No rain today or for the next several days. I hardly know what to do with myself! Highs in the upper 50s, low 60’s all week.
Irking from home today. Blurf!

Sally emailed the IT people and various supervisors, “The security monitor is pink and the message board won’t send everything!”
Unusual color on a VGA monitor meant that one on the conductors in the cable from the camera PC had parted company with the VGA connector. A soldering iron repaired that, and upon speaking with Sally, TDTOO (Turning the Damned Thing Off and On) fixed her other problem.
I replied to all, “Repaired VGA connector, reset message board controller, user reports all is well.” so that I might prevent follow up question by bean counters. They can read the email, nod sagely, and pretend that they understand.
I wish I had faithfully reported, “User clapped hands and jumped up and down”.
Got all my housework done and bills paid. I still do them the old fashinoned way, by check. I find it keeps me more aware of just where my funds are.
Most of our snow is gone. What began (for me anyway) as a 29○ morning became a 51○ afternoon. To quote doggio, “Weather by Sybil.” Spring should be here (albeit temporarily) by Saturday.
The General’s Dindin has been ingested. YUM! OYKW wants to go eat Mexican comestibles tomorrow. He has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for steak and shrimp fajitas. Hey he’s buyin’ so I’m eatin’.
Done for the day. I’s tahred.
MWAH!
The heck does that mean?
I is Dogbreath, after all, so it doesn’t necessarily mean anything. :dubious:
Got all the way into the low-mid 30°s here today.
Found a license plate on the side of the road while partaking in a lunchtime run. - I am even better than the USPS. Their unofficial motto is “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” but on Saturday they posted this, “All mail processing, delivery and retail operations are suspended for Saturday, Jan. 23.” because of a Winter Storm. Yeah, I was also out in snow & gloom of night this weekend.
No problem; my last trip, I came home with six bottles in my luggage!
Yup, I’ll agree with this. You are dog breath; wet, smelly dog breath. :o
Watching War & Peace ---- pretty good adaption of the book. History Channel.
Indeed, it’s been brisk these past couple of days. The East Coasters in the US have nothing on us!
A friend is up North in Chiang Mai right now. Says it’s cold and wet. When I lived in Mae Hong Son back in the 1980s, a very mountainous province also in the North, it was not unusual for it to drop to freezing at night this time of year.
The sprog and I both have another snow day tomorrow. He was disappointed that I get to stay home tomorrow. He wants to put the “super” in “unsupervised”.
Home and tired. Laundry then work tomorrow.
Hey, I saved the beer I was carrying. Priorities, woman!:p;)
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and purtified, so no YAWN. ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of <snerk> 69! <snerk> for the day and sunny. Rain is supposed to start tonight into tomorrow. Rah. We’re gonna grab a McBrekkie and then OYKW shall head out to do some monitorin’ and I shall head to the southeast forty for most of the day. Envy us!
I hear rumblin’s from the bedroom which can only mean OYKW is finishin’ up his purtification ritual. Good, cause I’s hongree!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
I am at work! rah. Several parking spaces are lost in the close-in lot where my car spends the day, but I get in early enough that it doesn’t affect me. Plus I got an end spot, which is a bit wider since it includes part of an adjacent spot. My car likes wider spots. And it’s already above freezing, so maybe meltage will occur.
Today’s big question is whether we get paid for yesterday. Also, what am I going to be doing… Jason is on training for 2 weeks and Adam is supposed to be feeding me work. So we’ll see how he does at that. But he’s not here yet and I get everything done before I left on Firday, so I’m thumb-twiddling for a while. And caffeinating.
Happy Tuesday!!
The roads are slicker than whale snot, so the sprog and I are home for another day.
Today, I have to make calls to see who can install my radio. I went to a friend’s house yesterday, but he couldn’t find a place to run the power cables. So I have to pay someone to do it. So far, Best Buy is the least expensive and best reviews. I have to call them to make sure, and to see how much it’ll cost, but it’s doable.
Read the book.
B to the L to the U to the R to the F
So I had to go to a regular Dr appointment today that usually takes an hour and a half to get to in traffic, but with the blizzard I planned on 2.5 hrs.
Made it in 40 minutes. Nobody on the road.
Which is a darned good thing because the roads cannot handle a normal or even half a normal commute.
So I appreciate my fellow man being considerate by staying home, and I so wish I were among them.
On Friday as I drove in to work a brake started to grind on my work truck (2013 Explorer). Because I was due to provide live video feeds for the next two days out of that vehicle I had no choice but to push it along, and in reality it worked great in the snow because I rarely braked - it was slow, steady driving for hours on end.
But yesterday as I drove in it was apparent that I needed to place it out of service. The desk was non too pleased because of our vehicle shortage (anything not 4wd was parked and we rented 4wd SUVs to get us through). Ultimately I got in a 4wd Toyota and when a manager went to move my regular car to get ready to take it to the shop he immediately stopped and called for a tow truck instead.
So at least I have the satisfaction of not being labeled a Chicken Little, the truck was screwed up.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m going to the feed store for dog food, and doing laundry before work.
Happy Toosday.
It’s a cloudy 27 degrees here, supposed to get up to 43.
I want to move to Georgia, except then in the summer I’ll want to move back north.
I could see part of the grill of my truck yesterday. I imagine most of the truck will be visible today. The alley is still a mess so I won’t be moving out back anytime soon.
How long before the big piles of snow in the empty spot next door melt - who knows?
The dog still won’t get off the porch, but he is staying well away from the edge.
I’ll be having a bagel with cream cheese for brekkie, spaghetti for dinner.
I have heard more than a few descriptive terms in my 62 years of life, but I do believe that is the first time slick roads have been compared to whale snot…guess I can still learn new things.
Rain started just after I got to my desk and looking at the National Weather Service radar, it appears to be sticking around for awhile. Oh joy.
