Because We Can Never Get Enough… It’s A Monty Python MMP

Well, boo for underappreciation… ::whaps Mr. Soapy one upside the head::

I’ve been loafing a bit, talked to my brother for a while (he was on his way home from the airport) and then to mom. Now I’m kinda sleepy, but need to finish getting ready for tomorrow; I need to be out the door by 7:15 a.m. because we’re going plant shopping, yet again. I probably won’t buy much, but it’s one of my favorite places, so i have to go look, at least (it’s an hour or so from here).

Wow - that’s excellent progress, Taters!

Yeah…degrees aren’t the right thing for everyone. No reason to go there if it’s not going to lead you down the career path you want.

Innuendo? Here? I’m shocked. See? ------------>

Guess I’d better figure out what I’m packing for lunch tomorrow.

I’m sure there was more I wanted to say, but I’ve forgotten…maybe I’ll remember tomorrow.

Hugs to all…

GT

Soapy, our dear Swampy has it right. I have been trying to eat more healthily and I’ve been pretty religious about working out. Frankly, I mainly cook recipes out of a Weight Watchers Flex points cookbook. Most everything we’ve tried has been pretty good.

Now, that’s not to say we don’t fall off the wagon. Also, up until last weekend when we totally blew it, we allowed ourselves one night a week to either eat out or eat fast food.

Oh, the preciatatin’ burns calories too.

**Swampy, ** I didn’t end up steamcleaning the entire house. My daughter got home from school and I ran her to the mall to pick up jewelry to wear to tomorrow night’s Senior Ball. We finally found some jewelry that would work. It’s not what either of us had in mind, but it’ll do.

I suppose I should get dinner started. Tonight it’s taco salad. I’m considering this our cheat night. It’ll still be somewhat low fat as I make it with ground turkey breast. I also bought low fat sour cream and low fat cheese, so it won’t be totally sinful. I also bought fat free refried beans.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss, Nava. :frowning:

Home on time (well, only half hour late) and traffic wasn’t bad (of course, the traffic going to Michigan was horrid, but no one wants to spend Memorial Day weekend in the southern suburbs of Chicago. They just don’t know what they’re missing.)
My new comforter came today! Yay! It looks so purty on my bed. Here is a pic of it:

my new comforter

I refuse to pay such big bucks for pillow shams so will go to Joanne Fabrics tomorrow to get some fabric and make them. I don’t have that bed or bed skirt (our bed is dark wood–forget which kind… maybe maple or cherry?), the walls are a shade lighter than the gold in the pic, and the trim is white. Shades are a dark green. It looks nice.

I hope everyone has a safe and good Memorial Day holiday. I heard a good thing on NPR on the way home: there is a group who travel around the country with some “portable art” depicting the number of soldiers lost to the Iraq war. They display pairs of boots–for IL, there are 144 of them. It really seems to bring home the message of our loss to people who see it. I would like to see it before it goes to the next city (sorry, didn’t catch where it’s headed). The sad thing, they added 4 pairs of white boots to it today. White boots represent those soldiers who made it home (or not) and committed suicide. :frowning:

Walter Jacobson (on NPR this morning–I was parked on the Bishop Ford for 40 minutes while they cleared an accident) had a good editorial the Iraq war and remembering, not the dead, but the maimed and disabled due to the conflict this year.

Kinda thoughtful this year re Mem Day.

I’m reminded of our soldiers everyday because I work with them. I see the wounded in our hospital and have chatted with several of them. Some of them have suffered some horrendous things both physically and emotionally while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

We have a special battalion set up for our wounded warriors and every effort is made to ensure they receive the care they are entitled to. Every day, we look for at ways to improve the care they care they receive and the speed with which it is delivered.

I need to start cooking. I had no idea how late in the evening it is.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hello peeps. I was playing some Rock Band, but Enter Sandman killed my hand and now it is sore. Then I was watching some dumbass reality crap on MTV until the stupidity became too much to bear. And now I am hungry. 'Scuse me.

Swirling lights are candles on fire
The turtle weeps for the gulls
The hum of the computer moniter,
Burns my loins, like the dust
Of a million cigarette butts
And your butt, it burns my loins too

Your resident epic poet,
**beebs ** (5/24/08)

I can print that post and mail out signed copies to anyone who wants one.

Only $14.95 plus the cost of a stamp.
(What’s a stamp these days, like $1.69 or something?)

