Well, fellow Calgarians, we have a time and a place. GingerOfTheNorth is going to be in town the weekend of July 8 + 9, and the plan is to go to the Thai Chili Club on Saturday, July 8, 7:00 pm.
I’ll be making a reservation for anyone who wants to come out and meet (or get re-acquainted with) the illustrious Ginger. You’ve got about a week to decide if you want to come out and have fun, or if you want to be a big poopie head and stay home. Your choice.
Okay, so clearly this was posted right around the time I sent you that email. The one saying that the next weekend would be better if we could include a crazy redhead.
The one on 11th avenue SW (want to make sure my idea of downtown is the same as yours). I thought you not coming out for food was a little unusual, Gut.
I know what you mean, about being excited about meeting Dopers. I haven’t met any yet that I didn’t like. I guess there’s a reason that we all keep coming back to these ol’ boards.
Glad to see it’s not cancelled. Serious Lark and I were planning on attending, and I had remembered the date as being today. I think we can make it next week.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting Ginger!
So, with all of the people involved, do you think that maybe we should go somewhere a little less formal? Somewhere we can sit and hang out for hours, rather than Chili Club (which is a pretty upscale environment). Also, beef and beer. Or a damned good burger. I’m happy to get lunch there, but it’s really not a hang-out kinda place.
Not a bad idea, Ginger.
For a hang-out kinda place with excellent burgers, I would recommend Tipperary’s Pub on 16th Avenue. We’re regulars there - it’s smokefree on one side, but you can go smoke on the other side if there are any smokers in the group. Pool tables, dart boards, big-screen tv’s, the usual (and scantily-clad waitresses, for those of us who care about that. )
What say you all? Should we go with majority rule? Who wants thai food, and who wants to go hang out for an evening?
