Beer Can E.D. and The Mother Yeast, The MMP

toally off topic (no flirting, no playground antics)
did I tell youse guys my chorus is singing 'It’s Raining Men"? We just found out, last week, that we are to be the host chorus for September’s convention. it also means we perform Saturday night. This is very big. For no other reason than the income it will generate for us (we get a stipend for hosting, and keep the boutique profits)
The best new is we added six new members, and there are 4 more getting ready to audition. That means we could go into contest in April with 51 (plus the director) on stage. That puts us very solidly in the mid size category. And if the director’s reaction is any indication on how we’re improving (just adding 10 more voices does wonders) we could earn a medal. But that’s 8 months away. Meanwhile, we have 6 weeks to put together an exciting boutique so that the rest of the region will fork over their money to us.

Did you know that Paul Shaffer wrote that song? (I assume you do)

tosses a sardine down the back of your pants

What, you don’t like fluffy cats?

…either that or jumbo shrimp!

…popcorn shrimp…it’s cold in here, don’t giggle. you’ll hurt Toby’s feelings.

hah! I’m not wearing any right now, so it lands on the floor and pleases Smokey no end

Meh. I can still get cute college coeds…the ones on Girls Gone Wild!

Well, don’t press your nose too hard against the rest of them in your pillowcase…
G’night!

Let’s all sing along with BioRosie!

Howdy y’all! Another eventful night at da brewry. Let me tell y’all sump’n <snerk>worthy. Whenever we get to the end of a <snerk> beer run <snerk> we have to manually <snerk> push in <snerk> the rest of the beer into the pasteurizer. Yep, it’s called a <snerk> push in <snerk>. When the beer comes out the other side of the pasteurizer we have to <snerk> pull out <snerk> the beer. Yep, it’s called a <snerk> pull out <snerk>. When the last of the <snerk> beer run <snerk> gets to packing, that end of the run is called a <snerk> put out <snerk>.

It looks like my juvenile self has finally found its ultimate place of employment.

Yays, boos, hugs, woohoos, awws, etc as appropriate. Ima have me a beerverage then beddybye time.

Nitey nite Y’all!

P.S. doggio and LOUNE git off’n muh lawn ya whippersnappers! :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Anniversary to the McUnes! I know I’m late, but I still wanted to give you my good wishes.

Tomorrow, I need to try and get my son in to the see the doctor. He’s had a horrible cough for going on two weeks now, and shows no sign of improvement. He started out with a cough, then it progressed to a stuffy head, snotty nose along with the cough. He’s not running a fever, but I FREAKED OUT when he told me he’s lost nearly 15 pounds in the last two weeks. Of course, I wasn’t told about the weight loss until 7:00 pm tonight. That just isn’t right for a 14 year old kid. He’s not overweight by any stretch of the imagination and never has been.

I don’t know what to think. He’s never had bronchitis, but did suffer a couple bouts of pneumonia when he was a wee baby. Maybe it’s a cough/head cold that has progressed to a sinus infection. I dunno, hopefully we’ll find out tomorrow.

At any rate, I want to see some improvement before we leave for our trip. I guess I should have taken him in sooner, but since he wasn’t running a fever, I just thought he had a bad cold. I feel like a terrible mother. I should have known better; he is rarely ill and his colds never hang on this long. :smack: :frowning:

I am finally on vacation. The next few days however will prove to be extremely busy.

This morning, I was out having a smoke at work, when one of the regular smokers showed up. We were discussing my vacation plans when I mentioned that I had already started a packing list on an excel spreadsheet with boxes for stuff being prepped in coolers, bins, bags and another box to be checked when said stuff was packed in the Expedition or boat. I also explained the list was broken out into categories.

For example, I have food categories: one for food that must be kept in the cooler and another category for food can be stored in a box or bin. There are several other categories.

At this point, the individual I was talking to said I had been working with computers for far too long. He kind of implied I was a bit anal. Hmm, maybe I am with regard to this; but on the other hand, I never forget anything.

Well, I think I’m going to watch a bit of television. I didn’t really get to sit down to relax until 9:45 this evening. I was busy with errands, cooking dinner, and finally putting together a counter height stool to use upstairs in the bonus room. It has a back, so the kids’ back won’t be sore when they’re using the computer upstairs.

Off to relax for a bit…

PObliartoy durnken poset for are you lovelies!

It’s amazing how better you feel after having a couple beers (or five) with friends.

Mildly amusing anecdote: So tonight it was basically me, That Guy, Minister’s Lad, and another mutual friend having some beers at our local bar. Our friend got a job teaching philosophy of logic at a college out in the 'burbs. That Guy was ribbing him about how the hell was he going to teach logic when he’s the most illogical person we know (he is, a bit) when I broke in flatly:

“If you can teach Ethics, then he can teach logics.”

