Apparent mass shooting at the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival, held near San Jose. The story is developing. The most recent reports I saw said 11 people were either injured or killed.
Oh man, I used to go to this every year. The only thing that kept me away these last few years is this awful heat. Such a fun event.

What is the Gilroy Garlic festival and where is it located?
There is apparently an active shooting situation in Gilroy, CA, at the city’s annual garlic festival. There isn’t much information, but reports indicate multiple victims. Police and EMT personnel from San Jose have joined the response. ATF from San Francisco is on the way as well.
Another witness, Julissa Contreras, told the NBC TV station that she saw a white man in his early to mid-30s firing a rifle that was “able to shoot three to four shots a second.”
“It was just rapid firing,” she said. “I could see him shooting in just every direction. He wasn’t aiming at anyone specifically. It was just left to right, right to left…. He definitely was prepared for what he was doing.”

Dammit, is nothing sacred? It’s a fucking FOOD FESTIVAL, who could have a hardon about garlic? As goes California, so goes the nation (eventually) and I’d fucking LOVE to see them just say screwit and ban any firearm more powerful than an Airsoft gun. Fucking ammosexuals shooting up food festivals, that’s just immoral.
Gilroy is south of San Jose, CA. It’s a bedroom community for San Jose, with a large farming community as well.
SF Chronicle reports at least one death and at least four hospitalized. On Twitter, reporters are saying emergency crews are still arriving.
Such a cute, quiet little town. Passed through there dozens of times in my travels.
I went to the GGF back in 1997; it was a fun day.

The AP is now reporting at least 7 hospitalized: 5 at Santa Clara Valley Med Center and 2 at Stanford MC.
Local news is reporting 3 dead and 12 shot.
ETA: Gunman is still at large. Victims are at least 4 locations.
