Been meaning to...a show and tell MMP

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

House stuff moves on, we have the insurance company sorted out now and they will be getting in touch with us to come and fit a replacement back door as ours is officially damaged. One of my friends met me on the way home yesterday so I didn’t have to go into the house alone, it was very sweet of her and luckily everything at the house was ok.

I didn’t sleep so well last night though, I think it’s just the lingering worry about what happened and stuff, so it will get better. I’ve been round the house and checked that all the windows are locked anyway!

We have exams again at work today, so I was here by 8am. Just as well that I couldn’t sleep since I was up at 5am to make sure I got here in time. I don’t live that far away, but public transport is sometimes a nightmare.

Oh, and I don’t have any pics either. I still have pics on my camera from our visit to Antwerp Zoo last July. Guess I should think about doing something with those, right?

IrishMan seems to be a big one for ceremony, huh.

The person who was supposed to call me to write down my “technical file” didn’t. I called at EOB to try and set up a specific time for today and pointed out to the receptionist that the English version of their hold message is wrong, which made her laugh (what can I say, I’ve been working QC since before I was officially working QC). The person who was supposed to call me back didn’t. Today my agent called me to ask whether the other people had, he said he’ll call them. I think we make Telefónica very, very happy - and that we look a lot like a bunch of puppies running after each other’s tails.
ETA: I think that scaring someone who’s got Scarey in her name is extra-impolite. I do hope you can get your passports sorted in time and that the dealings with insurance aren’t too painful.

Yeah, it’s kinda cute.

Had a splitting headache all day. Finally trudged to the pharmacy to get some Tylenol and like magic, it’s disappeared. Should’ve gone earlier.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 51 Amurrkin and windy out with a predicted high of <snerk> 69 <snerk> today. A definitely cooler day than the past few days but still nice. I shall have to wear a jacket. Oh the humanity!

Haze glad the headache is all gone. Tylenol is a miracle cure sometimes. So a surprise engagement is comin’ huh. Maybe it will involve clowns! Then it would be a skeery surprise cause clowns are skeery!

BooFae glad you’re feelin’ somewhat better after the break in. I like some of your friends’ suggestions about what to do to the thieves over on facebook. There’s some evil genius minds at work!

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then irk purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning all (or afternoon, depending on where you’re at :)). And sorry I missed waving to you earlier, Haze – and obviously I have -not- been in the loop re: IrishMan!

My gosh, the knitting projects are so beautiful! I can barely crochet and still don’t do a very good job with holding tension. I don’t sew either - I was so ashamed of my home ec dress in 8th grade that I threw it in the trash!

Glad that you’re starting to feel better, FCM, at least I hope you are. And sending get well vibes to all the Lissars, especially LiLi who has had a rough passage lately. Good thoughts!

Also sending good thoughts to BooFae and Nava – so sorry about the break-in and hoping that Nava will find a much better job.

I know I’m missing stuff I wanted to say. I’m caffeinated and have brekkied, but was awakened around 4 am or so with thunder, lightening and 60 mph winds (yes, we had a tornado warning!), so I guess I’m a bit blurfy because of that! Happy Tuesday to everyone. Or Wednesday.

Yesterday was insane. Apologies to those I owe emails too. So much happening at work, at home, all over. We’re one of those states trying to balance the budget on the state workers union. There is some legislation moving through to reclassify all of us faculty as administration so they can remove us from collective bargaining and tenure. That is some scary stuff. Drama with Chair stuff. Drama with the guy who attacked me (via email). Other stuff.

Drama drama.

But, my girl is off on a train for DC this morning with her class! She will have a blast!

Blurf.

Woke up to a tor-nay-dee warning today. That drama is over now.

Need. More. Coffee.

Hullo. I’m still home. I got up at the usual time today, showered, and halfway thru that evolution, I knew I wasn’t going to make it. So I took the dog out, had a shot of generic nyquil, and went back to bed till 9. I just had some breakfast and I’m about to assume the position on the couch. I’m a little woozy from the nyquil stuff and my head is stuffed up so that I have to breathe thru my mouth, which is singularly unpleasant right now. ugh.

I definitely made the right choice not to go in. I hate being sick. At least I haven’t been crazy busy at work.

I also took some time yesterday to do some calculations - if I want to retire at the end of the year, I can - we can afford it as long as I get the incentive pay which would retire the truck loan. It’s very tempting… I’m waiting to see what the organization will look like when the gaining command takes over - that’ll help me decide whether I want to stick around or just go.

