Beck's free in the MMP

**Dots **- yeah, Firday is a typo that caught on in the MMP because, well, that’s how we are, right? Moanday may or may not have been a typo, but it is appropriate.

Good morning! We had a little rain overnight, but it appears to have moved on for now. If it stays not-raining, I may do some raking in the front yard. It’s also critter fountain cleaning weekend, and of course, laundry needs laundering. So I should be kept busy today.

SIL came to me yesterday - he really really wants this swingset to be perfect for Roxy and he wants to do it himself, but he’s still learning how to use tools and such. I’ve read the assembly instructions - they’re very clear and it’s really not a huge deal, but I’ve got experience with tools and he was never taught as a young 'un to do stuff. Abusive father and all that… Anyway, I don’t know how reassuring I was. I really wanted to say “Just follow the instructions. You can read, can’t you??” But I didn’t. And when I watched him in the shop, it was obvious he didn’t know even the simplest things. But he’s making progress and **FCD **and I are both keeping an eye, making sure it’ll be a safe and sturdy structure.

I hear the shower running - I should get back there and hop in when FCD gets out. But I’m not done reading the funnies, so cleanliness will have to wait.

Happy Saturday!!

Good morning all

Really uneventful yesterday except for my younger daughter’s job change. YD has worked at her bank for 19 years…The last five or so, her supervisor has pushed more and more of her duties onto YD. Supervisor has also been very parsimonious, saying that YD is at the top of her scale and “sorry, but I can’t give you a raise this year” statements during revues. YD has been recruited by another bank and somehow supervisor got wind of it. For the last three weeks management at her bank has been putting pressure on TD to stay. When the new bank CFO got wind of the old bank pressure, he upped his offer. YD’s new position is in Management with about a 20% increase in salary. Yesterday YD just laid it out and gave written notice.

She starts her new job on Star Wars day May the fourth be with you

On the other hand, Older Daughter, who is a self employed hair stylist, has been closed indefinitely by the County Health Department along with all other salons. barbershops, nail salons and massage parlors.

{{{dot}}} I’m sorry that your appointment didn’t bring better news. This may cheer you up though: Dorothy, the tornado refugee dog that my friend fostered, managed to click her heels three times and found her forever home. <3 Her new humans took her home yesterday.

Mooooooom, I’m glad you’re teaching your SIL how to use tools. That will serve him well when he is responsible for the upkeep of his own home.

Yay on YD’s new gig hippie Here’s hoping OD is back to work soon.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of sheets and towels in the wash and the dog crate cleaned. So far, the usual Saturday. Once KP is done, I’ll purtify and head to a garden center for a bag of dirt (I plant in pots on the patio, so I don’t need a lot) and some plants. Then I’ll play on the patio, including putting the umbrella back up, this afternoon.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s gonna be a beautiful day. To stay in and shun human contact.

Absent Mumper HazelNutCoffee typed it in the grips of a monumental hangover.

Yay for YD, Hippie! Sorry about OD.

I survived my trek to Food Lion. Many of their shelves are still bare, but I got bananas and milk for Roxy and diet Mt. Dew for FCD. Dunno how he can drink that stuff.

Speaking of whom - he finally told his folks about his surgery, and they want to come here. His 90-y/o father with Parkinson’s and his 89-y/o nearly blind mother want to drive 800+ miles to be here for his surgery. Except I’ve already been told that I won’t be allowed in the hospital, so they surely won’t. And if they stay here, daughter and SIL would have to sleep in the basement. Plus I’ll be staying with my mom (100 miles north of here) till he’s stable and in rehab, and she doesn’t have space for guests since my sister is living there. Not to mention the stress of worry they’d inflict on their first-born by attempting the trip - heaven forbid they have an accident enroute…

Needless to say, he’s going to do his best to dissuade them. Honestly, I’m thinking dementia is setting in. They’re sweet people, but sometimes they make us crazy!

Morning all. Got up and went down to the shop that has had my lawn mower since the 10th of March. They’re just finishing all the mowers they got on the 9th, so mine should be along by the end of next week (3-4 April). Note to self: get lawnmower serviced in February.

Furniture store is closed, so no new dining chairs, but did stop a Publix for frozen food, lettuce and toilet paper (only kidding, the shelves are bare there too).

Weather is warm (71F going to 81F), but rain is coming tonight and it’s cloudy outside. Staying inside will be the order of the day (again).

