I didn’t mention that this past week the practice grandkids from Cottonfield County, Schnickelfritz and MuscleMan, have been in DC doing the tourist thing. We saw them last Sunday on their way up, and once again today when they were headed home. Lotsa hugs goin’ on both times.
Mowed the yahd today, and bought ~50 lbs of maters for CanFest 2015 tomorrow. Will be making stewed maters, mater sauce, and salsa. Next weekend is PickleFest, with dill pickles, bread ‘n’ butter, pickled green beans, and some kind of mixture VunderWife wants me to make. Mebbe I can sneak in some dilled fart blossoms just for **Swampy’s **birthday, too.

I watched the smooth dance competition. I wish they would do a plain old foxtrot or tango sometimes. All that fancy stuff is nice, but so are the basics.

I had a very nice afternoon with Fluffy and Aunt Mom. We had intended to go to a seafood place that’s right on the water, but by the time we got there, there was an hour wait for a table. So I looked on the map to see what was nearby, and found a steakhouse a couple of towns over. So very glad we found it. The food was orgasmic. Fluffy said if this was her last meal, she’d die happy. I had a crabmeat cocktail and a filet mignon Wellington. We shared some duck fat fried French fries, and whipped sweet potato. I should have taken pictures of the food, the presentation was just as awesome as the flavor. I will be dreaming about that meal for days.
Good morning!! Not as cool as the last couple, but still cool enough that we had the windows open, so there’s that.
In case any of you are considering a new TV, avoid VIZIO like the plague. We’ve got one in the bedroom, and it’s a piece of crap! As soon as I have a few $$ to waste, I’m replacing it with a decent unit. Besides taking forever to turn on or to program itself, it doesn’t seem to like at least 3 of the channels pumped out by our cable company - naturally 3 that I’d like to watch while trying to fall asleep. So there ya go - beware of Vizio!
My big project for today is making peach jam. The only other messy thing I have to do is transfer some of yesterday’s leftover lasagna into a proper container for freezing and finding space in the freezer. **FCD **will be repainting his saddle bags and a few other items that need to be finished. With luck, he’ll be riding again before autumn… He’s been working his butt off trying to finish that bike. And now he’s talking about buying another one, stripping it down to its frame, and rebuilding it customized. But it’ll take him a year to save enough for the project (we agreed he wouldn’t start till he had all the funds in hand.) So maybe he’ll just relax and enjoy his bike for a while.
We’re promised some rain tonight and tomorrow - here’s hoping!!
