I was really wondering what cat butt coasters would look like, and now I understand. Very cute.
Regarding snowflakes - I have purple snowflake coasters at work, which is a nice wintery touch, without being red or green (and white - well, that’s just asking for trouble).
My sister-in-law crochete square coasters from hemp thread, which she said was rather difficult to work with. For some reason she only made three, which confused hubby and I. He thought there were 2, and I thought there were 4 and thought I lost one. Rather relieved I hadn’t. They look similar to these.
This week was another rather busy week. Monday was a concert in Zurich, which meant we spent the night there. Tuesday was a work dinner event and Thursday we had another event in the evening. We made an early night of it on Friday.
Today I’ve been a bit more industrious. Emptied the fridge, two drawers, and three shelves of expired items. Ended up with 20 empty spice jars, some which had been expired for more than 5 years. Oops. Some I had barely touched, and no longer had much scent. I have a few marginal items, which expired earlier this year, so I’ll use them up.
This means the kitchen is still a bit of a mess, as I emptied out the baking drawer which had probably at least a tablespoon’s worth of granulated sugar along the bottom. So it’s open to dry, plus the drawer liner is drying separately.
Then we’ll go for a walk and move the last items before the workers come tomorrow and make a bit of a mess.
I am another pie lover, but I’ll make a major dent in an angel food cake. I save egg whites in the freezer just so I can make one from scratch. I have a recipe which uses a loaf pan, which is perfect, so I don’t have to have a silly pan just for an angel food cake.
I tend towards cakes with fruit/vegetable, such as banana, carrot, apple, pear, blueberry, etc. Chocolate cake is often disappointingly dry and is often “balanced” with goopy frosting.
My dad is almost fully recoved from Covid, and my mom’s making progress. Might ruin their Thanksgiving plans, though, because they’re planned to have Thanksgiving with another couple, and she has surgery planned at the beginning of December. My parents will be outside the 10 day period, and it’s unlikely they will be contagious, but they really want to make sure that they don’t infect anyone.
I’ve heard of piecaken, but I’m certainly not going to make one. I don’t even bake as much as I used to, as I used to always bring stuff to work. There aren’t enough people in the office, so home-baked goods don’t get eaten that fast. If I was at a place where I could get a slice, I would definitely order one.
And despite the weather forecast to the contrary, it’s sunny outside!
Happy Sunday!
