Brrrrrrrrrr in the MMP

Good morning! It’s currently 46 degrees, and the forecast calls for a high of 75. I can live with that.

Awake and productive. Later I will head to work and bring a halt to all that.

Awake. Caffeinated, although there’s always room for improvement.

Child 1 off to school. Finishing breakfast, then I have to purify for irk.

Boss yesterday told me that I could work from home one day a week, but that it had to be Fridays. Nice of him to let me know that after I worked from home yesterday. I think he took a class in de-motivation. I so hate our little chats.

Off I go. Blurf!

Aack. Child 2 is sick today. Couldn’t even get out of bed. She inherited my migraines, poor thing. :frowning:

So it’s irking from home today after all. Boss will be irked in actuality, but what can I do?

Well, we’re not being paid for yesterday. So much for the alleged slush fund available when we aren’t permitted to work. Not a huge deal for me, but for the guys depending on a paycheck, it’s definitely not a good thing. As it is, I’m mostly idle - Jason has gone to training and Adam is in a meeting all morning. lalalalalalala

Sunny, does he have the poster?
Whatever Cosby’s ultimate legacy is he is/was a great comedian. With a nod towards him, I was singing my praises as I ate breakfast this morning - a slice of leftover cake (lemon not chocolate but close enough).
TVCTPMO is well at it this morning. It took 25 min to exit the expressway to…a nice empty road with just a literal handful of cars. WTF!!! What was the holdup? A work system that was down until early afternoon yesterday came up for a little bit but then went back offline with no ETA on when it will be available.
And those nice, new boots that gave me a Shillingesque sock this weekend not only gave me a bloody stump of an ankle but also rubbed a hole in my nice, new, expensive socks which I didn’t discover until pulling out of the wash.

May they not take sick leave? :dubious:

Now I’m on hold with Best Buy to see if they can squeeze me in sometime today, while I’m off. I have an appointment at a different store for Thursday, but if I can get in today, I’ll be happier.

In other news, I have an appointment next week to speak to an advocate at the Veterans of Foreign Wars about starting a disability claim with the VA for my shitty, painful joints and assorted other issues. They broke it, they can pay for it.

You can’t use sick leave unless you’re sick. They could use vacation leave if they desired. I could, too, except I’ll need to use it next week to take my sweetie to the hospital. No idea what any of them are going to do, besides bitch about it.

It’s a good thing I put off my party till April - there’s no place for anyone to park! The cleared part of our driveway is barely over one car wide - very little space to open a door. And the side of the road where I’d have directed guests to park is buried under the plowed piles. Chances of it all melting by Saturday are pretty slim. So I guess I must have been psychic! And I’m pretty sure it’ll all be melted by April.

OMG - the crybaby who always whines about how SolidWorks is so much better than Creo is now whining about the email we got last month saying they’d pay us for snow days, since they’re not paying us for yesterday. The man is 69 years old - I bet he was a *dream *as a toddler…

I am at the laundromat, it’s 51 degrees outside. I almost wanna break out the shorts, flip flops, and Hawaiian shirts.

I have the “Achivement” mug. It reminds me of my time at Dollar Tree.

I have a Grand Cherokee. I could park.

Well, doggio, if you want to come visit me this weekend so you can park your Grand Cherokee on a pile of (by then) melting snow, c’mon down! :stuck_out_tongue:

Found out Adam doesn’t have anything for me to do, so I guess I need to hit up the boss. Like that’ll do any good.

You’re a new-ish board member. Welcome!

Well, we need a Plan B.

Results are in from DH’s PET scan, and the tumor is bigger than when we started treatment. The onco will be reviewing other chemo protocols to use, or if we should jump right up to radiation and/or stem cell transplant.

It sounds so simple - extract some stem cells, grow a small army of them, administer high-dose chemo to obliterate the cancer, then put the stem cells back in to restart the bone marrow. In reality, we’d be looking at a monthlong process where DH would be in the hospital for that entire month while they do all of this. Needless to say, he doesn’t relish the idea.

As much as I’ve come to hate the people who abuse it, we’ve set up a Gofundme page. We’re not looking for a new car or a vacation. We’re looking for survival.

**gotti **- that really stinks - so sorry to hear it. I just had a thought - is there any sense in contacting your elected representative about the SS issue?

Welcome aboard the MMP Express, Calla. I hereby declare that your Mumper nickname is Lily.

My department got zoned purple today! What does this mean, you say? It means that we can now have food and drink at our desks. No more surreptiously sipping from a coffee mug in my desk drawer. :stuck_out_tongue: It also means that I don’t waste 7-8 minutes of my lunch break going through security and logging onto my own device. Small victories.

Off to work.

Welcome, Lilly!

Here’s the parking here… http://s1277.photobucket.com/user/folwawup/media/Snow%202016/20160126_101532_zpsa3b1aw2u.jpg.html?sort=3&o=25

The person who parked in front of me had to shovel out a lot of snow to get in there, as everybody was throwing their snow in that spot.
My truck is still a lump, since we don’t have to go anywhere we haven’t dug it out.

Just had a big bowl of spaghetti. What is it about spaghetti that it fills you up but you still want to eat more?

Congrats on new cat Midget.

Nicely done, miss

Spent the morning writing book reviews. Then I ventured out of the house. Got my car inspected (it passed the first time! :)), returned an item I didn’t need to the grocery store, went to the downtown used book store and bought a book that has calling out for me ever since I saw it last week, went to Olive Garden and burned up my gift card on some eggplant parmigiana.

It’s supposed to rain tonight. I hope so. I’m sick of all this slush. It’s getting to the slick and dangerous stage, at least on the sidewalks nobody bothered to clean off. That means I’m cooped up inside today with no walk. I’d do some yoga but I’m still full from lunch/dinner.