There was silence for a split second, then everyone burst out laughing. It’s the closest I’ve ever gotten to mentioning our whole fiasco out loud in front of people, but he totally deserved it. Hah.

Taters, I’m sorry to hear your son is doing poorly. I hope he feels better soon!

Thank Og it’s Friday.

That is all.

Good morning Haze! Hows the head?. Friday, truck day, fun. [sub][sub]Whee[/sub][/sub].

Thanks again everyone for the anniversary wishes!!

Happy Friday!! So happy it’s Friday.

Got some good news yesterday, I have a phone interview for a new job on Monday. YAY! Best of all, it’s part time. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

I’m tired this morning, boos, yays, hugs, songs, dances, as appropriate.

I’ve been making lists, stocking the house with teenage chow, searching for a piece of still missing luggage, checking in with my daughter everyday, finishing HPVII, etc. etc. and blah blah blah. I don’t know if I will have time to poke my head back in here before Monday at the earliest, but I did want to share the best news.

My granddaughter has been firmly breech, as I have shared with you fine people, and my daughter went to the doctor last Friday to have a checkup and discuss her options. When the doctor found the heartbeat lower than usual she performed a quick ultrasound, and baby Mattea is now heading down in the correct birthing position. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, I know that they helped. Tomorrow is another visit to the doctor, last Friday she was dilated almost to one centimeter, and this week she has been having Braxton Hicks contractions. I don’t arrive in Anchorage until Sunday evening, and she has been instructed to keep her knees together until I arrive!

I am also looking forward to experiencing some summer, Anchorage is having nice warm (hot to we island folk) summer weather, so I am dragging out my lightweight clothes. We have a trip planned to Portage to see the glacier, and who knows what else we will do, it all depends on when Mattea decided to make her arrival.

I am no where close to being caught up with the MMP this week, although I did want to say nice OP to swampy, I was beaten to the punch on the sourdough mother/starter, but if you want to look into scary yeastie beasties, check out the vinegar mother here!

More to come, once I am 250 mile NE of K Town, be good, play nicely, and I love you all!

Good morning, everyone!

Heh. Go Hank! So, was he even embarrassed?

Hope your son is better soon, Taters.

Don’t look behind you, LOUNE. No reason. Really.

Off to water the garden.

GT

Hmmm, missed McUne’s and kai’s posts. Sounds like your daughter and Local Best Friend will be having babies about the same time, kai. Have a good trip and keep us posted!

GT::Looks around nervously for signs of LOUNE::

G’mornin’, folks.
Mornings suck, but it’s the best of mornings (if there is such a thing) and that is Friday morning.

At least I get fed today at work. That’s a plus.

tacklehugs gt

I missed it, but Happy Anniversary, McUnes!

Way to go, Haze!

Have fun, Kai!

Good morning and Happy Friday all! I have today off, so double yay! Not much planned today, except a doctor’s appt at 10:15 and a deposit to make at the bank. And pay the apartment rent. And a few other things that I’m sure I will think of later.

And make a list for vacation! We booked our trip last night. 10 days in sunny Daytona Beach. I’m so excited!!! It’s a long way away still, but less than a month!

K, I’ll shut up now.

gee, Smokey must have found those, too, because she kept trying to push my head out of the way . . .

Meanwhile. weird dreaam involving Ted Danson, some really nasty red wine, and my mom chopping celery and pencils in the kitchen . . . .

off to work - see you this evening. Don’t y’all have too much fun without me.

It’s anal to make a list for vacation? Your coworker clearly doesn’t understand proper organization, Taters – heck, I make a list if I’m going out of town overnight! And of course it’s on the computer; I don’t normally use Excel because I don’t have that much to organize for just us, but I at least put it in a table. I do, however, have a nice spreadsheet of my yarn stash, organized by weight of yarn and including details down to the dye lot #. Hey, if I lose a label and want to see if I can get more of the same dye lot, it’s important!

What am I doing up at this hour, you may ask? Urgh. Caffeinating and recovering from taking Papa Tigs to the airport. I hate, hate, hate driving to BWI; I always make a wrong turn somewhere, and this time was no exception, especially on four hours’ sleep. First I missed the almost completely unmarked exit out of the airport proper, and then when I finally got turned around several miles later, I made another wrong turn back onto the airport loop road. So I saw far more of the area around BWI than I wanted to. And of course, after getting up at 0 dark 30 to take him in plenty of time to allow for the hideous security line at the airport, which at this time of day often takes upwards of two hours, he got through security in under 10 minutes. :smack:

But I drank too much caffeine to go back to sleep right now. So I guess I’ll work for a while and then take a nice loooong nap later. I don’t do well on four hours’ sleep, at least not if I can help it!

Have fun in Anchorage, kai, and I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of your new grandbaby!

In terrible hurry; must get to work.

NYC friends have been awesome to have here–will miss them.

HAZE–that SO rocks. Good on you and yay etc. I bet that felt good!
More later. Happy Friday!
