Better Call Saul 2.02 "Cobbler" 2/22/16

If you scroll down to the older comments, it appears that this a real fetish.

No, the wonderful Brie Larson (who is the favorite to win the best actress Oscar on Sunday) sitting on pies.

Actually a young woman in this case. For Internet titallation and extra spending money. The show is about a woman (Toni Colette) with multiple personality disorder. And her family. Her daughter sits on pies for more disposable income in an episode or two. It’s a great series.

I’m a little surprised about one aspect of this episode. When Mike tried to get the cards back from Nacho and revealed the police were poking into Price’s life, Nacho was rather indifferent to the whole affair.

Price is clearly an idiot, and under interrogation would surely reveal he had been selling boxes of Oxy to Nacho for weeks. That would get the police poking into Nacho’s life as they continue their investigation.

In Season 1 Nacho got quite upset with Jimmy that the police were nosing about his business after he got picked up for the Kettleman’s supposed murder. Yet here, when the police are threatening to return into his life, he doesn’t care. His change in attitude didn’t make sense.

Well, with the Kettlemans, he was being accused of something he didn’t do. Not so much in this case.

This show is turning out much better than I expected. I just love all the detail and the great camera work, and the storytelling. The actor playing Saul is really pulling off a difficult task to make the spin-off as interesting as the original.

So, was that Gus who is Jimmy’s brother’s helper?

I’ve been re-watching "Breaking Bad" (Sundance Channel’s been running four episodes every Wednesday night) and have been coming up with questions of where they’re going to take "Better Call Saul"

• I forgot that Mike worked more with Gus than he did with Saul. Will they introduce Gus at some point near the end of the series run? In fact, it was on the episode “Boxcutter” that we first meet Saul’s bodyguard.

• In BB season 3 episode, “Abiquiu”, while driving Walt to the car wash, Jimmy tells Walt that he actually convinced a woman that he was Kevin Costner. Which we got to see in last season’s season finale.

• I wonder, how will BCS end? Will we see more of Jimmy in present day time? (like they’ve begun each season with) Would they actually do full episodes with present day Jimmy?

… you’re joking right? That kid looks like he’s 16 (I did look up the actor and he’s actually 25 - still very young). Gus / Giancarlo Esposito is in his 50s in BB. There’s only a few years gap between now and then in the show’s timeline, not ~30.

That said I did see a resemblance as well and would not be surprised if he turns out to be a relative. He even has a Spanish name (the character is named Ernesto).

Assuming you’re referring here to Mike, we first meet him in “ABQ”, the last episode of the second season, right after Jesse wakes up to find Jane dead.“Boxcutter” is the first episode of the fourth season.

You’re correct that Mike at first appears to be more of a freelancer for Saul, and (we later find), a full-time employee of Gus.

AFAIK, we first here Mike referred to (as “my investigator”) when Saul uses him to track down Walt (who had used a pseudonym when they met) in “Better Call Saul”, the eighth episode of the second season (which is also the first episode we met Saul).

Mike is Saul’s investigator. Saul’s bodyguard is named Huell.

No, I meant Huell. With the events leading up to "Boxcutter, everything’s beginning to spiral downward for Walt & Jesse. Gus is really showing his power, so much so, that Saul is searching his office for any bugging devices and has Huell sitting in the waiting room keeping an eye out.

Right. So I’m guessing that we’ll eventually have to have Gus enter the picture since he’s more associated with Mike than Saul was with Mike.

That’s a good point. My only guess is that it was because he thought he was covered enough so the cops couldn’t trace anything to him, and because Price is a big idiot. Even if Price cracked, he could probably only give them Nacho’s burner cell number, and a vague description of him, and the place they met. Nacho was surprised and upset that Mike was able to find him, so he had thought that he would be difficult to find. And if the cops tried to set up a sting, with Price arranging a meeting with Nacho, obviously he wouldn’t fall for it.

For some reason, I was thinking that Gus’s real name was Ernesto, but maybe not…

He was only on screen for a moment, and even then in the background.

You mean Gene.

No, he was called Gustavo Fring when people used his full name.

His name was McGill,
And he called himself Gene,
But everyone knew him as Goodman

So if the lyrics provide a clue for the arc of the show, then we may expect Kim to run off with another guy (who will hit young McGill in the eye–oh, wait, McGill IS the one who will run off with another guy…never mind.)

Sweet Kimmy modern
Thought she was a woman
But she was another man

Nah, he’s been in 3 different episodes so far. We’ve seen him plenty. I think him being a relative of Gus is a strong possibility, but how they’re going to tie that in is anyone’s guess.

You mean anyone’s Gus?
