Building an ark in the MMP

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I had thunderstorms at 11am and 940pm yesterday.

When I took Gordie out, he was flying towards the ground, possibly to grab a squirrel. So it was airpower vs. the Varmint Cong.

: cough : Ivermectin : cough :

Back on I95 at 4:30. Rah.

I thought you were joking, but … way to call it!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and N.O.S. for the day. Laundry is the big item on today’s agenda. Sup shall be grilled poke chops, peas 'n carrots, wild rice, and rolls. Other than that, we shall work on our sloth skills.

MOOOOOOM may I 95 be not awful. Don’t forget to stop at South of The Border.

red hope you’re feelin’ better today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

I didn’t get to pop in yesterday because I was down at my office in Olympia by 5:00 am. Too early! So, I shopped at a nearby grocery store and purchased treats for the staff in the office and some yogurt and fruit for me and then headed back to the office.

The weather definitely got a pretty wild and wooly Sunday afternoon around here. Pouring rain, crazy thunder, lightning, and some pretty wild wind. Other than a brief blink, my power stayed on. It was definitely gusty when I left for work yesterday morning, and thankfully the rain held off until I got inside my office. It poured off and on all day in Olympia.

I have a lot of pretty good-sized branches down in my backyard. The massive fir tree in my back neighbor’s yard always drops branches in my yard. Frankly, I’m worried that thing is going to come down on my house some day, but it’s not my tree, so I can’t cut it down.

I plan to make some split pea soup today. It just feels like a soup day. The husband is excited, he loves my split pea soup.

Morning all. Cool (52F) heading for the mid-60’s today, clouds but no rain, so we should get the soccer game in. Other than that not much on the schedule.

Safe journey FCM/FCD.

Seanette, guess when you gotta go…but yeah, he’s a year late on this one.

swampy, sometimes having a good ear (and time to spend listening) is a most valuable resource. Good on ya.

OK, need to get my brain organized and be about the day. All y’all take care.

We’re about halfway through SC. Should hit Jawja in about 90-ish minutes. I need a snooze while my sweetie drives.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sun’s out with a vengeance this morning. Clear nights mean it’s gonna get cold, though - I need to watch & see if plants need to come in tonight.

Took off work early yesterday. Normally I resent being cut early, but this time, I volunteered.
Didn’t feel the need to mention that the reason was so I could wrap up several pending job applications. :smiling_imp:

Which I did, and now the ball is in their court … which means waiting, and waiting …

We are in Jawja!!!

Morning, all. Our rain was late but it finally got here. Enough to get the storm drains clear but not enough to bring the mountainside down on us. If we can get that amount every couple of weeks all winter I will be quite happy. Since I haven’t turned the heat on yet the cats were particularly clingy this morning.

My major beef with the week so far is that my favorite local brewery has had almost nothing drinkable on tap for the last few weeks. They have a ton of crap, but nothing that I would call beer. We put them on notice yesterday that if they didn’t have drinkable liquids available next week we would be taking our custom elsewhere. The fear among the beeristas was palpable, I tell you. I could see them shivering in terror.

OK, it might have been them struggling to contain their laughter and derision. To-MAY-to, to-MAH-to.

So there was a late air that was supposed to be there at 8, then 830, then it showed up at 840. Right when a chunk of Raleigh lost power. And no, one of the busiest hubs in a multi billion dollar shipping company does not in fact have any sort of backup power. :face_with_raised_eyebrow: But I essentially got paid to stand around for an hour(half of it in the dark, so I got that going for me. Which is nice. Of course the temps dropped from 67 to 57 by the time I left. brrrr

: waves southwest :

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 15C/59F here, and cloudy. It’s been a bit drizzly but nothing much to speak of, and it stayed dry while I was walking to the station this morning and again while I was out at lunchtime so that’s a bonus. Fingers crossed for a dry walk home tonight too.

Mooom safe travels, hope you manage to stay awake and FCD behaves himself!

