur and Pumpkin. I ate some for lunch, and it’s actually quite tasty, if I do say so myself.
Sucky about the Blu Ray, Mindy. Seems like people will pull all sorts of stupid nonsense to make a buck, often without thinking as to whether they’ll actually be making any money once it’s all said and done… I guess for some, knowing they pulled a fast one if reward enough?
Time to go do some vacuuming. I hate vacuuming, but with two cats and two hairy humans, there’s really no choice about it. I’ve left it too long as it is… the dust bunnies are now dust ponies.
I’ve reloaded the linen closet - it looks much bigger since it’s clean shiny white inside. Plus I threw some stuff away as I was sorting. The third load of laundry is in the dryer - it’s the last I’m doing today. And I cut up a bunch of veggies and added them to the crock pot. In 2 hours, we should be sitting down to a nice pot roast.
The punkin pie I made yesterday is muy yum! I’ve also learned that a double batch makes 3 regular (not deep dish) pies. Good to know.
Just took the doggies out for their necessaries. I noticed how bright it is in our woods, thanks to many nekkid trees. Plus you can’t see our driveway for all the leaves. It’s supposed to be dry this week, so I’m hoping to get out there with the mulcher-vac and start cleaning it all up. rah.
Scruffy doesn’t grasp this whole change-the-clocks deal. According to her stomach, I’m half an hour late feeding her. She is not pleased. Sucks to be a dog in this house.
Done funeralizing for this weekend. Will there be one next, for a 3-fer?
The indignity of it all. Henry, that deceased SOB, baptized me again, and this time from beyond the grave. I’ve told y’all how he got me with the tanker overflow the first night I ever went to a department training exercise… Well, today, it was beyond standing room only at the service, and guess who stood out in the rain.
I’m not speaking ill of the dead. If he were still around, he’d be laughing his fool head off right about now…
Oh well. Now I gotta shampoo carpet again. Damned pooppies.
Hey all. I’ve been kinda laying low the past several days. Sickie, not swine flu sickie, but sickie sicker than I’ve been in a while. I’m still queasy feeling. Today all I’ve had is a couple of soft boiled eggs and some toast. I’ve got some chicken noodle soup and crackers for later. Must return to work tomorrow.
At any rate, that’s why I’ve been so quiet… still lurking and reading, but just not feeling much like typing. Heh. Rosie’s sig will have to suffice for now, I’m a-feared.
Pot roast was yum. I is stuffded. Dishwasher is washing. Pie (N.O.P.) later. I called my kid - they should be leaving Orlando shortly, driving till they’re tired, then stopping for the night and getting home tomorrow afternoon.
I think I should assume the knit position. Or do another puzzled. Something.
Howdy Y’all! It’s weird, being almost six pm and gettin’ dark out. Still, I got an extra hour in my weekstart so I ain’t complainin’.
After a very large church service (the works! incense and everything!) and a huge brunch afterwards, I came home and mowed da yahd. After that I took a nap. After that I went down the street to the sto’ and got me a strawberry Icee cause I woke up jonesin’ for one. Weird.
Swampy, at 1800 it has been dark here for about a hour.
Off to the MD’s in the morning, the left side of my face between the lips and the lower eye lid is all swolen—I look like the Joker without the clown paint. I need to have a Come to Jesus talk with his office anyway, the last batch of scrips they called in had half going to the wrong and more expensive place, and one other for the wrong quanity. Maybe they need their ears cleaned out.
With the time change, at least Vorlon Jr. will be walking to chool after sunrise, which is about 0615 tomorrow
Back from shoppin’. Went to go find Ice Age 2 on Blu Ray from a more reputable place, but they didn’t have it. So instead we bought a crapload of discount Halloween junk. It’ll probably last a good long time around here.
Still getting used to this dark-at-5:30pm thing.
@Mahna[sup]2[/sup] - That’s what baffles me. Guy must have paid $30 or more new for the movie, then went to all that trouble just to pull a fast one to get back 1/6th of the price or less. It’s just incomprehensibly retarded. sigh
I got nuttin’ to report but this is the MMP so that does not matter.
TV (what? it’s a nickname in progress!) ummmm… a doc who sends scrips for the wrong quantity? Just, wow, I’m sayin’. Hope whatever’s goin’ on with your face is ok.
Hmmm… I’m not sure that TV will work because I just thought, what, has swampy been talking to TVMan this evening?
I’m still queasified (yep, it’s my word) this evening. I took a nap hoping to ward it off, but no such luck. Maybe I should just go back to bed pretty soon.
Having computer problems again. Grrrrrrrrr. Now it says my copy of Vista isn’t genuine. Please tell the nice people at HP that. And of course I can’t read the product key which HP cleverly put on the bottom of my laptop, right where it can easily fade from being, well, on my lap all the time. I could swear I wrote it down at some point, but can I find the number? No. So it looks like I might have to buy it from the nice HP people. Did I mention grrrrr? :(
So, if you don’t hear from me during the week, it’s because the computer is mad at me. I so want a Mac again.
