Dude, keep up. I didn’t say steph was a freak because she said something bad about some asshat politico. McKinney may indeed be a piece of shit. I do not know or care.
This issue is over a week old. You really think its a coincidence that Shodan picked today to post it and a coincidence that he played on the name of the DeLay thread. I was commenting on the stupidity of bringing this issue up in response to criticism of DeLay.
The issue on its own has merit, but this thread given its title and timing, is rediculous. And those trying to insinuate that it is anything other than what it is are either disengenuous or stupid. Steph is still a freak though but for other reasins.
FWIW, this in no way excuses what McKinney did. Even if she had been wearing her pin, she’d have had no justification for punching the cop. But what she did isn’t any justification for this sorta crap either.
I wanted to start a Pit thread on her. Just couldn’t decide whether to use ‘Zsa Zsa McKinney’ or ‘Cyn Thia Gabor’ as a title. Would either of those have any DeLay connotations?
This douchebag kills me. Why I listen to him, I’ll never know. He insists that discriminating against someone based on race is not “racist.”* Dude needs to get a new dictionary, preferably not the Roberty Byrd/David Duke/Trent Lott version.
*anyone arguing that he didn’t say this exact thing is flat wrong. I heard it with me own ears this morning. According to Boortz, racism refers only to the belief in a superiority of a race. What a tool.
For those of you who think I’ve improperly defined the word, suck it
prong? what the fuck are you talking about. the word has mulitple meanings. it’s not a mutli-part test. he’s not right. he’s wrong. and I am dumber for having read your post
Not to put too fine a point on it, but so what? You are the person who is trying to hijack this thread, not the OP.
As for the timing of the post, apparently you didn’t click on the first link, because that news article is dated today. The cops are trying to get an arrest warrant. It’s still current news.
Frankly (and to say something on-topic) I hope she gets busted. There is no excuse for this sort of arrogance, and there is absolutely no excuse for assault and battery. The guy was just trying to do his job and keep the building secure. Bitch-lady is one of over 400 Representatives. She ain’t as special as she seems to think she is, except perhaps in the “Special Olympics” sense. Zsa Zsa Gabor didn’t get away with this kind of abuse, and neither should McKinney.
If the story’s true as written, McKinney was stupid, careless, and arrogant. Which may indeed put her nicely in line with 90% of the rest of Congress, but that doesn’t matter: when those people commit idiotic, disrespectful or illegal acts, I want 'em to take responsibility for it too.
Of course in the big scheme of things, the McKinney mini-scandal is extremely unimportant. Certainly doesn’t affect anyone other than her and the cop. Still, it’s a nasty little story about someone who needs to chill the fuck out and fight the battles that should be fought, not imaginary enemies.
Heh. That may be, but I really don’t think it’s that difficult to remember one of only 12 black women in Congress. They kinda stand out, don’tcha think?
In other news… it’s funny, I was just wondering: in light of Updike’s bannination, who else is there at the Dope to represent that all-important constituency of spittle-spewing, submoronic reactionaries? When I saw this thread and the outrageous amount of bile in the OP, I thought: “Hm, I guess Shodan is taking up the burden. Wasn’t really expecting that, but okay.”
Only now do I see just how clever Shodan really is. His real aim seems to have been creating a “safe” environment in order to coax out some of his lesser compatriots on the right. Sure enough, here are New Iskander and Stephe96 to add perspective once more: Shodan ain’t the biggest prick in the pack, and there really are those to whom he may be positively compared.
Uppity bitch can be applied to anyone who acts like one as she seems to do. While it’s not a nice phrase, it does not automatically make [del]Askeptic[/del] [Lord Ashtar] a “racist asshole”. If [del]Askeptic[/del] [Lord Ashtar] had said “uppity black bitch” you would have a point. And, frankly, the argument could be made that if you read that and thought he used it because she is black makes you racist as you are the one who assumed it was because of her race.
Oh, and the article said she was entering a house office building so this, “They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place” does not apply unless she was on the way back from a session since I dont think house sessions are held in any of the house office buildings.
I think even the literalist would accept that this phrase: “during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses” means while they are in D.C. attending the session of Congress. The question would be whether Ms. McKinney caused a breach of the peace.
Are you saying this thread is a vast, right wing conspiracy? How about the simpler explanation that Ms. McKinney did something stoooopid, and one of our more conservative posters called her on it? Why we can’t just simply agree that the Congresswoman was in the worng and leave it at that? I find the idea that **Shodan **was coaxing out the whackier element of the right wingers on this board to be just a bunch of far fetched nonsense.
Wow. Comparing McKinney’s actions with the Patches Kennedy’s previous unprovoked assault on a black female TSA employee (hate crime, anyone?) really touches a nerve with you libs, huh?
Are those on the right willing to distance themselves from their extremist elements like Boortz, who called McKinney a “ghetto slut”? Shodan, I hope you’ll do the right thing and call on your party to not be associated with this sort of thing.
