Did you read the whole article?
Also, lots of white power types hate “normie” white people.
And self-hating racists exist.
I loved Gilroy when I was living in that area–I can’t imagine a more fairy tale town.
Jesus, under one minute and this guy racked up a good number of hits. Yay those cops. I do enjoy my guns, was at the range just yesterday in fact. But I wouldn’t shed one tear if AR-15 and AK ammo were banned and possession of a single live round for them carried a mandatory minimum prison sentence. Wouldn’t solve anything like the vast majority of firearms deaths in the USA, but it would complicate the lives of domestic terrorists (who don’t strike me as sophisticated enough to mold & load their own ammo). And it’s the terrorism aspect of events like this that really get me.
Yes, and it seems like an awfully thin reed to hang a “white supremacist” motive on.
OK.
Well, thank god you’re on the case to make sure no white supremacists are unfairly maligned. Tough work, but somebody’s gotta do it.
I for one am glad the shooter is dead.
I image the police are ready to respond at any community event these days. My town had its sidewalk sale this weekend, and there was a heavy police presence. They were even at the free clothing give away at one of the local churches, just in case someone wanted to take out some poor people.
Seeing as “Iranian” and “Aryan” have a shared etymology, I can see how your typical deluded racist who happens to be Iranian could consider himself “white” in the European sense. As far as tortured logic goes, I’ve seen worse.
My town, a bit north of Gilroy, has a street festival this weekend, not as big as the Gilroy Garlic Festival but still pretty sizeable, with many of the same vendors. It will be interesting to see what they do, since access is unrestricted, unlike in Gilroy.
There has always been a big police presence, and never any trouble I have seen. I suspect there will be more.
You mean, 1 out of 3 posts.
Are you intentionally mischaracterizing things to protect the good name of white supremacists everywhere? Why are you trying so hard to protect the good name of white supremacists? Are you a white supremacist?
Aw, that’s why. I was surprised when they said the population of Gilroy was 50K. I hadn’t actually been **to **Gilroy in decades, and I remembered it as much smaller than that. Sad.

While the white supremacist angle of this is a legitimate topic, it is starting to completely swamp this thread. We don’t want to lose the actual topic of this thread, which is a breaking news event. Please take the white supremacist discussion elsewhere (GD might be a good choice, given the amount of argument/debate here).
If you start a new thread on this topic, feel free to link to it here, and feel free to link back to this thread in the new one.
Since this is a breaking news thread, if any more news comes out in the news about the white supremacist angle of this you are free to post it here. Let’s just not bury the original breaking news thread while doing so, please.
There’s this:
“Read Might is Right by Ragnar Redbeard,” Legan posted on his Instagram page. He then used a slur against mixed-race people and complained about “hordes” of them “overcrowding” towns.
Redbeard, which was a pseudonym, argued that only strength and violence determined what is morally right. The work, which is filled with misogynistic and anti-Semitic rhetoric, is a staple among neo-Nazis and white supremacists on extremist sites."
People have been moving there from the heart of Silicon Valley because houses are cheaper there. 101 North in the morning and south in the evening are nightmares.
I’ve never gone to the GGF because of the traffic and because our fair is right after.
I have to go by people’s memories and blurred cam shots of the area. It looks like it was a sweet but mid-sized county fair. I can almost imagine that there was a booth for hot sauces, a booth for kettle corn, a booth for steak on a stick, a booth to sell you hot tubs, and maybe a booth to get cheese steaks and corn dogs and boxes of popcorn.
It looks like it would have been a very nice place to visit…
The NBC article says this:
I’ve highlighted the bit you cut out, which ought to be relevant to anyone honestly trying to determine if he was a white supremacist or if his attack was motivated by white supremacist beliefs.
Soooo “is filled with misogynistic and anti-Semitic rhetoric, is a staple among neo-Nazis and white supremacists on extremist sites.” To be just ignored then?
I saw post from several people on other boards who said they lived in the region and had considered going, but decided not to because of the heat.
Any word on the possible second shooter?
In other words he used standard white supremacist rhetoric. Who love ranting about whites they consider “race traitors” for not being as racist as them.
