Bing Bong, The Bitch is NOT Dead

. . . a registered Democrat and resident of the Fourth Congressional District of Gerogia (McKinney’s) chiming in here.

I have wondered when this thread (tu qoque title or no) would appear, as I have been too busy to post about the incident myself.

The “slap” pre-dates the Delay announcement by a fucking week, so it’s not exactly the timeliest thing going on here, but whatever – it affects me, maybe that’s why I am more aware of it.

FTR, McKinney is a disgrace to her position and her constituents, and she has been for a while. It has nothing to do with her race, it has to do with the asshole she uses as a mouth and the shit she has for brains (Yes she was replaced once, in 2002, by another black woman, Denise Majette – the one the J-E-W-S got elected – who had impeccable education and credentials but who got a little too big for her britches and challenged Johnny Isakson for Zell Miller’s vacating Senate seat in '04. I don’t think the 4th will ever forgive Denise for that).

McKinney does shit for her District – she’s too busy grandstanding with irrelevant legislation aimed at the exhumation of Tupac, or some such, but she is wildly popular among many blacks folks for her “take it to the man” mentality. Thing is, some of these folks have plenty of good reasons to pissed at white folks and McKinney serves as a mouthpiece for their frustrations.

What to do? In all likelihood, with the rapid gentrification of in-town Atlanta, McKinney may only have a few terms left (not to say that she’ll be replaced by a white person – although it is an unfortunate reality of Georgia politics that votes often fall along racial lines, the 4th is a pretty diverse, fairly liberal district that, even if it did become predominately white again, would have no problem putting a black person in office).

Now on to the issues raised in this thread.

re: Arresting a member of the house while Congress is in session – note that she wasn’t arrested – she was stopped. Why? Because she breezed through a security check – period. She has still yet to be charged.

the lapel pin – lots of representatives don’t were them, don’t blame it all on that

why wasn’t she recognized – even assuming this guard knew McKinney and recognized her from the 400 plus other house members who run for and sometimes lose reelection bids every two years, she has done two things recently to change her appearance: 1) she’s stacked on some lbs.; and 2. she’s traded her Allen Iverson doo for the Sideshow Bob look. Why can’t this come down to an honest mistake by the guard? Making this a race issue does a disservice to the victims of true racial discrimination. Making this a race issue trivializes “racism.”

To suggest that this cop shoudl be fired because he didn’t recognize one of over 400 representatives who has recently changed her appearance is just really stupid. It’s not his job to recognise her. It’s his job to keep the building secure.

Now, to those who equate this instance – not McKinney’s overall history – with what DeLay is accused of – you are the worst kind of un-American*, partisan scum, that or moron, low-grade.

  • it’s the new, go to insult

I try not to think about that.

by playing the race-card, McKinney has made it a bigger story than you give it credit for being. At least, IMO. Then again, I have to (not) vote for her this fall, so it hits close to home.

That’s a load of bullshit. Seriously, have you even read this thread? 3 points for you to consider:

  1. There are approximately 600 members of congress. Yeah, picking them all out of the thousands who walk through the Capital entrance each day shouldn’t be “all that difficult” . Especially if you’re…

  2. New to the fucking job. You did know the officer was new, right? Spotting one person out of 600 should be extremely easy during your first days on the job even if the congresswoman in question…

  3. Drastically changes her appearance. Now, I realize that some might argue with the term “drastically”, but I didn’t even recognize her recent picture and I live in her district.
I tried really hard to stay away from any thread that deals with this petty political bickering, but claiming that it shouldn’t be all that difficult for this guy to spot McKinney given the circumstances is fucking stupid.

She may be a loon, but at least she isn’t a quitter like your boy DeLay. He takes a little stick in the press and folds like a cheap lawn chair, skipping town with all his ill-gotten campaign donations from K Street. If he isn’t guilty, why is he acting like it?

Hell, your gym has better security than some US airports.

Am I the only one who is amazes that whole bean knows the number of his Congressional District? Or maybe it’s just that I live in CA (land of 10,000 Congressional districts), and none of my acquaintances knows the number of the district he or she lives in.

Nice summary!

No one here has done this that I’m aware of, although at least one poster has tried, unsuccessfully, to paint the OP as having done so. I have to say that’s really just a strawman. The title was a lame parody of another thread, but the OP outlines a clear case against her, without comparing her to anyone else in Congress or out.

Et tu, quoque?

For anyone paying attention, that’s what a tu quoque looks like.

Unsuccessfully my ass.

Of course, that’s what this whole thread is about. It is just another transparent attempt by **Shodan ** to deflect attention away from DeLay by a lame comparision to whats-her-name. I don’t deny it, I’m just playing along.

Gotta know where to go to vote. There are like seven districts in the Atlanta area and some mighty fine gerrymandering – the poor old 13th has been sliced clean in half by 4th and 5th.

thanks

If it ain’t already come up (and I ain’t sayin it hadn’t) then it was bound to.

So Tom Delay is a conniving wanker who should be imprisoned.

That forgives this arrogant lunatic’s dismissal of the basic rules of security for the capital building?

That allows you to call anyone who things McKinney is out of order a freak?

Seriously.

Fuck off you clown.

Has anyone in this thread said that McKinney should be forgiven?

Plenty of people on both sides of the aisle have said McKinney was out of order. That’s a separate issue from Stephe96 being a freak.

That wasn’t my point. No need to bring Delay into this at all. It’s a thread about McKinney and it’s a disservice to introduce such a strawman.

And askeptic is still a clown.

And it’s worked; 114 posts to 38.

Both McKinney and DeLay are despicable. That’s all I have to say.

The OP is the one who brought McKinney into a discussion about Delay. You can say it’s a thread about McKinney, but the thread title was a direct play on the Delay thread title.

Not equally.

If you mean you pulled the charge out of your ass, then I agree with you. You’ve given ZERO evidence to back up your case. I call that unsuccessful.

But let me lay out the evidence you do have: a parodied thread title. BFD. A tu quoque, by it’s nature, is a response in a debate that “you do it, too”. This is a completely seperate topic that has, I said earlier, been in the news a lot lately. There is no interruption of the ongoing “debate” in the other thread, except that you choose to post here instead of there. Unless you have mind reading powers that the rest of us don’t have, then I’m afraid your case is thrown out for lack of evidence.

Next!

I did not know the OP brought McKinney into the pit thread about Delay. That changes things a little. That said, there was no need to bring Delay into this thread nor is it worth it to call people freaks.

The implication is “you’re just as bad.” I don’t know if you are saying that that’s technically not a tu quoque or if you’re legitimately missing the obvious reference. Either way, while I almost always respect your positions, John, it seems you’re being dense.
