I didn’t realize that the pilot had already been shot. I had had the impression that they were still casting. Still, assuming that Hulu accepts the pilot without rewirking they still haven’t shot the series episodes yet. I doubt it’ll come out in 2026.
Curious how they handle the “every potential is a slayer” thing introduced towards the end. On the plus side, it could involve Felicia Day as Vi.
Speaking of other Slayers, would be cool to see Faith, and she should be mentioned at least.

I’ve heard almost nothing on this until I saw it in a list of series continuing or rebooting this year.
My daughter and her friends were watching 2 episodes today including the dream episode.
My guess is that the comics continuity (which over the years has had a whole host of weird plots and resultant developments) will NOT be canon with anything from both the earlier series and this revival.
It’s been in the news for many months, long before Michelle Trachtenberg died. Google News knows I’m interested in the subject so constantly shows them to me.
I agree – the comics will likely be ignored. I had Buffy on my pull list* as a way to support my FLGS** . The Dark Horse ones were continuations – even labeled “season 8” and such. then Boom! took over and those were a reimagining. I think those stopped – it has been a while but the last time I went into the store they didn’t have anything.

* My only comic I’ve ever had on my pull list
** Friendly Local Game Store - as you can guess they sell comic books and such not to mention darts, disc golf discs, and used DVDs
Yeah, didn’t all magic end/disappear in the comics?
Boom! did a few Buffy titles in different continuities, including having a multi-Buffy crossover. I had actually wondered why they hadn’t done anything in a while. Turns out they gave up the rights.
In late 2024, Boom! let the license expire and lost the right to continue selling the Buffyverse comics they’d created. In 2025, Dynamite Entertainment announced it had acquired the license for Buffy and Angel comics.
Eliza Dushku has retired from acting after being sexually harassed on the set of Bull. Unfortunately it sounds like she has moved on from all things Buffy but if the new show is good enough maybe they can convince her. In the meantime, here’s an article with extensive details about what she has been up to:
