Happy Toosday!
No dog park today, the city closed it, along with everything else deemed non-essential.
Rainy 43 degrees, supposed to get up to 57.
We’ll go out in the yard later and see what I can do to keep the pups occupied for a bit.

We’ve got a big yard and 2 little dogs, but for the most part, they’d rather lie about inside. It’s a pug thing.
nellie, oops, I did mean dot. Brain not at optimal working level these days. But if you need something to read while sipping your whisky…
Bat boy, you drop by after awhile just to worry who’s going to get sick? C’mom, stick around a little longer and tell us good things, not with the Negative waves…<grin>
Nut, I’m a jammies person too; hell of a way to meet the Apocalypse…
Woke up at 6am to Queen weather (thunderbolts and lightning) but stayed in the sack until 7. Rain is continuing and looks to be around most of the day, so staying inside won’t be that hard. Need to get some sustenance here shortly.
All y’all take care.
nellie, I live in 560 square feet, so I know what you mean about counter space. Most of the space allotted is vertical though. It actually takes up somewhere in the vicinity of 4"X 6" on the counter.
It’s raining again. I hope it stops in the next half hour. I’m headed out to pick up the groceries, since my irk schedule involves a full day on Fridays now. I’ll need milk for coffee by that time.
I’m a little worried about Nelson. He’s up for his usual cuddles and playing fetch, but when we go outside, he just seems sad. I may take him for a car ride if it stops raining today. Something to get him out of the house and still be socially distanced. I just wish I could leave him off leash and that he could see some of his dog buddies.
Day 1 of isolation. We made a big breakfast and et. I have things to do housework wise but shan’t have to leave the house. I fueled the car and stopped for hubby scripts yesterday so we should be good. I am off irk until Firday. I did bring my computer home and have to irk on the budget. I hope to have it ready to submit by Firday.
Laundry is piled up. Just my stuff so there’s a few loads. Buddy has to have a bath. He is a little stinky. He hates baths.
The city of KW closed all non essential businesses and right on top of the list of essential businesses are liquor stores. I guess they don’t want too many having DT’s.
Y’all stay distanced and safe.
Sitting at home yesterday afternoon, I was alerted to a message on my mobile. The president of the company was calling an urgent meeting for 20:00. Our orifice is by the West Seattle Bridge, and it’s being closed for emergency repairs. How will this affect us? An hour later, I got the news that the governor has issued a stay-at-home order. So our meeting turned from one about possible inconveniences getting into the orifice, to dealing with the crisis. Basically: Everyone work from home. If you have to come into the orifice, don’t stay. One person has to go to the Post Office (we have a box), and another person needs ‘resources’ from the orifice to take home.
Two of Mrs. L.A.'s patients cancelled their appointments this week, and I believe Mrs. L.A. is going to call the other two she had scheduled for this week to postpone theirs.
My yard plus the neighbor’s yard is big enough for them to get exercise, but it’s boring. And they miss their friends especially Echo, she is very social. Sometimes I wonder if I took her to the park too soon, because she is very very attached to her park ‘pack’.
I’m working on setting up playdates for them.
Irk is slow, so I’ll just irk the extra hours I’m home until it picks back up again.
Afternoon, mumpers! My car passed the MoT but required a new battery so that got replaced, bill was paid, and motor was collected. The battery is a heavy-duty one due to it having a stop-start engine and apparently it was down to 39% function so they said it would need to be replaced at some point. Might as well do it now as I don’t want to be stuck in the middle of the coronapocalypse with a non-functioning car. Filled the petrol tank the other week when I came back from Welsh Wales, so that’s all ok.
Blokie ventured out this morning for bread and milk from the corner shop. I have been in, pottering around doing bits of work but not very much. I am strangely unmotivated today, must be the lovely sunny weather than I can’t go and enjoy. Still, got a load of skype meetings in the calendar for tomorrow to catch up with my team, and had a tutorial meeting with my ILM tutor about my project.
Lunch was a chicken and coleslaw sandwich, Shadow came to see what I’d got and offered to help me with it. Then he went to see blokie, who had something far more exciting for lunch.
Not sure about dinner tonight, he’s cooking and has got chicken out of the freezer so I will wait and see.
My car wasn’t picked up
I really should have asked my neighbour for his son’s number, 'cos I dunno what’s going on now. He might just be doing it tomorrow, I’m not 100% sure how we left it (I’d said there was no rush now, and it’s not technically due for another two weeks). There’s talk of MOTs being suspended for up to 3 months as well.
Apparently going to the allotment is specifically allowed, so if I do have a car tomorrow, I might go do that.
I think I’ll be having a veggie stir fry for dinner. Meal planning is taking up an increasing proportion of the day as this goes on…
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled It’s cold again.
