Been meaning to...a show and tell MMP

Good morning. I’ve been up and caffienating too. I was glad to see our Congresschildren pulled their heads out of their collective asses and came to an agreement on the budget.

While I wouldn’t have minded a day or two off, that’s about all I would have been able to handle.

I never made it to the store yesterday, so I’ll have to go today. We need the staples and a few other things.

I hope you get time to get a nap in today, Li-Li.

Yay for no shutdown!

Hope you get to sleep a bit,** LiLi**.

Up, have consumed caffeine and breakfast, nephew and brother are out playing basketball, and I’m thinking I’ll go out and play in the garden for a bit. I have a little bit of laundry left to do, but it seems like garden would be a good thing, first.

Happy Saturday, all!

Hugs.

Howdy Y’all! Yahds have been sprayed, mowed, edged and generally spiffed up. Go Us! BBQ sammiches for N.O.L.. OYKW is even warmin’ up the bbq. Impressive, no?

Herbs the predicted due date for the little Priestess (have I mentioned it’s a girl?) is around Mother’s Day. Would that not be a tres cool Mother’s Day present! YP really wishes I would quit callin’ her the Priestess but YP Wife thinks it’s hilarioius so he is over ruled. Others have started do it too, so it’s like all win-win! It’s just one big long laugh riot down at ol’ St. Pat’s!

Oh, and I did accomplish my most important task of the mornin’. I iced down beer. I know this makes doggio happy.

Taz and Cozmo are both chipped, and neither are none the worse for wear. tarra, it’s an ID chip that’s injected between the shoulder blades. If either gets lost, a vet or a shelter would scan and the ID number would show on the screen and it would cross to our phone number. Since Taz has taken to trying to escape more often, I figure the chip and his new collar and ID tag will get him home. And if you already knew what chipping is, then don’t bother reading this last paragraph.

I also bought up a bunch of 'maters, cukes, peppers, strawberries, blackberries, and snap peas. Tomorrow is planting day. I need to get some cages for the maters and cukes. I think I can fashion a “fence” for the peas to climb. I also got some manure and plant food. Before tomorrow is done, I expect to be in a lot of pain.

Meanwhile, laundry is started - I figure I have 6 loads at least for today. I may also knit. Watch TV. Kill time. **FCD **went to work and I don’t know when he’ll get back. Daughter is vegging in her apartment. Such is Saturday in FairyChatEstates. Hugs to all who need 'em, and even those who just want 'em!

What can I make with tomatoes, red pepper, cauliflower and no meat for dinner that would be tasty?

Going to lie down for ten minutes before heading to the park.

Anyone ever do a crock pot lasagna? I’m trying to decide whether to do my pseudo-lasagna pasta bake the usual way, then transfer it to a crock pot or just cook it in the crock. The crock is removable, so I suppose I could bake it in there, then just heat it up the next day in the crock pot. This is for a lunch at work. I’m trying to keep it as simple as possible.

Well, not really. The simplest would be to order pizza, but that’s boring…

GT, we have a park kitty-corner from our house too. Yhe only problem with that is that there’s a little girl who goes there every day and scremas her head off like she is being murdered, every 20 seconds, all day long. I want her to get larangitis so much. I also want to slap her mother silly.

Mom, catnip may keep stinkbuga away, i dunno, but then you get drugged-out cats. Personally, I’d just learn to live with the bugs.

LiLi, chop up large quantities of N.O.T, chop up the peppers and cauliflower., and bake them all in the oven with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Maybe some Mrs. Dash, if you like. Bake then on a sheet pan in the oven for about 20 minutes at ~400, turning them over about halfway through. Remember; large quantities. You’ll eat lots.
Slice the tomatoes on the side with salt and pepper. Or you could bake them too, if you like that sort of thing.
We’ve been doing our veg this way since Wifey joined Weight Watchers and it really is good.

**Li-Li **- I was going to suggest bite sized veggies in a curry sauce served over rice.

I actually went outside today - not just to the car. A bunch of us from the chorus set up outside the Pathmark to sell raffles for a 5 minute/$500 supermarket dash. We did pretty well, and even handed out flyers for our upcoming membership drive.
I forgot the sunscreen though, so my face is blotchy and my arms are freckled. <sigh>

The two on the right are my folks. 'Splains a lot, don’t it?

Lurvely family portrait Rosie.

LiLi, I like both Rosie’s and Bumba’s ideas.

MOOOOOOM I think it may be best to bake as usual and then transfer to crockpot to keep warm. I say this cause it sounds like sump’n you need to have ready on time and sometimes crockpot cookin’ can be a little unpredictable. Best not to chance it. I worry. That’s how I roll. :stuck_out_tongue:

Guests will be here shortly. We shall nosh and visit for a bit and then poke tenderloins shall be grilled whilst friggin’ good N.O.T. get nukealated. Should be fun. It’s really nice out so we shall dine al fresco. OYKW thinks that we should offer to make martinis in addition to beer. I say no. Martinis be fine but they’s potent stuff. I say we stick to servin’ beer as the adulterated beverage.

Ok, off to get stuff ready.

Later Y’all!

Red Robin made supper. Two more loads of laundry to go. Tonight is a Dexter night - we’re definitely getting our money’s worth from Netflix.

