It was better than I expected. I actually hated King of the Hill for a pretty long time before I loved it. I disagree with those that suggest the dad is another bafoon. He is a self made man and works very hard to keep his resteraunt going.
I missed that one, but I laughed at the sign:
Eat me? Eat me!
I saw this while visiting friends last night, along with American Dad.
IMO, American Dad hasn’t gotten any better. Actually, IMO, Seth McFarlane hasn’t gotten any better. He’s almost as unfunny as Judd Apatow. He’s a very talented voice-actor, but his comedy sucks eggs.
Bob’s Burgers was terrible. A couple of funny bits, but nothing that was laugh-out-loud funny. As others have said, the animation was terrible, the art was crappy, the voice-acting sucked, and overall it was just a crappy experience to sit through this for 30 minutes. It won’t bother me that I don’t have a TV to watch this on.
I enjoyed it. Had a bunch of big laughs and I liked the design of the characters. I’m looking forward to seeing where they go with it.
I thought it was miles ahead of “the Cleveland Show,” but so is static on the TV screen
It was OK. I liked it, I think it could go either way, bad or good. I’ll tune into again to see
But what’s with the mustaches? Mustaches have been out for decades. I realize it’s hard to draw a goatee but then again
I keep thinking about the whole aesthetic style of the show and what they were going for, and I think this is one of those situations where the phrase “it insists upon itself” is apt.
Ducks and runs
With Free Candy!
I found it a little uneven, but the overall impression was good.
I liked the premiere much better than I did King of the Hill’s, and once King of the Hill had time to develop it turned into something pretty good. I will give Bob’s Burgers a shot for sure; I think it has a lot of potential.
I thought it was pretty funny though I hated the animation style. I’ll watch the next episode.
It led with a fart joke.
The animation is self sucks.
We already have a South Park.
Let it fade away.
Please don’t compare South Park to this garbage. Thanks.
Meh. This show had it’s moments but the animation style is horrible. If you are going to use monotone “real voice” type actors, then you need an interesting, emotive art style to convey the rest to the audience. take some notes from AS’s lineup, regular show or even King of the Hill. This was well written but painful to watch. Everyone looks like some sort of bizarre chinless lightbulb.
Speaking of the voices, I found it painfully obvious that the wife was being voiced by a man and it bugged me.
I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would.
Actually, I did laugh a couple of times, like when the father was talking to the restaurant with the family watching.
It definitely is a rip-off of Family Guy though, who many will say is a rip-off of The Simpsons. I don’t agree with that assessment, and besides it’s too old a point to matter now. But as has been mentioned, it would be nice to have a cartoon show about something other than a wacky family.
Other than having a wacky family, I didn’t find it particularly reminiscent of “Family Guy”: there were no talking animals/babies, not a lot of pop culture references, and no cutaways that I remember. “The Simpsons” is more similar, IMO.
It’s a sitcom. Sitcoms are very often about wacky families, and have been since the Honeymooners and I Love Lucy. At least it’s not another fat guy/hot wife show. It didn’t seem at all like Family Guy to me, honestly. Aside from being about a family, what did you see as being ripped off?
Not even remotely.
A good replacement for a show that literally seemed like it came from the exact same initial pitch as Family Guy, but went through two rounds of focus grouping with a different selection before making it to air.
There’ve been plenty of sitcoms about a wacky workplace.
Yep, which Bob also seems to be about.
I THOUGHT it has a *Home Movies *vibe, but I thought it was just H. Jon “Coach” Benjamin giving me that vibe.
I liked it, in the way I USED to like Adult Swim. AS went from Home Movies, Space Ghost, Mission Hill, etc to those horrid live-action things, and crap that seemed to exist simply to throw non-sequitors at you. Sealab 20-whatever was about my limit for that, and it frequently pushed said limit.
