Building an ark in the MMP

You might have misunderstood. I’m not heading anywhere near Donner Pass. What’s needed is the snowpack, not travel in that area by me.

And we’re just about ready to rock. Everything is in the car but the food, and I’ll pack the cooler when I get back from Roxy-ing. Ziva is unhappy - she slipped out of the bedroom while we were packing, so we’ve been keeping that door (and the other 2 bedroom doors) closed. She’s been yelling, but too bad so sad. :crying_cat_face:

The only other thing I need to do is set a light timer in the living room. We should be on the road by 5, I think. We’ll only go about 3 hours tonight, but it’s a good start.

And now, the timer!

I went to town to get casters for the new garbage bin. As expected, it’s a little unstable. It will need some trash in it. Mrs. L.A. decided she wanted to paint a wall in the kitchen. This entailed clearing off the counter, taking off the countertop, emptying the end cupboard, and moving the end cupboard out of the way.

So I go off for my ~1 hour round-trip to Bellingham. I get home expecting The Missus will have gone to the hardare store for paint. Nope. She’s tearing down the drywall. It’s got a textured surface, and she decided it would be easier to just put up new drywall. Oy. So now it’s going to be who-knows-how-long before we have a microwave oven, and room to walk around.

We got a bunch of rain here this morning too. I had to suit both Nelson and myself up so’s he could do his business.

I’m feeling a little better, though headachy (that may be lack of caffeine). I finally began to get a little peckish, so I pulled some butternut soup from the freezer and made a grilled cheese to go with. I’m about half way through it and really don’t want more. Bleccccchhhh!

flyboy Maybe try one of these for the trash can? It looks like a little rolling floor. And good luck with The Missus on a remodeling rampage.

The windstorm finally hit in the middle of the night, which woke me and kept me woke. It’s been raining since Saturday, but the wind has calmed considerably. I need to get to the gym, but every time I look out the window, I come up with another excuse to delay.

So it was Hawk vs. Dove. Cue Sixties flashback.

Mooooom, keep us informed to spare the professional worriers among us. (OK, it’s me. I gave up amateur status after the Anxiety Olympics.)

flyboy, sounds like a good excuse for dinner out–or ordered in. My, Mrs. L.A. is full of projects!

Back from nail prettification, which involved removing existing fiberglass, cutting down natural nail under it, and starting over fresh. Not a lot else on the agenda. Expected package (printer paper) got delivered, and weather forecasts conflict on whether more rain is expected today. News station with reliable weather people say not likely, Accuweather says definitely.

Just wanted to report back. He was home when I got back from the dermatologist and all is relatively well. I mean, he’s kinda stale and won’t shower, but the 'tude seems to have dissipated so that’s nice.

I’ve already got the casters on. Being casters, they’re not as stable as I’d like. If needed, I’ll make a ‘dolly’ myself.

I was wondering. She said ‘You can heat up those ribs if you want.’ I guess. Can’t reheat anything else in the microwave oven, so I may as well reheat the ribs in the oven.

Evening all. No soccer tonight as the boys finished last Saturday. Got a girl’s makeup game tomorrow at 5pm, and practice on Friday with the 12U boys. This is the last ‘regular season’ weekend for soccer, 5-7 Nov will be tournament time for the 12U’s, then I can rest until…January, when indoor soccer starts…

Finishing off a Big Bowl O’Sallit for tonight’s meal. Rain left the area around 11am and hasn’t been back, but cloudy most of the day.

flyboy, hope her ‘project’ doesn’t become a Melon–as in “Honey-do…”

OK, need to finish Salad and do some internettin’. All ya’ll take care.

