Better Call Saul - Finale

Jimmy’s not that dumb, even with his big brother. It was disappointing.

Mc Kean deserves an Emmy for this season. Just for the hospital scenes alone.

Again… I’m glad others feel this way too.

Now that could be a whole new episode right there.

Sorry. Didn’t read the whole thread, just a few posts from the last page or two. I just finished watching the episode tonight.

NP - I just felt the same while I watched it, and wondered if others did too… and it would seem, we’re in the minority as to this.

Psst…you forgot to tell him to see post #125.

I made my point.

Jimmy confessing to Chuck was entirely in character. He’s a schemer, but he truly does love his brother and thought confessing was worth it. It may have been a lapse in judgment, but it’s not a writing failure as some others think.

I strongly doubt Howard has any knowledge of Chuck’s scheme. From the beginning he’s been consistently straightforward. If Chuck tried to involve him in those kinds of shenanigans, I think it would be the final straw that convinces him Chuck has become more of a liability than an asset.

Actually, you didn’t.

See post #125.

Sure I did, and in the real world, Kevin would demand to know how his bank’s confidential documents ended up in a public copy shop. You can deny it all you like, but it’s what would happen in the real world. Chuck cannot wiggle out of this.

True dat. Chuck can be satisfied that he knows what went down, but he won’t be able to do anything about it. Charlie Hustle really did demonstrate the meticulousness with which he could pull off a scam when need be.

Right on, Biff. In fact, my fav episode was the ‘slippin Jimmy’ episode where his friend died. GREAT writing!

I have to agree with btcg on this one - even though the show probably won’t go down this path, proper handling of client paperwork is Compliance 101 and even if it could be proven that Chuck was as meticulous as he could be it would still be argued as to why the hell would HHM even allow someone with Chuck’s condition, one known to require hospitalization and feature episodes of catatonia, to check out the documents in the first place. “He was senior partner” isn’t going to cut it in front of the ethics committee.

But, like I said, the show probably won’t go down this route.

They were stolen from his home. Again, this is not NSA-level stuff. It was some routine paperwork to file for a new bank branch. There’s only one person who’s been watching too much TV here, and it ain’t me.

Read the previous post: he explains it better than I did.

I thought I was supposed to refer to post #125.

is there something in the water, here?

Misplacing info is a BIG DEAL in my shop as well. Any paperwork with personally identifiable information has to be logged in and out, all work only to be done on shop laptops - which are to be kept in locked cabinets at home when not in use, etc.

Even if paperwork or a computer were stolen, there would be repercussions. Simply having them on a desk in a banker’s box would be an insufficient defense.

Of course, I haven’t read post 125…

And if Robert DeNiro can be believed, interns come in all ages…

I have no gripes about the finale, loved it - the acting, strong storylines, the masterful cinematography. In the desert, with Mike’s finger on the trigger, Nacho covering Hector like he knew Mike was out there … or maybe that wasn’t Nacho. My heart stopped when I heard the crickets go silent. Great scene.

Yep, probably Gus who left the note. Maybe Gus knows about Mike through Nacho. Maybe Gilligan and Gould had planned to bring Fring back for the finale, even filmed it, but when we all started playing anagrams, maybe they decided not to … just to show us who’s boss.

I felt all along that Chuck was a master villian, a little crazy yes, but highly intelligent, cunning and calculating. And mean as a snake. Note that he finally tries Jimmy’s way of solving problems - flim-flam and trickery.

The way he used his brother’s love against him to destroy him was mean. Look at all the trouble he went to - telling Howard he quit HHM, papering his house with mylar and aluminum foil. How many days did that take? Acting like he didn’t want Jimmy to come in, acting like he was at the end of his rope, saying his bank mistake hurt a client, and ‘it’s time to end it.’

Which alarms Jimmy of course, so he says, 'you can relax, okay? ‘Cause that brain of yours is chugging along at 1,000% efficiency. It was me … I did it for Kim.’

I admire how Jimmy always stood by his brother, no matter what dispicable things Chuck did behind the scenes to bring Jimmy down - not hiring him at HHM when Jimmy got his law degree after years of studying at night and working in the mail room by day.

And it was downright mean not telling Jimmy that their mother called out his name. People important in Chuck’s life find Jimmy loveable - their mother, Chuck’s wife - and his irrational jealousy is eating him up, literally driving him crazy.

People are saying that BCS has evolved into the Jimmy vs. Chuck story, which is fine with me, I find it fascinating. I love how the writers have slowly crafted this story, this relationship. layer upon layer … pulling me in deeper and deeper.

I keep remembering Chuck’s framed family photos of him and Jimmy as youngsters - maybe Chuck still loves Jimmy enough not to completely destroy him, maybe the only thing Chuck wants to do with that tape is bargain with it, to keep any monkey with a machine gun named McGill from practicing law.

But if Chuck wants to restore his own reputation, he’ll have to bring everything to light to get Jimmy disbarred. Would he also bring down Kim? Since Gimmie Jimmy morphed into Better Call Saul, probably not.

Anyway, betcha Jimmy gets to that tape …

Love Jimmy’s relationship with Kim. Love the way she loves him, is loyal to him, tries to help him - but still punches hell out of his arm when he’s gone over the top. But after Chuck’s fraud accusation, she wavers between her career and her morality. Rhea Seehorn is sooo good in this role.

Another riveting scene in the hospital with Chuck on the gurney - someone said it was shot like an alien abduction - I actually started to feel dizzy and buzzy.

Ernie said he lied to protect Jimmy from Chuck, who was trying to destroy him, that Jimmy was his friend (from mailroom days?). What did Ernie say as he was walking away from Jimmy? Something about wanting to be back in the mailroom?

Mom’s surprise birthday party must’ve been a hoot. Two of Jimmy’s girlfriends showed up? “Tricky on the dance floor.” Mom had to drive one of them home? Chuck called it a mess that the family had to clean up.

Love the cheesy commercial, and he shot it ‘dirt cheap.’

“You are the greatest generation. You didn’t start World War II, but you sure as heck finished it. And if that weren’t enough, you sent a rocket, 300 feet tall, to the moon. Now, in your golden years, you need someone looking out for you, someone you can trust, a man who says what he does and does what he says. When you need someone to count on. … Jimmy McGill, a lawyer you can trust.”

And the elders came flocking in. Thing is, the good guy in him truly wants to help them.

Sorry for rambling, but I Love This Show. Can’t wait for Season 3!
