Britany at the VMA's......

She said she calls them Boo Boo as a nickname, but my mom used to call me that as a kid, too. Once my mother called me that in public and some little old bitty started screeching at her that we are all God’s creations and NO CHILD is a mistake. My mom then explained that she’s calling me Boo Boo, like Boo Boo the Bear.

I’m not saying that’s necessarily what Britney is doing, but sometimes there is a bit more of an explanation than ZOMG SHE’S A BAD PARENT.

Is it just me, or was anyone else fooled by the first 20 seconds of the performance?

Call me crazy. Call me the queen of denial…but it seemed to me that at first, when she was doing that little bluesy number, she was positively radiant. I don’t dole that word out lightly, either. Rarely does women who fit Britney’s description make me think ‘radiance’…but she did. The look she gave that audience before the beat dropped. The the way she regarded the camera…I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I was disapointed as the camera cut away on my favorite part of the song, “It’s Britney, bitch”…

Then…it all fell apart. It was like it was a whole different night…the focus in her eyes at the beggining was replaced with a glazed over gaze.

I felt my heart break a little…cause although I am not a huge fan of pop music, I really liked Britney’s performances. And I think it is all over for her. Sad.

Hijack–Sarah Silverman at one point mentions calling Kanye West “Cee-Lo.” Is this supposed to be funny because she’s confusing two black artists–as in they all look similar? (I googled Cee-Lo…now I’m aware of who he is, but I wasn’t sure what the joke was last night.)

Here’s a better one. If the link doesn’t work, I found it here:

The youtube link of her at the VMA’s has been taken off youtube. Anyone have another link?

Here’s one:

Funny thing about that song: No matter how many times I hear it, it refuses to get stuck in my head. I’ve heard better in direct-to-video movies.

Wow. It really is like watching a drunken college girl at a club – stumbling around, pushing her hair back and lip syncing to half of the words. Not fat by any stretch of the post-pubescent imagination, but she was not rocking that body.

Surely more than one person is responsible, and firing is not enough punishment. You get the names and I’ll find a wall and rifles.

Oh, hell no.

I didn’t think it was possible that something could match BS’s bit in badness.

I was wrong.

The thing is, I don’t see how Spears has any room to be offended by comments about her kids or herself as a mother. She drove with one kid on her lap – no restraints or anything, just pushing the steering wheel past his head. Disaster waiting to happen. Another time, I think it was the same kid, he fell out of his high chair and she didn’t take him to the ER. And recently, I saw a photo of her walking with them. She was holding a lit cigarette, with her arm dangling so that the cherry was pointed at one kid’s head. If he’d changed course or stumbled, or she forgot he was there, he’d have gotten it right in the face. And of course both kids were getting her secondhand smoke.

And this is just the stuff the public knows about. As such, I don’t think a comedian, whose whole schtick is being snippy and judgemental, is obligated to tread lightly around the subject of Brit’s parenting. Plus which, if she really was offended, she would have been free to storm up to Silverman afterwards and challenge her. Shoot, there were two other celeb fights that night! I think she’s way past caring what anyone says or thinks.

Perfect

Antidote? (Link is to a bellydancer who puts Shakira to shame, hands down.)

That performance was simply terrible.
For someone who earns a rather nice living as a singer/dancer, there is no excuse. People have gone on stage shortly after hearing someone they loved had died, people have performed brilliantly before crowds booing them…it doesn’t matter if Silverman called her every name in the book and threw dogshit in her face before the show, Britney showed a total lack of stage professionalism and was obviously woefully unprepared.
My best guess is that she just assumed she could pull it off with a minimum of rehearsals and a cast of dancers to hide behind while she botched the lip sync of her own song. I have no sympathy whatsoever.
It is not like she didn’t have time to practice between shifts at IHOP. She hasn’t done a damn thing in ages - a little prep before a show like this should have been a priority.

I see on a bitchy celeb site I check out every now and then that she also had another vagina photo op after the show. The girl’s just all class.

I’m not buying her excuses either. If that performance was a last minute thing, why were her backup dancers moves sharp and energetic? Even the pole dancers in the audience were better than she was, which you could tell from many of the audience shots, as they were more focused on the pole dancers than on Britney.

Slight hijack: I kept hearing how Chris Brown’s performance was the best of the night, but when I watched it last night (fully expecting actual sound to come out of his mouth), I kept thinking that he’s a great dancer and performer, but his lip synching wasn’t even as good as Britney’s. Can’t ANYONE sing and dance at the same time these days? Damn, I sound old.

Even Craig Ferguson, who refused to make jokes about her after she shaved her head, made comments about her performance during his monologue last night. He’d been on vacation for two weeks and last night was his first night back and he admitted his abs were a little flabby, he was a little out of it, and he’d probably lip-synch the whole show.

He also questioned why no one around her told her take another 2 weeks to rehearse or to take some Britney time.

My god. I couldn’t even watch the whole clip, that was terrible. Not terrible, but words fail.
