Would it be wrong to say that actually, I do think what airdisc did (giving several different birthdays) was kind of funny?

what I saw was some one intentionally ‘pissing in some bodys’ cheerios’, making a joke of something that she was doing as a nice gesture.
So, his ‘joke’ was a bit mean spirited (I mean what the fuck does he care if folks want to celebrate the b’days? So if I’d said 'happy b’day airdisc, I’d get to feel taken? ). Then, when she initially called him on it, she asked for an explanation, and he replied that it was a joke, she replied that she didn’t find it amusing, please stop, and he asked about the stick up her ass.
Was it the biggest deal here? nope. had he dropped it or appologized after getting caught, it could have died. instead, he decided that she over-reacted to his over-reaction.
seriously - you play a joke on some one, they catch you at it and tell you they didn’t find it funny and please stop, and your reaction is to ask about the stick up their ass?
It could have been water under the bridge had he not escalated it more by opening a pit thread specifically saying that she didn’t deserve an apology
I think it’s funny, too. I even think it’s funny the second time when Jack Batty’s doing it in this thread. I’ve giggled each time.

My humble opinion. airdisc was over the top with his “stick up the ass” comment, but come on … nobody thought Flamsterette was being just a tad melodramatic?

I half-way agree with airdisc, a little sense of humor can go a long way.
My birthday isn’t yesterday or today either, just in case anyone was preparing an injunction against me.
And I agree that a ‘little sense of humor’ can go a long way etc. and that the ‘we are not amused’ was a tad pretensious.
however. what I saw was airdisc decided to have some fun at Flam’s expense. She does these b’day threads, obviously gets some measure of pleasure out of it. I’m personally not into it at all, but ya know what? I wouldn’t make it a point to step in and make fun of the people who were. and that’s what he did. a joke at their expense ‘look, I can lie about this and get people to wish me b’day greetings over and over and no one noticed for months and months.’ (this of course assumes that other posters remember his postings from time to time).
so her first thing to him was ‘splain it please’. and he simply stated it was a joke. not, ‘sorry’, but ‘it’s a joke’. so she got peeved that some one went to those lengths to poke fun at her trying to be nice. and got all huffy about it. I think she was entitled to a little huffiness myself, but even if you didn’t agree w/that, if some one’s not laughing at your joke, getting aggressively in their face about it isn’t likely to charm anyone either.
and that’s what he did. and then he goes to the length of posting this thread, specifically saying she doesn’t deserve an apology? what a schmuck.
again - I don’t get into the b’day threads, post count parties etc for the most part (won’t claim that I’ve never posted in 'em but they would be less than 1% of my posting history I’d bet) but why the fuck go out of your way to be snide to folks who are? where was his damage 'cause somebody took it upon herself to be the ‘birthday mom’ here?

No one! It’s a friggin’ joke, just like airdisc said. It’s not his fault Flamster got mortally offended by it.
I kinda get the feeling that a lot of people just don’t like airdisc. I can’t remember if he’s been particularly offensive, or has presented unpopular opinions anywhere, but right up to the “stick up your ass” crack (heh, “ass-crack”), he wasn’t being all that rude or offensive at all. Maybe a bit obnoxious, but not offensive.
All that being said, I must agree that creating this particular thread probably wasn’t the wisest move either.
Jack can you see that at the least, it could be seen as a slam against her harmless fun?
and if he didn’t intend it as a slam against her, when it was obvious that she took it that way (or at least was really bugged by it), if his true intent was just harmless fun, wouldn’t the best response to that have been “oops, my bad, I meant it as just fun, sorry you didn’t take it that way” or words to that effect?
