Building an ark in the MMP

Howdy all. Games got cancelled due to the weather, but I did meet with my 8U girls team to thank them for their efforts and provide them medals (from the AYSO) and a few things I had. Then did a little shopping and refereed two 10U games (they had a tournament, so got special dispensation to play) from 2-4:15pm. So that pretty much occupied my afternoon.

obi, hope surgery goes well; however it gets performed.

FCM, hope the hotel is nice.

flyboy, well, at least you know the slicer is still sharp…and enjoy the new roof.

Cookie, think you did good by you and the Missus going to the Emergency; might be nothing but you’re better off not taking the chance.

Unknown, enjoy!

Shoe, nice that folks remember you fondly. And hope the job interview leads to something good.

OK, I need to forage for sustenance here shortly, had a Salad Bowl on the schedule but might call an audible for something more filling.

In the hotel waiting for pizza delivery. I’ll get caught up after I eat.

shoe those are beautiful! Is that cross-stitch?

Supper has been ingested. We’re relaxing in front of TV. To get a room on the ground floor, we had to take a double queen instead of a king. So we each get a big bed and somehow I ended up with Higgs…

The hotel has breakfast at 6 and we hope to be on the road by 7. Then home in the early afternoon. Can’t wait!!

I read all and pretty much retained nothing. But I don’t recall anything about anyone exploding or heavy things squishing anyone, so it’s all good, right? :kissing_smiling_eyes:

hippy, IME, anymore, the best shoemakers are either found in immigrant communities or tack shops. The last guy that I took my favorite loafers to was Columbian. The one before that was Korean.

I’m with you on the cold weather laundry VanGo. Once it becomes blue jean weather (as opposed to capri or khaki weather), I go from two to three loads a week.

Yay on the interviews shoe!

I hope that they get your wife’s health figured out soon cookie.

Good luck on the surgery obi.

nellie, we don’t get ToTers at my complex either. :frowning: I did, however, take treats to my little neighbor girls today though.

I lost money on the MP sale. The buyer was a total ditz who didn’t read beyond $10 cricut cartridges in the ad. She said that she wanted all five and asked if I could meet her in the Brentwood part of Nashville (about 20 miles from me). Because it was a $50 deal, I said yes. When I got there, she wanted to know my Venmo info (I specifically had cash only in the ad for reasons). She did go to Tar-jay to get cash, but only came out with, you guessed it, $10. Oy, geveldt. The scary part is, she teaches school. I definitely will grill anyone else before doing any meet up more than 5 miles away though.

I got my hair cut this afternoon and he got it too short. Oh, well, it’ll grow back. I will just go to another barber / stylist the next time.

Whilst working on a project in the studio later this afternoon, I managed to give my left thumb a good slice with an Xacto knife. It bled for quite a while (thanks blood thinners), but is feeling OK with a band aid now. To top it all off, this cold, drizzly weather has the metal body parts hurting. Getting old sucks.

This would be the very first thing they teach in Very Bad Kitten School. Also any box you are trying to get packed to mail or ship.

Glad to hear this. I’ve done one of those, it was very helpful and ended up being reassuring.

I have two robotic installed meshes~girdling an assortment of lady parts, ahem. I wish I’d done it sooner.

Re-thermalised bovine thoracic skeletal structure flesh has been ingested at these temporal-spatial loci.

Mrs. L.A bought absinthe. We’re drinking ‘sazeracs’ as given on the label. Not really sazeracs, IMO, but good. Two shots bourbon (I’m having rye), 1 shot absinthe, 3 dashes Angostura bitters, a bit of sugar, and a small wedge of lime.

I did laundry, napped. Ran to the likker sto for some Campari. Still empty shelves there. :grimacing: I cleaned the bathroom and dusted, since I’m going over to my friend J’s to watch the hockey game tomorrow. I’ve never had ToTers in the 12 years I’ve been here. Something about being hidden in the corner of the complex, and the psycho hellbeast terrier.

This makes my OCD throb. :open_mouth:

Yay! : waves westward :

Beat the alternative.(unless Dr. Herbert West is your neighbor).
And ouch about the finger.

: crosses apropriateappropriate appendges for Mrs. Cookie :

Yes.

I don’t do “traditional” cross-stitch (the cutesy or snarky sayings, often surrounded by a border of flowers) but instead prefer to do my own designs, filling the entire fabric with Xs rather than just stitching outlines & letters.

Needless to say, my way takes a LOT longer to complete.

My mom does landscape cross-stitch and she also does embroidery. I did some of both when I was younger. Cross-stitch kicked my butt. One of these days I’ll finish getting my workshop set up, and I can start quilting again.

I has a very important question so I’m not getting distracted by shoe’s wonderful freehand cross-stitch.

Last year I joined the Secret Santa thing and had a lot of fun. I have been shopping for this year’s Secret Santa but have been starting to worry about the post office and delays and think it should start sooner rather than later. I PM’d the last year’s organizer @Sir_T-Cups and have not gotten a reply.

I’m a bit of a noob and don’t want to step on toes. Do you guys think it would be OK for me to get the ball rolling or should I stand back and wait for a more seasoned Doper to do it?