Dots, Sad about the Drs.; you’ll bounce back, I’m sure of it.

And we have a slightly different (ok, weird) calendar here in the MMP. You see, there’s Moanday, 2Day, Hump Day, Thorsday, Firday, Sattiday, and Sunday (hey, no messin’ with the Lord’s Day).

FCM, I sympathize with SIL, I had a loving and caring dad, but he didn’t much use tools either so I never learned or got real comfortable with them. I think you’re doing the right thing, encourage and monitor.

Can you hire anybody to drive the old folks? I know with the virus about that is a hard thing to find, and they probably wouldn’t accept it anyway, but it would be a load off you and FCD’s mind.

Hippe, congrats to YD, hard work sometimes does pay off, just not at the same place…

Ok, need to hydrate and forage for sustenance. All y’all take care.

**MetalMouse **- apart from them surely refusing to be driven, they’d just be another problem for me to deal with. What if one of their health issues rears up? All their doctors are in Ocala. And like I said, they won’t be able to see their son anyway. Heck, I won’t be able to see their son either. And they’re very hard to deal with - they try so hard not to be a bother, they make me crazy! So they should just stay home till we can make a trip to see them.

Not to mention I’d be forced to watch Fox News while they were here…

Authorised weekly shop successfully completed. White rum, boxed wine and a random pineapple count as essentials, right?

They’d instituted a weird queuing system, which meant you have to go round almost like a big U shape, then back to the middle aisles to get to the till, and one you enter those you’re not allowed back out. Most odd, and it meant there was a total bottleneck where those looking round and those having the system explained were all squeezing past each other… :dubious: Most people were at least attempting to keep distance today at least. They did have everything in, at least, even TP

Howdy all. Being lazy so far today. My “vacation” has started. I have to go in on the 1st for a few hours but the rest of the time I am to do online training until I guess I complete it all. I need to be doing things around the house but have no motivation yet today. Hubby is downstairs moving his junk around supposedly cleaning and organizing. I shan’t leave the house for the next few days. Netflix is my friend.

Have a happy weekend all and please be safe.

We are also back from foraging for supplies. We are pretty much ok but needed perishables. We got to Costco just as they opened and there was a guy standing by a pallet of 5 packs of clorox wipes and handing out 1 to a customer. I bought a box of the disposable gloves I use at work, a couple of loaves of bread, 2 dozen eggs and 6 bottles of Pinot Nior. [[Don Corleone]“I like to drink wine more than I used to. Anyway, I’m drinking more…”[/Don Corleone] The stew meat looked great so I bought five pounds to divide and freeze. All in all a success.

In an effort to shift my laundry days to Mon and Tues, I only washed 2 loads today. I’ll get the rest early next week. I want to leave the weekends free for daughter and SIL - especially after they go back to work.

It’s really dreary out, and it poured earlier, so I’m not even going to pretend to rake. I’ve been reading on my tablet. Chillage is good.

Supper will be pulled poke, cheddar biscuits, broccoli. And maybe something else.

I would like to find a sack of rice somewhere. FL has been out of it and I didn’t feel like driving to Aldi or WalMart. Wonder if the dollar store carries plain white rice (not the quick-cook variety.) It’s not something I need immediately, but I’d like to have some more in the pantry - there’s not a lot left in there.

OK, back to reading.

I made (guilt-tripped) all the troops plant my garden while I sat in a lawn chair and supervised. So fun being a recuperating patient. I’m using my super power responsibly.
Onion sets, greens, cabbage and squash.

Could’ve put taters down. I don’t usually plant those. Son-of-a-wrek is the tater grower. He can do that in his garden.

Everyone grumbled and mumbled but they got it done. Many hands make work easier and fast.

Y’all have a good afternoon. (:))

butters, if your online training is anything like ours, it may well be a fate worse than death-by-coronavirus. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stopped at the Supermercado down the street for some red beans ( I thought I had enough for red beans and rice tomorrow, but needed some more) and picked up some popcorn and mayo while I was there. I haven’t made popcorn for a while and have some tunafish pouches to use up, so it won’t go to waste. After that, I hit Lowe’s and got a bag of dirt, some Gerber daisy, petunias, sweet basil and sage plants. Tomorrow, I play in the dirt.

