Black Friday and other crazy consumerism in the MMP

had a dinner that was worth eating finally…the much long delayed poke roast with carrots and NOT’s
and as for swampy’s purloined spuds …they’ll split those up amongst the t-day baskets ….

For Flytrap

I avoid Black Friday shopping like the plague, and it annoys me that stores are opening on Thanksgiving afternoon. Traditionally, I work at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair on Black Friday, assuming I’m able to finagle the day off from my real job.

Well, I woke at 2. I’m still up. This bed is murder on my back. I miss my memory foam!!!

Nope, nothing new, no notifications that anything had updated or anything that would usually explain a big drop. Also, when I checked the battery use stats, where it breaks down what’s used what power, all the listed things only totalled 17%…

Anyway, I should up and away, we have a student society allotment meeting (we have a society allotment, all the cool kids have one) and though it’s just above freezing, I should be there. I said I’d bring some spare plants from my allotment, so I need to dig 'em up on the way.

Happy Toosday!

I woke up at 4, damn bladder. After I couldn’t get back to sleep, I got up at 4:30.
I put the last load of clothes in the dryer, they are now done so I can fold them and put them away. The dishwasher is running.

Supposed to be in the 50s today, so I hope to get a little yard irk in.

I have to decide what meat to take out for dinner. Well, no decision needed as there is only ground beef in the freezer. I have to decide what to make for dinner.
I think I will make cheese crisps today. I’ve never made them before but they are expensive to buy. I think I’ll make some deviled eggs too. They don’t last long around here.

Then again, once the sleepies hit me in a few hours I may do nothing but take a nap.

Toosday is Ripple toenail clipping/ear cleaning day. We did his nails last night, so only the ears to do. He wasn’t too happy about the trimming but he lays there and lets us do it. It’s the 20th, so it’s heartworm/flea pill day.

well its 3 am and im not tired yet I hope its not an downside of my sleep schedule I don’t need to be up for days at this time of year…….

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and rainyish with a predicted high of 73 with rain this mornin’ then a mostly cloudy afternoon. Today I shall accomplish laundry and I have a follow-up appointment with the tooth doc this afternoon at two. It would be funny if the appointment was at two-thirty cause that’s the best time to go to the dentist. Sup shall be my world famous Eyetalian chikin and whatever side matter I decide upon. Maybe flytrap’s favorite, succotash.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Fell back to sleep a tad after 3 and mostly slept till 6 when Higgs started fussing. So I’m up, she’s been tended to, and FIL is up making his breakfast. Daughter et al. get here tonight. We need to move our crap to the smaller guest bedroom - they need the larger one to accommodate Roxy’s criblet. I’ll strip the bed so they start with clean sheets.

Other than that, no plans for the day. We’ll just see how things develop.

Happy Tuesday!

All y’all rising early because of dogs and bladders and bad beds… I’m up early to irk. I get up stupid early, get to work… and I could have waited another hour. The tech who’s going to do the procedure isn’t coming in until 7.

At least I’m done at 3:30 and then I’m off until next week…

Phone wigged out last night; won’t boot. Really hope I can salvage it…w/o a FDR. I don’t have time to rebuild a phone today (& there would be some lost photos. @#$%^ for not fully backing it up when I had it plugged in the other day but I was too tired.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Closing shift tonight. Oddly enough I don’t have to get up early till Friday.

Morning all. 45F outside and not getting much warmer, but at least it’s clear and N.O.S. outside.

Need to finish getting all the soccer stuff out of the car for my travels to brothers’ and do the packing today, but otherwise not much on the schedule. Got about 1/2 tank of gas so I’ll mosey up the road a bit tomorrow and fill up somewhere in Tennessee.

Spidey, how is the spirit of Franklin Delano Roosevelt going to help with your phone?

Juliet, used to get up at 5:15am to make the 6:30am workday (did that for 20+ years), but trust me, sleeping till 7:30am is a skill you can relearn…

Sari, ever notice we take better care of our pets than we do of ourselves?

All y’all take care now.

Eleanor Roosevelt could talk anyone into anything. Urging a cell phone to repair itself is nothing for her.

I spoil my babies MetalMouse, kind of sad when you think that many of our pets have it better than a good bit of the human population.

I made some cheese chips today. They tasted good but were chewy in the middle, I think next time lower the temp and bake them longer. I used a grated Mexican blend and added oregano to some, and garlic and paprika to the others.
I also discovered that grated parmesan doesn’t work, it doesn’t melt, it burns.

I think my cat is spoiled. She has special food from the vet, two different kinds of treats, and quite a few toys. But she still thinks she has it hard when she has to wait to be fed.

The town of Norvelt Pennsylvania was named for her after she stopped by and passed out metal egg baskets. I actually know a couple families who still have theirs. On that bit of trivia we now return to our regularly scheduled chatter:
Up and adulting. Cold with some flurries.

Our hummers,or at least one of them, is/are upset with me for letting the feeder go empty. She came right up to me this morning and hovered, then darted to the empty feeder, then backed off, then darted to the feeder again, then backed off and hovered a foot from my head. I was sure I heard her say, “fill the feeder jerkface, a bird’s gotta eat ya know!” BTW, I’ve been reading up on them and some species of hummers don’t migrate at all. So now I’ve gotta feed them, like cats or in-laws, iffen ya feeds 'em they keep showing up. :dubious:

Wifey got one of these egg cookersthe other day, and I’ve been enjoying one of my favorite things lately, egg salad sammiches. Yes, I know how to work a saucepan on the stove, but a lot of times I forget to set the timer, or don’t hear it go off, or something. This thing is somewhat slower, but pretty much fool-proof. I likes it.

Welp. Lunch!

I’ve been thinking about an egg cooker Bumba.
We eat a lot of eggs around here. I think it would be very convenient, but then it is something else that needs a home somewhere in the cabinet. It would help if I were taller, I can only reach the bottom two shelves and it is a strain to reach something in the back.

I took a nap, which makes me mad, because I have stuff to do and need to get it done.

I didn’t get much done outside because it was a bit nippy. I figure if it’s only 10 minutes a day it still adds up over time.

I’m off to acquire books for daughter, appetizers for family Thanksgiving, and some groceries for us. Also, lunch. I’m hungry. Miss Akiko will have to go into her box (AKA crate). She does not appreciate her crate if she does not know I am in range. She wails. :frowning:
