Checking in. Good to “see” old “friends”.
Great job, @TubaDiva!
Checking in. Good to “see” old “friends”.
Great job, @TubaDiva!
Good morning, all.
Yes, yes!
Teleportation works and there are no identity issues. I’m absolutely the same person, every little atom of me, and I feel great.
Okay, I’m one of the few people who feel good on Mondays by default.
(I would post the adequate emoji now, but apparently they don’t work anymore.)
Morning, friends.
Emojis still work for me, at least in the reply box. I’m not seeing any in the thread.
← does that show up?
Waiting for a grocery order right now. Although, given that I type slowly, it will almost certainly have arrived by the time I finish this. Stock was super weird and picked-over this week. Lots of things where they were out of stock of nearly every brand of every type- snacks/chips, frozen meals… not sure what’s up with that.
A lot on the agenda today. For now, though… just going to wait for my groceries.
waves this is new and strange… Irking from home, which is also strange, but no longer new. I will try to mump more and lurk less It Looks like NONE of the smileys work, you can’t even emioticon them : (
I kinda like the bigger font, but I don’t like all the distracting stuff I’ll get over it. I ate half a jar of honey roasted peanuts yesterday and tomday my stomach is paying the price. It’s cloudy, rainy, and hoomid. My least favorite weather.
ok, now they are working, and I feel stoopit.
Re: The new Board. In the immortal words of Mr. Horse, 'No, sir, I don’t like it.’
I have a couple of friends I met back in the '80s. We haven’t seen each other in at least five years, even though they live in Seattle. She’s a nurse and he was a caregiver (he’s a hearing aid person now), and I only go to Seattle twice a week, so meeting up was problematic. Anyway, his (J’s) birthday was yesterday. He and C came up to Bellingham to spend the day. We invited them to the house, but they’re socially distancing. Instead, Mrs. L.A. and I took the MG to meet them at a brewery in Bellingham. We went early so we could have a bite. We had a sampler plate of a dozen wings and four small glasses of ‘paired’ beers. We didn’t actually pair the beer samplers with the wings, as we had other beers. I also had a Cobb salad. My chosen beer was 9% ABV. I had three of them. (Plus some of the samplers.)
Our friends showed up, I gave J a card, and I bought their drinks. It was much fun catching up. C mentioned her niece had a child (or children) and I was like, ‘What? She’s only twelve!’ Well, she was 20 years ago! Everyone had a great time, and the visit was much too short. Mrs. L.A. liked the brew pub, and I may be able to get her out of the house now occasionally.
Nearing the brew pub, we met another chrome-bumper MGB coming from the other direction. We waved at each other.
Hey, come to think of it, this is Monday morning! This thread arrived right on time.
Love the thread name!
Oh… J had COVID-19 in March. He said the symptoms were no worse than a regular flu.
I’m definitely figuring all of this out. If I can reduce the spacing and the amount of white, I will be happy.
Nona I’m sorry about your losses last week. It sounds awful. I hope this week is easier.
It’s nice to see so many familiar faces (so to speak)!
The Father’s Day meal went well last night. I need the let the restaurant know that it was first rate.
I’m on Day #2 of the horridest headache. I hope it eases up.
Happy Moanday everyone.
(Smilies test
)
Sunny, hope the headache goes away.
flyboy, sounds like a good time was had by all…don’t wait 20 years to renew acquaintances again.
Quite a few new and ‘old new’ folks. Hope all y’all stick around for a bit.
Waiting for the rain to arrive, have got my Jersey Mike’s sammich and some bread from the Publix, so all’s good here.
Take care now.
It wasn’t 20 years. Just (at least) that long since I’d seen the niece.
Whew! Finally have a chance to sit.
I installed a new attic fan (GO ME!!!) and it was a major pain in the patoot. The old fan was heavy and a challenge to uninstall. The new one was lighter weight but it had a protruding lip which required me to make some spacer blocks. I think I went up and down the ladder half a dozen times at least.
And, of course, it was freekin’ hot up there, mostly because no air was moving, and the sun was climbing as I worked. Thankfully, when I climbed down and threw the switch, it worked! YAY!! I set its thermostat to 80° - with luck, it’ll keep the house from getting too hot.
Once I got all the tools put away, I took Roxy outside to play on her swings and in the sandbox. When I brought her in for lunch, the remote was nowhere to be found. SIL and I tore the living room apart looking for it, then FCD joined the hunt. Still can’t find it. Dammit. We may have to buy a universal if the stupid thing doesn’t show up.
For now, tho, chillage. Roxy is napping and I’m rehydrating. Just another day in paradise!
Ceiling fan? This Summer I have to build a new roof for the shed. (8x8 shed, peaked roof about a foot wider all around.) The plan is to nail crosspieces on the front fascia. I’ll take that off and use it as a template for the new ones. Then I’ll take it apart and use one length for the rafters. I’ll use a piece of scrap 2x4 to cut them to the correct lengths to account for the eaves and the ridge beam. A 2x4 below the cutout for the ridge beam is all I need to make the trusses. After demolishing the old roof, I’ll put up the trusses. Then I’ll have to cut the plywood and put that up. I’m not going to use shingles. I’ll use asphalt sheeting because it should be easier. That’s what the people who built the shed used, and it held up for 40 years.
Have you checked the sand box?
Gable fan. Thankfully, the new one had a plastic frame, so it was lots lighter than the old one. I needed my daughter’s help to hold it so I could get the first screw in place. After than, easy peasy.
Just found the remote. It was in the box from the fan. FCD put it out in the garage with the recycling. I don’t know what possessed me to look in that box, except that Roxy had been playing with it earlier in the day.
Kids, sheesh…
Well, I may have gotten my password changed, but have no idea how I did it, if I actually did. I may have been on the preferences menu, but damn if I can find a way to get to it again. I suppose I’ll have to go out and come in again, but I have a metric buttload of chores to do today, so who knows when that will happen.
So far I’m not impressed. If I can find this fabled ‘preferences’ menu maybe I’ll find a theme I like. <— I’ve got lots of emojis though. They just don’t come through to my actual post.
The edit function works though.
They work on the Discourse Classic theme.