Whew! **FCD **talked to his mother - apparently it was his Dad who felt compelled to come here. But they’re not coming - common sense has prevailed! We’ll probably plan a trek there in the fall when my sweetie is fully recovered. So, WHEW!!!

Critter fountain is clean and I’m about to go back to my reading for another hour or so, when I’ll start supper. Still dreary. Hope to see the sun shining soon.

Whew! The joint is jumpin’! Is the MMP a joint or a land? I’m not sure I got through all the posts, but I think I got the gist.

I’m still feeling much relieved. Told one sister about the cancer scare, and she’s upset I didn’t tell her when I found the lump, but having put my siblings through the whole interminable cancer experience two years ago, I wanted to wait until I had something more definite to report. My knees are healing, and I’m feeling blessed.

Yesterday I took my babushka cart to the grocery store. Forgot my disinfecting wipes :smack: but I did wear gloves, which shall be washed. The bread aisle was well-stocked, but no rye bread! I inquired. They don’t carry rye bread! Alert the press! The other store within walking distance sometimes carries one brand of light rye, so I’ll try there today. Has rye bread really fallen from favor?

[[[[Dot}}}} I’m so sorry you got bad news from the doc. I hope when you get your bearings again, you find reason for hope.

Filbert, watch out for those random pineapples. I understand they make eyes at the other fruit.

hippie, congrats on YD’s new job! You must be so proud. I hope OD isn’t feeling too discouraged. Hard times.

Howdy Y’all! We’ve been retired, lazy bums all day. Needless to say yahd irk did not happen. Just could not be bothered. Oh well, there’s always sometime next week. I took a biiiiiiiiig chikin outta da freezer early this mornin’ and ‘tis almost thawed. I shall bake it tomorrow along with some cornbread dressin’, vegetative matter TBD. It will be like Sunday dinner at granny’s! Yes, we do have cranberry sauce. Biiiiiiiiiiig chicken comes with giblets so there shall be gravy!

hippie yay for YD’s new gig. Hope OD can get back to irk soonest. Gettin’ a little shaggy on the haid (for me anyways) myself so I’ll be glad when I can get a haircut again.

Nuts wine and rum? Were you shoppin’ for doggio?

nellie, the Oroweat bakery outlet in my area usually has a good selection of rye bread, at about half grocery store prices. There are some good arguments in favor of owning an upright freezer (the chest style would quickly accumulate clutter, and as short as I am, there’s a falling-in hazard if I’m trying to get something from the bottom.

swampy, my husband has that problem solved. He just shaves his head anyway (says it’s more comfortable under a hard hat, especially in summer).

Hopefully by tomorrow, I’ll feel energetic enough to get some stuff done around here! Still got a week of quarantine to go, hoping to get around to some overdue defilthing.

Howdy all. Quiet day since I got inside, the HVAC is enjoying it’s second day off as the temperature is now 82F outside (and 74F inside). Closed a checking account at the Credit Union (I had set it up to do my home refurbishments, was going to use the last money in it for vacation this summer, which is now on hold). Their offices are closed, so needed to type and sign a letter, scan it along with ID, and e-mail it to the Credit Union. Oh bother, but it’s done. Otherwise just internettin’, although I think I’m going to spend a little time now reading and putting knick-knacks away (or maybe just take a nap).

FCM, glad the in-laws are staying home; one less worry you’ll have.

nellie, I used to get rye bread every month, but groceries around here only stock 1-2 types, Wal-mart sometimes has more variety but I’ve just been happy in March to find bread. Will look a little harder this week when I do the Great April Stockup.

And I think you were right not to tell sis until you had more info. Sounds like she would just have worried along with you, and you spared her that.

Becks, supervisin’ is the best job of all…

Nut, no enforced paths here yet, but people seem to be doing the social distancing thing, I don’t see the usual ‘three carts stacked up blocking the aisle’ or ‘the prolonged conversation at the deli section’ at least at the places I’ve visited.

Butters, motivation is overrated, IMHO.

All y’all have a good afternoon.

I have been having an allergy attack all morning. I am not sick. My Allegra didn’t touch it though so I have taken two Benadryl. I will likely be asleep soon. Fricking allergies. Not a good thing to have when there is a pandemic. The FL surgeon general just sent out an emergency alert saying to stay in if 65+ or with health conditions and to practice social distancing. Bout scared me to death.

This staying in is going to get old after a while.

enjoy the weekend everyone.