Meanwhile, I’m going to go watch TV and feel sorry for myself. * <snurfle snurfle>*

We had our tornados yesterday. Fortunately no tornados at my house, but we got almost 2" of rain. And I got a new mini horse to keep my Peanut company. Maybe I’ll change her name from Daisy Duke to Tornado.

StG

::sends Mooommm some chicken soup and chocolate through the drink holder thingie::

I’m home and about to go get cleaned up to take Dad to the doctor. We’re also going to the bookstore, and we’re gonna eat lunch at the Greek deli. Can you imagine? He’s never ever had a gyro! Poor guy has led a sheltered life.

The doctor’s visit is just a checkup. Tomorrow’s doctor is a consult with an opthalmologist about removal of his second cataract.
ETA: I dreamed we had a tornado touch down in our yard. It dug a deep trench, but didn’t destroy the house. Lucy and Blaze were outside in it!

ETA2: What a sweet little pony, StG!

I’ll be happy with a job that’s about as good, although higher activity levels would be nice.

sends actithiol antihistamínico to FCM via the interwebz Antihystamine syrup, it works much better for me than any of the pills - and it even tastes good!
ETA: StG, shouldn’t it be tornadito? Or tormentita, being a lady… (little tornado - little storm)

Sorry you’re sick, FCM, and hugs, boos, yays generally except to OoFae, who gets ((((BooFae)))).

Just got rid of Gnat via the grandparents as I’m still sick. I think I’ve lost seven or eight pounds in the last week. It’s an amazing diet.

Going back to bed when baby goes down for his nap.

This morning before work I got rear-ended by a cute Catholic schoolgirl in a Chevy Tahoe.

It wasn’t nearly as enjoyable as that sentence makes it sound.

I’ll take a pass on the snarkage here. Hope you are uninjured.

Oh, yeah, I’m fine. Technically the poor thing hit a Camry and pushed it into me. She was shaken up and crying (she must have been all of 18 years old) but no one was hurt.

Nice pics.

It’s was another crazy busy day yesterday. Basically, I had about 20 Mondays rolled into one. Just all kinds of stupid stuff going on and it made my job a hundred times harder than it needs to be. My last nerve frayed and finally snapped.

Sending get will vibes to those who are sick.

I’m glad you’re not injured, Skammer.

We’re supposed to have “showery” weather all the rest of this week and into the weekend. Yay spring…NOT.

Well, I must tackle the database that suddenly decided to die. The problem with this dumb thing is that I didn’t design it, and the person who designed it did not make the the order of the make table queries real obvious. Several have the same step number. It’s a pain the ass, along with several very short suspenses, including a congressional. The idiot wanting the data sat on it for three weeks and didn’t provide the info I need to pull the data. So now, I’m supposed to jump through MY ass because of his stupidity. Bleh.

God, I hope I make the list for either of the jobs I applied for.

FCM and LiLi – get well vibes.
Boo – Sorry about the break-in; those are scary! :frowning:

Good luck to you both… While I’m constantly stressing on the job here, at least it’s a job I like, and the insane workload is the result of real work needing to be done. But the people around me are helpful and understanding (and generally as overworked as I am… which beats the alternative!) so I’m really not complaining.

Glad you’re OK! Now, with that out of the way… I’ll bite – did you mention to her that you’d like to return the favor?!

I finally caught up! My manager, who will become the director when I become the manager, which has already happened as far as HR is concerned but which hasn’t been announced in our group yet because various people have been out, is on vacation so I’m already sort of doing her job but my team just thinks it’s because of the vacation. Whew that was a complicated sentence. The point being that I’m really busy.

Love the new horse, St. G!

There were some great yarn projects back there too!

Swampy, you need to wear a jacket because it’s going to be in the 50s?? :dubious: When it gets that warm, we start wearing shorts here! :stuck_out_tongue:

{{LiLi}} and {{FCM}} and {{BooFae}} and {{Taters}} and {{anyone I missed}}

OK, back to juggling about 4 projects. Whee!

Oh and I forgot to share - you can knit the royal wedding! I don’t think I’m going to try that, but… one could. With royal corgies and all.

Howdy y’all! Takin’ a break from irk. Just had a ham 'n cheese sammich and some chips. Gotta get back to stuff soon.

Skammer glad nobody was hurt. No snerkage here cause, well Catholic school girls ain’t my thang.

And this week’s winner of the find the tackiest thing on the intratoobz contest is… taxi! Nobody will top that. Also, it’s so tacky I kinda want it.

Feel better MOOOOOOM and LiLi!

Alas, back to irk.

Later Y’all!
