Seems to me that we ought to be studying the ways in which threads die. For one thing, there’s the response that’s so banal that it proves that there truly is nothing more to say.
Then there’s the response that’s just other-worldly enough to show a disconnect by the last poster’s thinking, but not interesting enough to pursue or refute.
I am quite capable of making such responses, I’ll have you know.
