I guess that, up until his marriage to Bernie, he had been spending all his money on comic books, various sci-fi collectibles, and the occasional prostitute.
Now that she has completed her doctorate and works for a big bio-tech firm, Bernadette has some major income, and can afford to buy him a vehicle.
My broadcast in Orlando lacked the character audio for most of the show. I could hear the audience fine. Later that evening there was a blurb that they would rebroadcast the show in the AM. Since no one else mentioned this, it must be a problem with local station. I got by okay on the closed captions, but it is a little annoying to actually look at the television all the time.
I wonder what sort technical glitch could mute the dialog but leave the audience reaction alone? The only thing I could thing of is that they are on different channels on the stereo.
I don’t know, the catfight wasn’t that much different than the old Dallas shows when Pam and Sue Ellen would fight as surrogates for Bobby and J.R. (on those rare occasions when Sue Ellen and J.R. got along). To me it just shows the intensity of their love for their menfolk.
He didn’t really need a car until this week. The scooter gave them gag potential. And it’s not like he splurged on the car, either. That wasn’t a Porsche he was driving.
eta: Unless Penny has been waxing Leonard (I wouldn’t put it past Howard), the initial conversation up the stairs wasn’t about the guys, so it passes.

Dropping some of the channels in a multi-channel system. E.g., if you drop the front channels (dialogue) and air only the rear channels (audience) in a standard surround-sound system, you’d get something like that.
It was very strange, I checked the low-def channel, ran around to my other TVs trying to get sound. I did tape it at 3:10 AM and watched it this morning. Might not have been worth the effort as it wasn’t up to par IMO.
Had some sort of glitch at my house, too…the episode did not record. I could not watch live as my Saints were busy getting their ass handed to them, and breaking Drew Brees’ consecutive game w/TD pass streak, along with my heart.
So I watched it online at the CBS website. First time I have done that. Pretty nifty-no commercials.
Funny episode–but once again conduct that has criminal consequences in real life is blown off for laughs. Howard assaulted Sheldon with a vehicle, and also committed burglary. Amy apparently committed indecent exposure in the backseat of her car, Sheldon committed that and/or public nudity in Howard’s car, Sheldon and Amy committed vandalism, and Amy committed simple assault on Penny and attempted assault against Bernadette.
When the only person who could have seen Amy’s wax job was Sheldon, I’d hardly call that indecent exposure. Similarly, who could have really seen Sheldon’s genitals in Howard’s car?
Peer pressure. I’m sure that Penny and Bernadette got waxed at the same time. But because they weren’t starting from scratch, it wasn’t so much of an ordeal. Amy probably could have posed for a PETA poster.
It’s not a violation of a Pasadena City ordinance either.
*9.28.030 - Exposure by either sex.
Every person is guilty of a misdemeanor who:
A.
Exposes his or her private parts or buttocks or employs any device or covering which is intended to simulate the private parts or pubic hair while participating in any live act, demonstration or exhibition in any public place, place open to the public, or place open to public view, or while serving food or drink or both to any customer; or
B.
Permits, procures, assists or employs any person to so expose himself or herself, or to employ any such device.
(Ord. 5017 § 3, 1971)*
Inside a car below the window line isn’t “open to public view.” You could still get arrested for it, but a decent lawyer could get you off.