That’s one hell of a way to keep people from roaming around.:D:p
Have broken fast and filed a bunch of papers and folders that have been sitting around (and coincidentally found my stapler). Rain has stopped but more bad weather is predicted for the afternoon.
Boo fae, glad you passed, my car has a screen I can go to to check the battery strength, it’s still good (only 2 years old), but I have had a battery go bad when I least expected it, so good you got it changed. And nut, hope it gets straightened out.
Everybody take care.
Film at eleven?
It was 32F and painfully bright when I took the dogs out at 7am this morning. It’s 40f now.
We may run down to the hardware store today. (It’s 6 blocks away). They have a 16’ pressure treated 2x12 in their little lumberyard which is just the right amount to fix our front steps, but we don’t have a good way to get from there to here and there was some problem with their saw. We may take our saw down there and cut it up in their yard so’s we can fit the pieces in the back of our car. It’ll cost about $30 more than if we go to Home Depot and get them to cut the pieces we need, but Home Depot is 45 miles away.
Brekkie is ready!
Later.
butters, Nelson had his bath over the weekend, along with a trim of his back nails   He hated me for a couple of hours over the nail trim, but he’s OK with baths.
boofae, is there a Wales that isn’t Welsh?
I went out for groceries this morning. At Sprout’s, what little of the bulk section with product, all of it had been pre-bagged (I like shopping the bulk bins and taking my own cotton drawstring bags), so I may as well shop at Publix or Kroger for the stuff I don’t get at Aldi for the duration. I washed the baseboards and mopped the kitchen, laundry room, entry way and bathroom when I got home.
Talked to my dad on the way home and he said that his neighbor, who works at the Family Dollar in his tiny town offered to pick up anything he needed that they sold if he provided a list for her. He said he gave her a twenty and had her pick up milk, eggs and bread and told her to keep the change. <3 He knows that she has a family to feed on a tight budget. She left it on his porch so to limit contact with someone in an at risk population <3
Good afternoon all. I’m moving slow but I’m moving. Glad to be home.
Thought I’d walk the dogs this morning. I made it 20ft and had to come back. Not ready to do that just yet. I have no breath power. Don’t know why.
Mid-daughter sent lil’wrekkers BF to find fruit. The oranges he found were Blood oranges. He also got very green bananas and grapes. He said the produce section was picked over pretty well.
No paper anywhere
He found 2 bottles of rubbing alcohol. Him and the lil’wrekker are planning on concocting their own hand sanitizer. :smack:
Mr.Wrekker went to job. Surprise, surprise. A company he helped startup. They, need his help shutting down. Non essential, I guess.
We’re doing fine in this strange new world.
Y’all have a good evening.
Nap time is over and a late lunch is being consumed. We’ll go outside in a little while. Daughter hasn’t come home yet - dunno if her meeting ran long or if she’s gone in search of the groceries I asked her to get. We shall find out eventually.
Damn straight! Come on over! Everybody’s wel–dang it, forgot the virus for a sec. Definitely NOT inviting COVID. He’s such a downer.
I don’t know WHY I’m like this about alcohol. I have a full bar cart because I rarely drink, yet I buy more and have no place to put it. I’m going to have to start having a daily cocktail, as my parents did. They usually had highballs. Anybody remember those?
I forgot to check in with my friends this morning, and they got worried. Yikes. I’m not used to being accountable to anyone.
Beck, glad you’re moving a little. In a day or two, you’ll hit 25 feet, then 30. General anesthesia + the shock to your system+ energy needed to heal = lasting fatigue. Just accept it and don’t push TOO hard.
MetalMouse, if I run out of reading material, do you offer Dial-a-Story? ![]()
flyboy, I’m confused, and I’m sure it’s due to my own stupidity. Isn’t 20:00 8 pm? But the gov announced the orders at 5:30 PM, or…um…lessee…1730, right? Where am I erring?
red, thanks for the info. I’m going to look into getting one. Hope Nelson gets over the isolation blues.
As my parents used to say, things are tough all over. Hang in there, chums.
**nellie **- you got the 24-hour times correct. Just add 12 to all times after noon. Easy-peasy!
Roxy played outside for a bit, then asked to come it - that was a surprise! Daughter still isn’t home. I just hope she’s not running all over the county looking for groceries.
nellieMy Daddy had highballs everyday. Then beer. Maybe martinis. More beer.
Next morning bloody Marys.
Yep. He drank too much.
Lived to 86yo. No appreciable health problems. He died of a fluke brain aneurysm. Instantly killed him.
The meeting was supposed to be about the West Seattle Bridge, and it was scheduled for eight. The stay-at-home order came between the announcement of the meeting, and the actual meeting.
I got a tin of Beach Cliff sardines in Louisiana hot sauce at the dollar store.
It was good.
