Oh, yoga… thought y’all were harvesting yogurt. Easy pickings as that’s one of the few foods that remained in plentiful supply in the past couple of weeks. Went to the store today because my milk went bad somewhere between my first and second cups of coffee. Seriously - it was OK for the first, then half an hour later, ewww! Reminds me of the King of the Hill episode where Bobby was on Ritalin and he said “There’s some milk in the fridge that’s about to go bad…and there it goes.”
Not only did they have milk (got the last one!) they had my preferred kind of rice (medium calrose) and again, got the last bag! More importantly, I got the last can of Lysol wipes. Now that I’ve used up my shopping luck for the month, I’ll just stay here and make rice pudding.
Pro Tip for managing stuff under the sink - Keep your cleaners, etc. in containers so you can quickly grab things and empty the cabinet in case of leaks from the plumbing or the cans/bottles themselves. I use “shoe boxes” that they sell at Target for about a buck each.
Hallelujah! Had the 3-D mammogram and ultrasound this morning, and the lump is a seroma with calcified edges, so benign! Whew! The tech, who was both very experienced and very kind, said she’d tell me before I left so I didn’t have to worry over the weekend. She was sure it was a seroma, and it was. I’m beyond relieved.
Knees are sore today but usable. I tried putting ice (frozen corn) on 'em last night, but I wimped out because it huuuurt.
About picking crops…Not too sure people are going to want to do yoga in the pesticide- and herbicide-sprayed fields, especially since it’s a long walk to the porta-potties. But I move we all have to spend three days picking before we decide others don’t do it because they’re lazy or spoiled.
Moooom, I agree about the trade thing. Maybe this will get us to rethink this. I hope when the swing set’s finished, we get to see pics!
swampy, hats off on the plumbing job. Your dinners always sound so good!
hippie, what a wonderful story! You’re a knight in shining…oil can.
Beck, hope you’re resting so you can feel better tomorrow. When’s your follow-up visit with the doc?
Woohoo, happy Nellie dance!
Done almost all the triffid testing. I started at 9.30 this morning, and finished about 15 minutes ago (it’s 8pm here). So much for being stuck at home doing nothing… Tomorrow I shall attempt my one weekly permitted shop.
I’m being amused at the local facebook group; someone comments that they went shopping today and bought a big bunch of flowers and gave it the person on the checkout, everyone goes ‘Awww, how lovely, everyone should do that!’ Someone else asks if people think it would be OK for them to buy a plant, while they’re there buying other stuff, and everyone reacts like  What?? We’re allowed out for ESSENTIAL items, how DARE you suggest buying something so FRIVOLOUS, don’t you know people are DYING
I mean, really, what the 'eck is the person on the till gonna do with a load of bunches of flowers? Where can they even keep 'em? Isn’t that just going to result in them having a big argument with the supervisor about where they came from -no receipt after all- or the flowers just going back on the shelves? And if the shops are still selling stuff, what’s the issue with people buying it, especially when it will add maybe 10 seconds to a shop they were doing anyway? It’s good entertainment, this stuff.
Happy day for Nellie!!. Glad they worked you in and you had a real good tech person.
Nut, it is my considered opinion, after nearly 67 years of close observation, that people are weird sometimes. Age,sex, gender, race does not enter into it–just that all people are weird at some times.
Gotti, interesting tip, I have plenty of containers like that, I’ll do it…one of these days…
Nothing much done today outside of B&B (banking and bathing–not at the same time). It’s 87F now and just two days after turning the heat off, I am considering turning on the AC. That’s just not right.
**nellie *- do you FB? That’s where I post pics, but it’s a friends only page, so if you PM me, I’ll set you up! And ***HUZZAH ***for the good mammogram! I know that’s a relief!
Supper tonight was lemon-pepper shrimp Florentine over pasta. I thought I made too much. Nope - SIL inhaled what the rest of us didn’t eat. Yay for no leftovers, I guess. It would have been good for lunch tomorrow.
Once I load the dishwasher, I’m done for the night. Chillage shall ensue.
*Offer applies to everyone, because I’m nice, dammit.
I’ve rested and took a short walk. I’m feeling much better.
Mid-daughter pressure cooked chicken. I sat at the island and made the dumplings. They look like they will be ok. Chickkie/dumplins are a favorite around here.