It’s like they have a secret manual. Don’t ask me about his room…

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. We had a nice crowd for us, and, as usual, solved all the world’s problems. Now if we can just get folks to listen to us… I got a text this mornin’ from EYP lettin’ me (and the Senior Warden) know that today is the bday of one of our men’s night regulars and wondered if we could do sump’n a little special. So, of course, I said yes. I donned appropriate bein’ about the public attire (woe and bother!) and went to the Pubic Sto’ where I bought a Carvel ice cream cake upon which was written “Happy Birthday” and took it over to the church house. EYP asked me if I could talk a few minutes whilst I was there. The few minutes turned into an hour and a half. It was a good talk and some of it was him venting some of his frustrations. I consider that a good thing, so I am glad I was there for him. Anywho, birthday boy was pleasantly surprised, so that was good too. Dang, that was rambly!

Glad all y’all in the path of the big blast of rain etc are safe.

MOOOOOOM do check in when you can.

Bosda we had a “five hundred year flood” in 1994. Wow, ancient history now! It was a sight to behold, but I have always said we don’t know if it was indeed a “five hundred year flood” as we do not have five hundred years of recorded history.

New Orleans is at Seattle. The Saints’ QB is Winston. The Seahawk’s QB is Smith.

I wonder if Big Brother is watching?

We’re in Roanoke Rapids NC for the night. FCD is watching football :football: and I am surfing on my phone. Winding down and hoping for a good sleep. We’ll head out when we’re sufficiently awake tomorrow. At least 11 hours driving ahead. Ugh.

It’s ~8:45pm here in Northern VA, and the worst of tonight’s thunderstorm seems to have passed. It’s still raining (as it has been for the past three hours), and the doggy is still in her storm spot (on the bathmat in front of the tub). My poor girl. And on her 13th adoptiversary/“gotcha” day! At least the groceries and my Chewy order got delivered before the rain started. There’s a flash flood watch for a few more hours. Happily, even though I’m going to the customer site tomorrow morning I don’t have to leave early.

Oh man that sounds good! (But I’m sorry you still aren’t feeling well! :frowning: ) I need to have a grilled cheese sometime soon.

I’m in a weird place when it comes to having food in the house: I don’t want to buy much, because I stop eating in a couple of weeks, but I also don’t want to just rely on DoorDash. I cut way back on frozen meals when I started eating better in June, but I went ahead and included a couple of frozen favorites in this morning’s grocery delivery (chicken cordon bleu, and pub-style steak and ale pies). I forgot that each of them takes a least an hour in the oven, though — the only right way to make them — so I wound up having oatmeal for dinner. I’ll try to plan ahead tomorrow night.

…unless I give in to my recurring craving for pizza, which only the crappy weather kept me from indulging tonight. (My motto is that if I don’t want to drive in it, I won’t ask anyone else to.)

I’m not particulary tired this evening, but I figure I’ll turn in around 9:30 and watch some The Big Bang Theory on my iPad from bed. That’s been my MO lately. I used to read at night, but I don’t remember the last time I did so — even though I’m about halfway through a decent book (IIRC). I don’t know what’s up with me not really reading anymore. I think about it most nights, but I always wind up just wanting to fall asleep to TBBT (or sometimes an old radio show called Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar).

Safe travels, FCM! :four_leaf_clover:

Gym?” Mother Nature scoffed. “Did you say you were going to the gym? Bwahahaha!” And the rain becameth horizontal and there was much weeping and wailing and gnashing of branches, and so it came to pass that Nellie did not go to the gym but spent a quiet evening watching her thighs expand. The End.

Red, hope you’re fully back to your normal self pronto.

wordy, sunny, hope the teens are easier tomorrow.

Soooo by 4:30 a.m., right?

I thought we were past this sort of thing here in 2021. Yes, I double-checked the date of the story and it is THIS year, not 2020.

Geez, it doesn’t seem like that long ago when $100’s worth of TP wouldn’t FIT in a shopping cart. Sorry, I know that’s not the point. Some people are a little behind the times. Nobody tell him about the Tide Pod Challenge, OK?

Dunno, might help the gene pool.

I’m still awake. Beginning to suspect that the decaf soda wasn’t decaf. Soooooo tired… :weary:
