Up, caffeinated, off to irk
Bein’ the kind hearted carin’ person that I am, I decided to make brekkie. Pancakes and bacon… mmmmmmmm! Now I am all purtified for deheathenization. OYKW is workin’ on purtification. I’ll go ahead of him anyways cause I’ve been doin’ the Sunday School, excuse me, Adult Bible Study (does that really sound any better than Sunday School?) thang as of late.
Later Y’all!
I too, am up and caffienating. We had a very nice time at our neighbor’s party last night, and won a round of 99 too.
We’re going to take our son to lunch at one of his favorite restaurants today. We were going to do dinner, but he has work, so we opted for lunch instead.
I’ve got to get some tidying done too. I was giving myself a little quiet time before I dug in and did that. No one is up but me and the dogs and I’m enjoying the peace.
I’ll bet the Bishop will laugh in time, Spaz.
We’re up, and I sent Mr. Lissar and Gnat off to Mass because TomKitten naps right at church time.
Last night by the time it came to make dinner I hadn’t gotten to the grocery store and found one of our friends had given up carbs. We ordered from the Indian place and I have leftovers for lunch. Dinner was good although Very Loud Friend should not be permitted to buy his own booze because he has no idea how much he’s drinking. This seems to be shaping up as an ongoing problem.
Rain and warm here today. I’m eating right now, and going to nap and do chores and a grocery run after Mr. Lissar and Gnat get home. Pulled pork for dinner.
I’ve been cleaning this morning and then the groceries and pet sitters will be here this afternoon.
I probably should eat something.
Funny story: When the lady from the Diocese came by to bring a very large and very heavy fruit basket for Katherine Your Presiding Bishop, Squirrel AGM said referred to KYPB as “he.” Diocese Lady gave him A Look and he quickly corrected himself, adding “I was raised Catholic.” He does, however, have a hard-partying Episcopal Priest cousin.
Culinary Boy is getting his temporary bridge put in today. I got my mane tamed. I now have au naturel colored hair–part of why I waited over a year to get it cut was so I could get rid of all the dyed parts. The haircuttin’ lady used the trimmer on the back of my neck to trim my hairline. It tickled and now the back of my neck is itchy. She did, however, get my hair cut exactly right unlike the last lady at that place who made me look like a mushroom.
I guess I should get to writing a cover letter and fine-tuning my resume. I don’t have the familiarity with HR that this job I’m applying for requires, but I do have some office administration experience and vast amounts of experience in putting up with BS.
My veggies and berries are planted. I still have to do the peas and I have some flower seeds to go into pots. I watered the planters out front - they were dust-dry. I think I may get some marigolds or petunias to put in them. But not today. I’m done. Maybe I’ll knit.
I don’t wanna go to work tomorrow. I think my inner fed-up worker is saying it’s time to retire…
oh yeah - I’m red as a lobster today. bleh. But at least the major hurting has subsided
I tried deep fried pickles for the first and last time ever. I don’t even like dill pickles, but I was trying to be a good sport. I ate about two of the pickle chips. Bleh! Bleh, I say!
Other than that, my lunch was good. Hell, as full as we all are; I think that lunch and dinner.
I’ve got the dogs kennel blankets in the washing machine and I’ve got a few other loads of laundry to do. Other than that, I plan to take the day easy.
Howdy y’all! Ye gods, funny story about the Presiding Bishop, Spaz! Oh yeah, the ECUSA is a bunch of radicals, can you imagine - a female Presiding Bishop and gasp an openly gay Bishop (who was duly elected by his own diocese, mind you).
I’ve been watching movies much of the day - I saw one from 1979 called “Heartland,” which was about a pioneer woman named Elinore Stewart; in the movie she’s listed as Elinore Russell Stewart, but it’s based on a real life woman named Elinore Pruitt Stewart. She went to Wyoming, a widow w/a 7 yo daughter, to be a housekeeper for a rancher, and they ended up marrying within a couple of months. The movie didn’t pull any punches, suprisingly - it was definitely not hearts and flowers, let me tell you. She was pregnant and gave birth in mid-winter. The baby got sick and died. I didn’t realize it was based on a real couple until I was watching the credits, so I went out on the Internet to find out more about them. Most of the info out there is about Elinore, whose letters were published in Atlantic Monthly back in the early nineteen teens (1913-1914). I think I’ve gotta look up more information on this couple.
I don’t want to go to work tomorrow either, FCM! I do have a doctor’s appt. in the morning, so I won’t get in until around 11 or noon.
I’m going to continue to chill out, I think. I’ve gotta have blood work drawn tomorrow AM, so that means no food/drink after 8 pm. Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of their weekend.
The pet sitters just left. I like them, Tisiphone likes them, and they have great references, yay! That’s one more thing off the vacation checklist. I forgot how time consuming it is to go away on vacation!
Everybody should know a hard-partying Episcopal Priest. Did y’all look under the fruit? I bet she was smugglin’ in a bottle of gin and a liter of tonic water. Oh and I did add “for Spaz’s irkplace”, durin’ Prayers of The People when we prayed for the PB.
Today, besides deheathenization, I have lunched, done laundry, napped and visited a co-parishoner/neighbor who is in the hospital. Yeah, livin’ it up!
Glad the pet sitters are nice, Shadow, and glad the hurting is subsiding, rosie.
I spent about 3 1/2 hours in the garden, mostly planting stuff. I planted a few annuals that will be OK if it gets cold again, and a few perennials. So the very front of my house looks quite springy. I am very proud that I planted every one of the plants that I bought today, so there will be no plants sadly waiting around for me. Yay!
I also don’t feel like working tomorrow. But I will. I’m thinking about taking Good Friday and Easter Monday off since my nephew is off those days and will be here.
Hope everyone is having a pleasant Sunday evening.
We don’t have anyone signed up for tomorrow, so first one who feels like it can get us started…
Hugs.
