Because We Can Never Get Enough… It’s A Monty Python MMP

{{{Nava}}} I am so sorry for your loss. Your cousin, your family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hab a code. ICK!!! I started feelin’ it on Wednesday. Well, the sniffles. Yesterday after neighbor left I started feelin’ achy and stuffy. By last night it was a full blown cold. I’ve been in bed most of the day so far and plan on goin’ back real soon. Stoopid cold.

Time for some more code medicine.

Later Y’all!

Hope you get over the cold quickly, Swampy. My son as an awful cold too.

I forgot to mention with all the activities planned for this weekend, my daughter’s long distance “friend” arrives tonight. He’s the one escorting her to the ball tomorrow night. We’ve already talked to our daughter (again) about making sure she has some protection in case some hanky-panky occurs.

She laughed at us and told us that dress was too hard to get on to even think about taking it off for something like that. At any rate, we’ve talked to her and hope she acts wisely. She’s eighteen, and for the most part, has a very good head on her shoulders.

I’ll try to remember to post some pictures of my daughter when she’s in the dress tomorrow.

There was something else I was going to write, but it has entirely slipped my mind. It must not have been important.

Dagnabbit! I keep sneezing! I better not be catching a cold!

Well, playtime is over. Time to dragout the steamcleaner. I know you envy my exciting plans for the day. Who wouldn’t love steamcleaning a carpet?

Why oh why did I get fish and chips for lunch? I knew I’d regret it, but I still went ahead and did it anyways.

Now my insides feel all greasy and queasy. :frowning:

Whew! Front hallway has been vaccuumed, spot scrubbed and steamcleaned. I must say it looks very good.

I should do the greatroom now, but I need to take a shower and get ready for my daughter to come home. We need to head to the mall yet again because she’s still looking for the perfect necklace and pair of earrings to wear with her formal dress.

I still have so much more cleaning to do though…what to do…what to do…

{{{Nava}}}
We got 59 minutes, so I’m home early. I’ve got a load of towels in the washer and the dog’s afghans in the dryer. The kids just got back from errands. So begins my holiday weekend.

Taz is on The List. He was going into our closets this morning, and I yonked him out because he’s been treating FCD’s dirty clothes basket as a litter box. So what did evil kitteh do? He peed on Bernie’s afghans. The brat! Which is why the afghans had to be laundered.

Stoopit cat.

Gonna be a busy weekend, getting the basement ready for demolition. rah.

we’re getting an hour, but due to the work load we’re not allowed to take it today  so next week, we each get to pick one day to take that hour. Color me joyous. woo. ( again)

The dust will be there when you get back.

Is there a way to clean carpets without a steamcleaner? The bedrooms in my apartment are carpeted with some cheap, stiff fabric (not shag carpeting) and usually a vacuum is all they need, but when the roof leaked the water left some stains (and a funky smell). I suppose the landlord, technically, should be the one worrying about this, but it takes him forever to get anything done, and if there’s a cheap way I’d rather just do it myself.

I’d say “bad Muppet,” but it sounds like a case of “getting the punishment with the sin,” so sending y’all get-well vibes instead. That’s Mahna[sup]2[/sup], swampie, Our Taters, kai and anybody else I’ve forgotten and who’s under the weather.

We’ve gotten calls from people we hadn’t seen in 18 years. That’s cool as all get-go if it wasn’t for the reason they’re calling, but the next one who wants to play 20 questions rather than telling me when exactly did we met (which we did the ginormous amount of times known as “once”) may get a surprise visit and a mobile phone shoved down his throat. Why, oh why do people do that?

Lilbro has been able to talk with one of Iñaki’s brothers, they’ll give us a call when they know what is being organized and when. Mom is in Organizer mode, which is actually the best options of her two possible reactions to bad news but still kind of weird. I have a slab of granite (a piece of countertop) in which Middlebro needs to cut away a piece, it’s from my flat and currently sitting in my car; she wanted Middlebro to cut it right away. Uhm… nooooot a good time to be handling sharp rotating tools, Mom. Promise. He’ll do it another day, eh?

Haze, there used to be some stuff you could spray on your carpet, kind of like a foam. You’d scrub it in with a sponge mop and let it dry. After that, you’d use your regular vaccuum cleaner.

I think Resolve made it. They may still make it, I don’t know. However, I would suggest treating the spots first, and then attempting the foam cleaner.

All that being said, it’s usual for the landlord to have to clean the carpet before new tenants move in. Well, at least in these parts.

In the end, you could always rent a steam cleaner from a supermarket or something, though.

ETA: To add Haze’s name, so she would know I was replying to her.

Nava you put so eloquently into words such wisdom about following one’s calling. I am so very sorry that your cousin lost the battle, but that he will be laid to rest in the mountains he loved so much is fitting. My prayers are with you and your family.

lili Mr. Lissar is a good friend.

herbs and muppet, Niki is my Big Dawg Daddy, all four pounds of him! The fish was a smallish king salmon, so yes, there were bigger fish that got away. The look on his face was priceless, he did not want to be close to the sea monster! smartie that is priceless, and is my new wallpaper in the 'puter, thanks for the grin.

Poor Blaze. I hope that he is gonna be fine, rebo. What sort of dog is he? (breed or mix, big or small) Also, if the chicken recipe turns out, please share, it sounds wonderful.

Spaz. . . bombs? I think I missed something. And yes, the fish was very tasty. And free. I don’t know what everyone else pays for king salmon, but that one was so fresh it was still twitching, mmm.

beebs you crack me up, calling everyone day walkers! I tend to be nocturnal, I always preferred to work the night shift myself too, and dinner was at 8 am and breakfast at 8 pm, so I know how it is. btw, Hi!

Spring and summer colds are always the worse, take care (pamper) yourself bear o’ the swamp.

Ima gonna go lie back down, it’s spruce pollen season right now, soon to be followed by alder pollen, and I have a headache. I dosed up on Benedryl and expect to become dozy very soon. Have a good Firday all.

Ta!

What should I use? Soap & water? Baking soda? Just water and a rag?

Haze, Try This.

Haze, they sell all kinds of spot treating products at the grocery store. Just go to the cleaning section.

The link that **McCune ** posted is good. However, the warning about getting all the detergent out of the carpet is a good one. It will draw dirt like a magnet and make the carpet sticky.

Finally, you might also go where they sell vaccuum cleaners/steam cleaners, such as Lowes or Best Buy. They have all kinds of carpet cleaning products. I know that Bissell makes a granular type of stuff that you just sprinkle on your carpet and let sit for a bit. Then you dry vaccuum.

Well, the greatroom has been steamcleaned too. Too bad the rest of my house looks like crap right now. I need to get in the shower and cleaned up. The morning has just flown by.

Thanks, McUne and Taters. I think I’ll look at Jewel, and if I can’t find anything I’ll try the detergent method.

Leftover pasta for lunch! Yum.

GRRRRRRRR.

So I’m working in the office today, where I used to work for 5 years. I left to be part-time and a Teaching Assistant. More money, less hours, works for me. I’m happy there. Now I have a 2-year Administrative Assistant degree, and that is what got me the job for the Teaching Assistant, that and my computer knowledge.

Anyway, everyone keeps asking me “When are you going back to school?” They asked me this before I left and I smiled and said I wasn’t planning on it. Now they are being more forceful, nice-ish way to push me to go back to school.

Yes, I realize that my employer will reimburse my tuition, but it has to be signed by a manager and follow all these other rules. What I was toying with was to go back to school for photography, but that isn’t covered.

But they said that it would be “great advancement opportunities” for me if I were to go back for my 4-year degree. I don’t really want to go back for a 4-year degree and all of the stress that would go with it. Plus I never want to be manager.

Bottom line is that I’m happy with where I’m at. If I want to ever go back to school I realize that is an option for me and pursue it. But why do they feel the need to force upon me their feelings that I need to go back to school??

[from emo corner of angst and eyeliner] I FEEL YOUR PAIN. [/emo corner]

MCUNE, bottom line is you do what makes you happy…period.

I had a previous employer who was also willing to pay tuition for me. I went for two semesters. While I would love to earn an degree, that just wasn’t the right time for me.

My kids were little, I was working from 7:00 to 5:00 and then going to school. I wouldn’t get home until 10:00, then I’d have homework to do. I’d get up at 5:00 the next morning and it would start all over again.

I missed out on lots of stuff that my kids did. I also never saw them except for first thing in the morning. I really did not like it. In the end, I decided to put it off. Here we are, though, 7-8 years later, and I still haven’t gone back. It seems like real life just keeps interfering.

Well, I’ve taken my shower and I’m eyeing my staircase thinking it could use a good steam cleaning too. It would be nice for it to look really good so my daughter can make a nice entrance down the staircarse in her formal.

Hmmmm, I dunno. It takes forever to do the damn stairs. I’ve got two steps, a landing, then another five or so steps and a landing, and finally another 8 or so steps and the hallway upstairs. Decisions, decisions…

ETA: Because I can’t form sentences or use the proper words in the right place…

That’s really annoying, McUne. If you’re happy, then stay where you are.

Nava, my sympathies. And thank you for your eloquence.

I still have the damned clogged duct, and it’s starting to get sore. Furious nursing/pumping/massage/hot water doesn’t seem to get anywhere. I hope nothing traumatic happens to it over the weekend. Bleh.

It’s a nice day, though. It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend. Yard salingand trying to ignore the crowds who show up around here on nice weekends.

Woot! I got on the scale today for the first time in a couple of weeks. I’ve lost 31 pounds. I can’t believe it. I’m a pound and a half away from another milestone marker on the scale. Another 15 to 20 pounds and I’ll be good to go.

Well, off to clean the stairs. Li-Li, maybe you send **QD ** here to help with the cleaning. She’s the one who likes to tidy up and organize right?