Life is good.

Thanks so much for the explanation, FCM. Not having a pet is probably why I didn’t know what chipping was, although if I had actually thought about it a bit, I would likely have “gotten” it eventually … eventually! :stuck_out_tongue: And I am totally glad it’s not the chipping I was thinking of!! This is definitely a good thing.

swampy when you deheathenate tomorrow, I’m going to need you to add a special prayer in for those of us at Irk Hotel. For, you see, one of our guests last night was the Episcopal bishop over the entire United States of America. Last night was also the first night of a two-night Widespread Panic concert that has attracted a lot of really classy people to Hippy Hollow. And at two o’clock this morning the two crossed paths.

Someone prank called the bishop and said they were sending a Latin Lover service to her room. :smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack:

Needless to say she was not amused. Fortunately when we mentioned the words “big concert,” “lots of teens/early twenties people” and “prank call” she was mollified. Still, it was pretty dicey there for a second.

I’ve given up on expecting adults to act as such. Now if I can only get the authority to make people stand in the corner and think about what they just did, I will be pleased. One minute for each year of your age. I will be checking drivers licenses. looks stern

Home from irk. I hate having to go in to work on the weekend just to be seen to be at work on the weekend, regardless of whether or not there’s actual work to be done. At least it was quiet. There’s no chit-chat on Saturdays, thank Og.

I got a new knitting book this morning, Charts Made Simple. It’s about teaching yourself to read knitting charts, which is something I find very difficult.

My high school best friend has a new baby! They did a local adoption, so they were able to be present for the birth. They’ve been hoping for a baby for a long time, so I’m very happy for them. I can’t wait for pictures.

Mazel Tov, Auntie Shadow!

my sunburn hurts (whine whine) I haven’t been in the sun without sunscreen in decades - I forgot that the pain gets worse before it gets better. I’m a cranky kitteh tonight (and prolly tomorrow, too)

:D:D:D
Ogbligatroy durknen psot. Dindin good. Beer good. Company good. Bear drknu.

I shall spaz. Durin’ the Prayers of The People, when we pray for Katherine Our Presiding Bishop, I shall silently add, “and for those at Spaz’s irk hotel”. BTW she is one of the reasons some of those in the Anglican Communion think the ECUSA is made up of heathens because we dared to elect a gasp :eek::eek: woman as our Presiding Bishop. This was on top of approving the gasp :eek::eek: election of an openly gay man who was elected by the Diocese of New Hampshire as Bishop of said Diocese. Rebels, we ECUSAers are, I say, Rebels!

And on that note, the drknu bear says, Nitey Nite!

Oh, my, Spaz. Sounds like the bishop will have a clear memory of irk hotel for some time.

Nephew played basketball for 8 hours today. About 2 hours before lunch and 6 after. For some reason, he was tired when he got home. He barely made it to 10:00.

I wandered over while they were playing and it looked like everyone was having a great time. It was two dads and a girl against 3 boys.

I cleaned up and edged one bed in the garden and started in on another. Yay!

Guess I should fall asleep too…

Hugs all.

Morning, all! Last night we went to the cinema for the first time in ages. In fact, last time was so long ago we think it might have been the last “Lord of the Rings” film! Anyway, we went to see “Source Code” which was pretty good, and I’m happy to say that the cinema was full of well-behaved adults so no cursing and tutting required.

Today we will be fitting contact alarms on the doors and contemplating where in the house we can position the motion detectors because they have to be somewhere the cats aren’t going to set them off.

Shadow has a poorly paw today, last night he was limping quite badly and barely putting any weight on one of his front legs. Today he is basking in the sun so I haven’t actually seen him move yet. Fortunately I had already made an appointment at the vets for tomorrow evening as he’s due his vaccination boosters so I’ll get them to look at his leg and see what’s going on. I suspect he’s been in a fight and has an abcess or something, he seems fine otherwise and isn’t off his food.

The only other thing I have planned for today is cooking. I’m going to make some spicy parsnip soup for lunch, and then probably sketties for dinner tonight. Dindins will be early as 'im indoors is going back to Surrey tonight instead of first thing in the morning so the good news is that I will not be woken up by his alarm at 5.30am.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ and feelin’ pretty good. ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 90. I plan on doin’ nuttin’ today other than deheathenate, so it’s all good.

BooFae glad you had a good time at the movin’ picture show. We just don’t go. Everything worth seein’ will eventually be on dvd and can be viewed from the comfort of a big reclinin’ chair nowadays. Ok, so it’s not biiiiiiiiiig screen but I can pause it to go pee if’n I need to so that makes it all win-win.

Ok, off to seek out more caffiene and consider whether to make brekkie or give OYKW the privilege of takin’ me out for brekkie. I like to be generous like that from time to time.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

OK, what the heck do I keep doing to wipe out my post with a single accidental keystroke? I had 3 paragraphs all written up and I bumped my mouse, and poof! all gone!!

Whatever. I’m up. Critters are fed. **FCD **is sleeping. Weather is going to be nice today and tomorrow, so I should get my garden done if all goes well.

It’s not as clever the second time around, is it? Stoopit mouse.

Happy Sunday anyway…