I feel like I accomplished something today.
FCM we are very proud of our SAC Air and SPace Museum. I spent ten weeks there last spring. My crew removed the obsolete fire alarm and upgraded them to the state of the art. It was a great job and fun.
I irked a full day. Got a lot done but did not finish the inventory so I shall have to go in on the first for a few hours. I asked and got permission from the grouch acting director and I can bring my official irk computer home and do my training from home. I am about to the point of getting a doctor note if he/they insist I have to irk after Wed. I want my free vacation dammit. I could have and would have finished up inventory today but I could not brain. I was just spinning my wheels. Lack of sleep and being preoccupied with death messed me up.
Yay Nellie. Good news.
On the numbers front we are up to 19 now and one of those is a base irker :   Captain put out a you tube video telling everyone.
Ground beef, McCormack taco seasoning, some dehydrated onions, cayenne pepper. I made ground beef for dinner. I made Mrs. L.A. a couple of tacos dorados, into which she put Tapatio, cheese, and sour cream. I made two burritos with Tapatio, cheese, and sour cream on low-carb tortillas. We’ve each had a margarita (ice, not blended).
I’m waiting for Mrs. L.A. to make more margaritas.
Howdy Y’all! Today I ventured out to the dollah sto’. OYKW ventured out to another dollah sto. Dollar General sto’s that is. Within seven miles of da cave there are four Dollar Generals. Strange places. Anywho, we are stocked up on vitamins now. The Dollar General I went to had tp in twelve pack rolls. Limit one. I saw three people walkin’ around with their twelve pack. They looked happy. Things must have been dire where they live. That was the extent of our doin’ for the day except to make sup. The vegetative matter decided upon was steamed broccoli with cheese sauce. I make good cheese sauce.
Nellie YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Glad for the good news and that you had such a great tech.
gotti good advice and I shall heed. I have some plastic storage containers that should work well under the sink.
MetalMouse as to my plumbin’ prowess, that was a relatively easy job. Any major stuff would be done by a pro.
I use a plastic dishpan. We used to use it when we were handwashing, so we could soak the dirties. It doesn’t get much use these days, so all of the under the sink stuff went into it. It does make clearing out the cabinet much quicker. Gotti I would love to have your rice pudding recipe.
Nellie yay for good news! Butters man - time to start calling in sick. 19 on the base is 19 too many. You got medical concerns to deal with. It’s not worth it. Doggio of course they’re essential. We’re not heathens!
butters, when I went to Aldi Tuesday, I got there 15 minutes after opening and the TP was wiped (pun intended) out.
nut, for all of those who look down on furriners in the country, I wanna know what the heck they are eating and how they think it got there. Like you, I’ve done farm irk and it’s backbreaking.
Good job on the plumbing swampy!
Ouch on the knees, but yay for the cancer-free mammo nellie!
Yes, doggio, likker is essential.
Irked, did the new pass off procedure for the weekend guys, came home and took Nelson to the greenway for a walk, went through the drive thru for ribs and am now chilling. No more irk until noon Wednesday.
Tomorrow, I plan on nipping into the Farm Co Op, TSC or Lowe’s for some gardening supplies and go to town. It was 82F when I got off irk today and it will be nice to have some flowers and more herbs out front.
Next time, get some jumbo pasta shells and cook them about halfway. stuff them with your taco meat and then put them in a baking dish. Cover with enchilada sauce and shredded cheese. bake for half an hour or so. Mexican Manacotti.
Why is it “Firday?” Just a funny typo that survived like “Cow orkers”?
I did not get the news I was hoping for from the neurologist/MRI. It’s been a long, stupid day. Lots of tears.
I want to go to work and see my animals. I have a letter saying I’m essential, but I’m really not. I do the creative stuff. It’s important, but the animals will still be fed and clean without me. I just miss them. And my friends. And a lot of things.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 65 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Spring/Summer has definitely arrived. No plans at all for the day. We shall shelter in place. Could do some yahd irk. Or not. We shall see. We have all kinds of sammich makin’s on hand so that will take care of any need to feed.
{{{Dots}}} sorry you didn’t get the news you were hopin’ for. Firday is a misspellin’ of Friday. It started when a former Mumper, Haze typed Firday while drunk postin’. We then declared that Friday from henceforth shall be Firday. We be weird.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
