"Bill and Ted: Face the Music" out this summer. Will it be excellent or heinous?

Trailer here:

That trailer is inconclusive, but I get a little bit of a bogus vibe. Maybe because 50-somethings acting like teenage stoners is just, kinda sad?

I want to like it, because Keanu.

It might work but that trailer isn’t enough to get me to go see it at the movies. I’ll probably wait for the cable release.

I thought the second movie was hit-and-miss so I’m skeptical about a third movie.

I really want to like it. Despite the trailer, I hope the movie shows that these two are functioning adults who can still connect with their silly, youthful sides. I’m sure I’ll watch it when it comes around free to stream.

I’m counting on it being non-, non-non-, non-non-non, NON-heinous. I recently introduced my teenage kids and Gen-Z nieces and nephews to B&T I and II and they loved them so I guess those movies have aged pretty well.

I saw the original film on cable a few months ago, and it’s something of a miracle that it works as well as it does, because it’s totally stupid. The second is perhaps more stupid, but I did laugh at the scene in which they played Twister with the Grim Reaper. I’m not hopeful about this third one.

I love both the first two, and I really want this to be good. From what I’ve heard about it so far, it at least has a chance of being a worthy successor. But the trailer doesn’t make me any more eager to see it than I was already.

Bill and Ted both look kind of worn out in the trailer but I would imagine that’s what they’re going for in the movie. More importantly, Bill Sadler is back as Death, baby!

I will see it for sure (though probably not until it’s available via streaming) because B & T are close to my heart. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but is it possible that Keanu doesn’t do a good Keanu anymore? It’s as if, after all the years the haters said the only role he was good in was as a stoner, and now (I think anyway) he’s proven himself to be good in other roles but has lost his Ted mojo?

Woah.

This is one of the longest gaps from prior movie to sequel. I know we just had a Mary Poppin’s sequel and it shared 1 actor at least with the original. This movie has the 2 stars and others from the prior movie though. Impressive.

I really hope that Teds day job is ‘hitman’.

This is a good day to start this thread. It’s 6/9 - their favorite number.

Yes. It’s just a trailer but from what is shown it seems like Alex Winter seemed to slip back into character with relative ease while Keanu either can’t do it or doesn’t want to do it.

Shouldn’t the thread title say “excellent or bogus”?

I want to like it, but the trailer didn’t do it any favors. Hopefully it’s just a matter of the humor not translating well to this format.

Heinous is correct, although odious would also be accepted. From billandted.org:

Yeah, I was going to go with “excellent or bogus” but I thought “excellent or heinous” covered a better range. I briefly considered “excellent, bogus, or heinous?”

Aye. Mr. Reeves’ face looked frozen or something and his tone of voice wasn’t at all right.

Still, there’s no way I’m not seeing this and I remain hopeful that it will not totally suck.

Any sequel for B&T needed to be made before the death of George Carlin, just like any Ghostbuster sequel needed to be made before the loss of Harold Ramis.

Uh, I thought the second one was a huge improvement over the original.

I’m looking forward to this one.