Sari I think I know the person who has 5K friends, it won’t be long before someone unfriends him over some slight, and you’ll be able to squeeze in there.

Today has been busy but frustrating as I did a whole bunch of work setting up assignment portals for someone who told me one thing then changed her mind about a date, so now I’ve had to go and change all the portals again. It doesn’t take long once they’ve been set up in the first place, but annoyed me because she wasn’t sufficiently specific in the first place.

In other news, blokie has booked our flights for the hexmas trip. We leave home on 23rd December, fly to JFK on 24th, hang around for a few hours and then fly on to Vegas that day, arriving at 11.30pm. Our flight home isn’t until 5th January, and the only thing we absolutely have to do is be in Vegas on 1st January 2022. Other than that, our plans are wiiiiiiiiide open.

Of course, before that, I need to find a cattery for the mogs as our old favourite isn’t licenced any longer, and the other one our friends use is shutting in a couple of weeks until the end of the year. Of course, I need to board the mogs for a few days mid-November, and a week at the end of November, and then the whole time we’re away…

But it’s nearly hometime now, I have grocery shopping to look forward to, and leftover chilli for dinner tonight. Yay!

SWMBO says we can eat breakfast, and then I can move the refrigerator. We’ll demolish the drywall, and then I’ll go get some new drywall. SWMBO says she can mud the new walls today, and ‘maybe we can paint this weekend.’

Ugh. The dishwasher is full and in the living room. And we’re out of dishes. The countertop is leaning from the kitchen to the living room. The place is a wreck. And I’m not going to get my kitchen back until the weekend.

Mrs. L.A. got a text confirming we get our new roof Saturday and Sunday.

'Tis gorgeous and sunny out, but cold. I had an appointment with the dermatologist yesterday because of funky eyelid skin. Today I’ve got an appointment with the optometrist about my ridiculously scratched up glasses (they’re so scratched from me dropping them constantly that I can hardly see out of them). After slathering the bejeezus out of my eyelids with vaseline, said funkiness is better. Lots going on with the eyeballs lately. My mom insists I need contacts now. I’m still not ready to capitulate and admit I probably do (plus the thought of suctioning things to my eyeballs is squicky to me).

Got my waddle in today and work promptly went sideways when I got back. Sometimes I wonder why they think I know what I’m doing.

Ornitho-ova and porcine flesh have been consumed. Refrigerator has been moved enough for Mrs. L.A. to get behind it.

I need the ark today, tis truly chucking it down all day long.

And joy of joys, it appears the stack vent from the bathroom drain is leaking again. There’s a slow drip in the bathroom. I replaced the boot last summer during lockdown, it had developed a crack, and it’s been fine since then. Perhaps the damn squirrels got in there and made a new hole. I really don’t wanna crawl into the “attic” it’s just a sort of gap between the useable space on the second floor.

flyboy I hope your kitchen woes get straightened out soonest.

VangGo I hope you get the squirrel/roof figured out.

Today is slightly better than yesterday, head-wise. I think. It looks like the BIG pressure drop from the cyclone bomb has reversed itself. Sometimes it takes a day or 2 after weather nonsense like that for my body to settle down, so I’m not sure how today will go yet.

The re-fi people have sent me a note to let me know that the IRS won’t share information with them, because their address on file doesn’t match the address on the current property. I don’t know which address the IRS has, because, OG bless them, they are the IRS. I’m going to have to call, and boy I don’t want to.

I also have to muscle through and try and get the house in order. The appraisal person wants a picture of every room. I am already exhausted just thinking about it.

Happy Toesday y’all.

Chyah! As if!

And we have arrived. Inlaws are not - dr appt, i think. It’s 88 stoopit degrees out there. We’re in air conditioned comfort.

I went back to the hardware store to get paint and drywall nails. Leaving, I met the president of the local astronomy club. I have an 8-inch Celestron I’ve never used, so he’ll spread the word when I send him pictures and I can sell it.

Mrs. L.A. is mudding.