I’d say go for it. You can use most of what you just posted. If someone wants to take over, then they can.

lol I thought that was dogs in general… and you could add a few dozen cats to that list also

true story I had gopher snakes and for some reason, they get very specific about what type of rodent they want as dinner and the rodents I’d buy from a no longer there store usually sufficed but one time it didn’t and sir Rodney the snake (let’s see if anyone gets the reference) wanted nothing to do with his dinner well dumb ass I take out the rodent and puts it back in the cardboard box intending to take it back for exchange… that lasted all of 10 minutes as when I sent to get the rodent I found the box in shreds …

Snek still needed to be fed so when I told the owner lady about ut she got a really weird look on her face … why? ancient pet store secret…90 percent of any rodent sold for food for something else is usually pregnant and sometimes labeled as “premium reptile feeders” because A there are a few things in pregnant rodents that reptiles require every so often and B. easy population control

So after a bit, I started seeing mice run around behind things occasionally …I let the snake out for hunting and well never saw him again until years later when the neighbor woman had a fit because a huge gopher snake was napping on her tree stump

rodent family chewed a huge hole in the kitchen wall…mom and landlady was not impressed

Here’s where it gets even more interesting … my moms Scottie dog (which was its name) all of a sudden remembered why his kind came into existence and single-handledly wiped out about 3 gens worth of said rodents with a determination most felines just didn’t have … the local AKC put him on their wall of fame …

shoe almost had it right our donut place did that about 4 years ago when the chain they were part of went bankrupt so they bought out their contract and went independent … I hate them but apparently, people complained about the various icings and glazes melting and sticking together when they were stacked … makes it a right pain in the ass when carrying coffees and donuts at the same time …

The only rain we received was a bit Monday or Tuesday … and just enough to make it impossible to put staked decorations in the ground …

Do hope everyone’s health worries get fixed … and hope everyone gets home safe and all that

I’m devastated. Last January, my dearest friend died. You might recall I was a wreck for quite awhile. Today I found out his daughter died suddenly and unexpectedly. I knew her from when she was born. She and my daughter were only a couple months apart. They played together and were in the same kindergarten class. Though they drifted apart along the path to adulthood, my daughter is grief-stricken as well.

I need to get in touch with the mother, also a friend, though not as close. Losing a husband and a daughter within a year seems beyond human endurance. I know people survive such things, but I don’t know how.

I can’t comprehend it, and it’s not even my loss.

one day at a time … as I discovered when my nephew and his grandfather passed 8 months apart and I’m still dealing with the effects of it to this day

That’s what it’s called. My husband had to wear a BP monitor for 24 hours, and I was remembering that one of my professors had to wear some sort of monitor for some reason, and I couldn’t remember what it was called. The professor had some sort of medical incident, wore the monitor and then had surgery and returned to teaching sometime later.

Pretty stitching shoe.

Boo I always lose my house shoes as a pair. Ever so often I decide I should park them in the same spot, and then I forget. My parents only wear house shoes with arch supports, which helps prevent additional aches.

That’s rather sad. It’s sort of like going to a chocolate store and finding unhappy workers. One would hope that such businesses treat their workers and customers well.

There’s a few too many sharp objects in this week’s MMP, flyboy and red. Not a good thing.

It is your loss as well. I think it is more difficult to see “youngsters” pass away, especially if their parent(s) are still alive. {{{nellie}}}

Today is day 2 of a 3 day weekend, and the first day of normal time. Don’t panic, Europe changes one week before the U.S., so most of you have another week before doing the clock-changing ritual. Hubby has already done the ones in the house. The car’s clock will get changed on Thursday, which is the next time we plan to use it.

Yesterday I made bolognese and told my parents that there’s a 50-70% chance we’ll visit for Christmas. We’ll make reservations in the next week or so, and make sure that we have tickets which can be moved, in case Covid goes crazy. It’ll be our first time in the States since more than 2 years.

If I will be in the States, I will join. Go for it!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 56 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 72 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by N.O.L. somewhere. I’d be fine with a McN.O,L., i.e., go through a drive thru and bring it back to da cave to consume. Today, in addition to Hallowe’en, is Reformation Day so we shall wear red and sing A Mighty Fortress Is Our God; I want to nail stuff to doors, but I know it won’t be allowed. Spoilsports!

cookie hope things are better for the wife today. Glad she went and got checked out.

obi sorry about the hernia, but at least you know there’s a fix. Not a fun fix, but still glad it’s goin’ to get taken care of.

The trunk or treat thing went over very well. A buncha cars came through and those who were handin’ out stuff to the little candy beggars ran out. The burgers and dawgs were good too.

I did read everything but retention is minimal, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlin’s, noogies, and how you doin’s all around as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday/ Reformation Day/ Hallowe’en Y’all!

After breakfast at Denny’s, we’re on the road. Home in 5 hours or so. Yay!

I’m sorry for your loss nellie. Double whammies like that are very stressful for all who know the family.

Up, caffeinating and fixing to prep lunches, put supper in the crockpot and do KP. Yee-haw!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

{{Nellie}}, sorry for your loss; that’s got to be tough on their loved ones, including you. Hang in there and talk to us if you need to let it out.

FCM, good travels today.

shady, great story on snakes, rats and terriers…

I usually get 30-40 trick-or-treaters tonight, have pleanty of candy on-hand, guess I’ll have to clean up what remains…

Paper has been rescued and pills taken, so the morning necessities are done. Skipped the Salad yesterday and did my monthly 5 Guys run, so will have the salad today as penance. Also due to referee a couple more soccer games (at least it’s supposed to be clear and about 65F, so that will be better) and then let my players shave my beard off, so the afternoon is all set.

All y’all have a good Sunday.
