Let me be the first to say
HAPPY
TURKEY
DAY!!!
Happy day to those who aren’t turkeys!
Stay safe those travelling. That reminds me, I need to away early to put fuel in the car before skool- I forgot last night.
its drizzling here because the adorable weather girl said it might rain in my area but don’t hold your breath" on Monday about today
but may your food be good and edible your relatives not be obnoxious and your travels quick and safe and your sports teams win if you watch
It’s 16 degrees F out,** AND DROPPING**. I’m thankful that Turkey is NOT on the menu here today, I have everything I need, and the only shopping I’m doing tomorrow is picking up my prescriptions.
Greetings from Ocala, where it’s 47° and the natives are probably digging out their snow suits…
I’ve been up about an hour. I started the turkey - it does an hour at 400°, then 5 hours at 200°. I’ll probably uncover it for the last hour to crispy up the skin. And I found the giblets and the neck that I couldn’t find yesterday. I’m boiling the neck for broth for gravy, and I’ll let MIL do what she wants to do with the guts. For everything else, I’ve got a schedule, and if I worked it out right, it will all be ready for dinner at 2.
SIL is bringing desserts, so she won’t need the oven. Daughter and I worked out who will do what and when. Here’s hoping for a lower-stress meal than some from the past. And here’s hoping ultra-right-wing BIL keeps his political BS to himself.
Breakfast was a slice of leftover pizza and some diet Coke - yum! I can chill for a couple of hours till I have to start the sweet N.O.T.s - 3 will be baked, and the rest will be cooked and mashed for the casserole thingy with marshmallows (ick - too sweet!!) Yesterday, I scraped and sliced the carrots - they’ll just need to be glazed. Daughter and I also need to prep the fresh green beans, the baby bello 'shrooms, and the onion, and she needs to make some bacon for that dish. MIL’s dressing will go in the oven as soon as the bird comes out, and the last things in will be the casserole and the yeast rolls.
I’m exhausted already!!
So Happy Turkey Day to my fellow citizens, and Happy Thursday to the rest of the world!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN Actually been up for a while as, like MOOOOOOM I put Mr. Turkey on to bake at five a.m. and been futzin’ around since then. ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 63 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Nice weather for Turkey Day I reckon. Hope all who have been travelin’ are where they need to be all safe and sound.
I shall seek more caffeine and feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification and the donnin’ of clothin’ appropriate to receive guests must commence. Rah.
GOBBLE! GOBBLE! GOBBLE! to all my Amurrkin friends.
The rest of you, Happy Thursday!
15° and still dropping.
Somebody needs to tell Al Gore to turn his pool up.
May the turkey be on your table, not sitting at it. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Happy Thorsday!

Safe Travels and Happy Eats!
It’s 25 degrees outside, warmer than expected.
The cat came in and is napping. Ripple is bringing me yesterday’s mail. One piece at a time, and since it was junk mail day that is a lot of pieces to bring.
I don’t have my day planned out yet. I need to confirm dinner time and I’ll leave about three hours before that. I wasn’t asked to bring anything, and probably won’t be. My niece and her husband work well together for these kinds of things.
I’ll make a few phones calls at a reasonable time and see what time I have to leave.
I am now presentable (well, as presentable as I ever get) to receive company. Stuff is cookin’ away. Folks should be arriving around elevenish for pre-feast activities. Turkey Day is officially underway at da cave!
Sari looks like Ripple has a good system goin’ there. Bring mommy a piece of mail, get treat. Bring another piece of mail, get treat. Bring another piece of mail, get treat, and so on and so on. This could last all day!
Penny will pickup something from the floor at the command, “Gimme!”
She soon learned that she will get a cookie if she picks something up from the floor and brings it to me of her own accord.
However, she has also learned that paper can be torn into two pieces and she will receive two cookies.
Dinner is going to be at 6, which probably means closer to 6:30.
So I don’t have to leave until 3-4 ish.
That part is nice, to not have to rush out of here.
However, I won’t get home until probably 10 or 11.
Swampy, Ripple knows how to play the game. He will bring the mail and stand just out of reach until I show him the treat. Then he will drop the mail for a treat, but if I don’t get up and grab the mail, he will pick it up again, and bring it to me for another treat.
Junk mail day he gets a lot of treats.
I’m leaving my son a list of things to do. I doubt any will get done.
Don’t you hate it when our dogs are smarter than we are?
If they weren’t so cute
And speaking od dropping here is the entire episode for you holiday pleasure.
and for those rushed for time
Well, other than that ------ killing time until we leave for the buffet. I am wearing my one Santa suit to work (well if the elves have to work the Fat Guy can show up and give some love) and we’re finding ways of dealing. Basically most of us are just ignoring TPTB du jour and getting things done. Other than that cold and crisp and not that bad of a day. Have a terrific time out there all yinz guys.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift tonight. Watching the Macy’s Parade for the fist time in 20 years. Elf on The Shelf looks like he’s taking a dump on the street:dubious:
Happy Thanksgiving!
to the US Mumpers.
Happy Thursday to the rest of you lot.
Ruble ,turkeys can fly. Juyst got to get the Pumpkin Chunkin’ people involved.
Sari, Gordie has learned to say “out” when he needs to go.
Howdy all and Happy Thanksgiving! Our big feast is underway. We shall eat around two and then probably nap like usual. I did not sleep well or hardly any last night so I envision an early bedtime as I have to irk tomorrow.
Our feast menu is: Turkey, dressing, giblets gravy, candied sweet taters, creamed corn, deviled eggs, greens and cranberry sauce. I think that is all except carrot cake and iced tea. I have not and will not eat anything today so I can stuff in a few hours.
The Impossible Coconut Cream Pie has been into and out of the oven. It’s beautiful.
I’m usually better prepared but we ran out of margarine/butter this morning so the corn casserole we were also requested to bring won’t get cooked until I go to the store and get some more.
The weather apocalypse that was predicted never showed so we will drive down to the faraway kids house to eat. Dinner is supposed to be at 2:00, which means oldest granddaughter will appear in a cloud of chaos at 3:00 and we will eat at 3:30 or thereabouts. That means that the poor pups will be on their own in the house for 6 or 7 hours. sigh
Well, it’s our own fault for moving up here. I didn’t really need that job, and it almost killed me.
Have a happy turkey, y’all.
Feast was had and was good. Now nap time.
