Bugs = Mickey, Daffy = Donald, ____ = Goofy?

If Bugs Bunny = Mickey Mouse, and Daffy Duck = Donald Duck, then who = Goofy?

I know that Bugs and Mickey are not at all similar in character, but they are both the iconic main character of their group. The ducks are similar enough to each other, both being an irratable 2nd with a hair trigger.

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy make up a trio in Disney, so who is the closest to filling that role in Warner’s Looney Toons?

I always thought it was Porky, but I’m not so sure. Taz seems more popular but doesn’t seem to fit the power trio as much.

What does everybody think?

Elmer Fudd?

Sylvester?

Pepe Le Pew?

I’m going with Porky Pig. Porky and Goofy are both generally good-natured characters who get into trouble because of misunderstandings. Granted, Porky sometimes loses his temper which Goofy does not. But that’s just a difference between Disney and Warner characters; Disney characters are one-dimensional while Warner characters are two-dimensional.

Beaky Buzzard The vulture.

“I’mmm… bringing home a baby bumble bee…”

There was Conrad the Sailor, who AFAIK was in only one cartoon but sounded “exactly” like Goofy:

I looked this cartoon on YouTube, but found only a clip; maybe the full cartoon is buried deeper in the site.

He had the same voice actor as the original Goofy: Pinto Colvig.

My vote is for Porky. Note that his character changed over the years, from a shy schoolboy, to Elmer to Daffy, to the straight man to Daffy.

I was thinking Elmer, too, especially since all three are connected in that trilogy of cartoons - “Duck! Rabbit! Duck!” “Rabbit Seasoning” and “Rabbit Fire.”

Since Mickey, Donald, and Goofy form a trio for Disney, Elmer fills the role of the third character for W.B.

Elmer sometimes fills the villain role, though, whereas I don’t think Porky does, same as Goofy, Porky get s my vote.

That’s my thought, too. I’m looking for someone who is part of the trio of pals, not someone actively trying to kill them.

Why should WB have a trio of pals at all?

I’d say they are not a 1:1 replacement, but different aspects of each character are represented in different combinations.

There’s probably fan fic for that…

I’m going with Porky . . . in spite of (or because of) his penchant for not wearing pants in public.

Interestingly, Porky is conspicuously absent in this lineup of characters:

- YouTube :frowning:

You shouldn’t underestimate Porky’s status in the pantheon. He was one of the original Warner characters and its oldest star; he predated Daffy and Bugs.

Wait - you think bugs and daffy are pals ??

ANd clearly - Pluto == Spike or Sylvester.

sorry - Goofy == Spike or Sylvester.