Skim, skim, skim… :frowning:

{{{Nava}}}

That’s all for now… the rest of you will have to make do with generic yays, boos (and innuendos ;))

(((((Nava)))))

Huh. That was… epic, beebs.

It’s very early. Go back to sleep, kid.

My first thought when I saw you had posted was, of course: “Oh, no, Nat’s awake really early, isn’t he?” Poor LiLi. Hopefully, he’ll soon learn the art of sleeping in.

I’m awake (5:2x seems to be my auto-wake-up time these days) and thought I’d get up so that I can get ready to go. I’ve got more than an hour before I need to leave, but I’d like to do some clean up before I go…

That’s a lovely poem, beebs. I think I shed a tear.

Did I mention I went to see Indiana Jones yesterday? It was lots of fun.

I should go do something in aid of getting out of town… Maybe pack lunch.

Happy Saturday, Mumpers!

Good morning - and another early rising at FairyChatEstates.

beebs, you certainly are poetical and stuff. Interesting imagery and symbology and commentary on the human condition. You were commenting on the human condition, weren’t you? 'Cause I’d hate to think you dashed that off in a drunken frenzy…

**sturm ** - that you tired of MTV reality idiocy speaks highly of your intelligence, although that you turned it on in the first place is somewhat suspect. OK, I admit it, I think all “reality” TV is stoopit and I don’t watch any of it. Except COPS, and that’s only because **FCD ** controls the remote. So, um, yeah.

Speaking of FCD, he ran all the numbers for building the apartment. The grand total was more than twice what he’d estimated in the first place. The price of building materials is getting obscene!! So our plans have changed drastically. There will be no demolition right now. Instead of building the whole apartment, we’re just going to build the living room and bedroom/walk-in-closet. The existing storage closet is staying, although we will clean it up, organize it, and give the kids about half of it for their crap.

Which means for now, my studio stays compact, and the basement bath/laundry room stays intact. And once we get the kids settled in, we’ll redo the gawd-awful blue bathroom. With their help, that shouldn’t take long at all. So they’ll have about 400 sq ft in the basement where they can escape and have couple time, but they’ll still shower upstairs and dine with us. Then, after we build FCD’s new workshop in the yard, we can save for and maybe finish the apartment in another year or so, since the rooms we’re building are right out of the original plans anyway.

Which means this weekend, we may actually start some construction. Today, we’ll move the cherry and walnut lumber to the white shed. Then today and tomorrow, we’ll start sorting the crap in the storage closet area and maybe move some of their stuff from the garage down to the basement. Plus I’m hoping to accumulate enough stuff for a yard sale, so yay. And maybe somewhere in there, we’ll be able to go to Lowe’s and get the lumber and sheetrock to get started. At the very least, we should be able to place the order and get the big stuff delivered.

On the job front, my sweetie got a really encouraging note from the company he interviewed with. They’re waiting for a gov’t contract and when it comes thru, they’ll be hiring. The note implied that he would get an offer at that time. Man, that’d be so great.

Meanwhile, I’ve got quietitude to myself for a while. I hear birdies singing outside - it’s going to be a nice day. Happy Saturday!!

It’s like reading a trainwreck Pit thread. Usually I ignore them but sometimes I am mesmerized by their dark enchantments. Plus I’ve had a really bad case of screwing-around-itis lately.

A little cream will clear that right up…

Up caffeinated, and off to work. I got my new PC yesterday. I’ll set it up Monday

Interesting poem, beebs.

Well, swampy, yesterday was dominoes night with the man again.

Up and procrastinating getting ready for work. Think I might stop by McDonald’s on my way to work for a steak egg and cheese bagel. Those things are so delicious, but they’re like 700 calories a piece, so they’re typically reserved for hangover food, because calories don’t count when you’re hungover. Guess I’ll have to run to the kitchen and take a few shots before work to even things out. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ummmmmm… beebs don’t quit yer day job just yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienatin’ and feelin’ better. YAY!!! Still germy but I don’t feel quite as stuffy and achy as I did yesterday. I’m also really hungry, so I take that as a good sign.

Bacon, scrambled aigs, grits and toast sounds good. Off to make some brekkies.

Later Y’all!

swampy, just wanted to point out that I kicked yer butt in the Feud thread. :stuck_out_tongue:

(I never do very well in those, 15th place being about as well as I’ve done, but it’s so much fun. :/)

Last on page whatever page we’re on! Go me!
