If you want to see how the absolute scum of the earth are taking this, go ahead and check out the Facebook group “Vietnam Veterans for Trump”. One post says the only bombs involving Robert DeNiro were his last three movies. Another shows Maxine Waters telling Obama “I got my bomb, did you get yours yet?” with Obama answering “Yes, do you think people are going to fall for this shit?” Another post states that Obama and Clinton couldn’t have received their bombs because all of their mail goes through a Secret Service facility before being sent to them, implying that this whole thing was a hoax.
Never underestimate the lengths that right wingers will go to to place the blame for any story at the feet of Democrats or to declare that the whole thing is fake news. I don’t see a lot of difference between this demented Facebook group and the Hitler Youth.
To be fair, that’s sort of funny.
We’ll see how funny it is when the federal government cuts more of their veterans benefits to pay for the job creators’ tax cuts.

Tell you what: why don’t you list all the violent rhetoric from the Pit, and we’ll compare it to the violent rhetoric from Trump and see which is worse and more frequent.

Maybe I’m odd this way, but I hold the President of the United States to higher standards than people shooting shit on an obscure message board. And whole it might be a really strange position to take, I also think - just bear with me here - that in terms of assessing relative levels of vitriol, the appropriate comparisons for the President might not be anonymous people on a message board but might be, you know, prominent Democratic politicians and leaders.
And, now, while you might think I’m crazy, I also think that what the President of the United States says might be just a tiny bit more influential that what people on an obscure message board say.
