Calling all Fantasy Football refugees!

I didn’t think there was any question that Holmes isn’t a solid #1 pick. I’d never take him there. Hell, I wouldn’t take him there if I had the top pick 1 day before the season started and he had been given a clean bill of health by 3 different specialists. That’s just my personal opinion of him, I know, but he’s way too questionable to be the top pick right now.

I agree with mouthbreather that a draft should be deeper. 9 skill players might be pushing it, though. Are the number of rounds in the draft customizable on antsports?

Can’t change the amount of rounds. Sorry.

And WL, what’s it going to take for you to give Priest the props? You said the same thing last year (as did everyone else), and I believe you maintained denial all season long. If he’s given a clean bill of health, there is absolutely nothing that prevents him from being a clear-cut #1.

Tomlinson is wonderful, and the addition of Neal at FB should help, as will being in Martyballville. However, he’s going to break down with the amount of carries he gets.

Portis is amazing, but what prevents the opposing team from putting all 11 in the box with Jake Plummer behind center? (As an aside, Shannon Sharpe is going to embarrass himself this year.)

Ricky Williams is great, but not nearly as consistent a producer as Priest is.

All these guys are top 5, but if you’re looking at a 100% healthy Priest, who could you possibly justify over him?

Ben Gay!

I’ll always take Dick Vermeil’s tailback if he is healthy. Marshall Faulk, Priest Holmes, if Ben Gay was in KC I’d be all over him.
Assuming he wasn’t all over me.

I can’t believe I just said that.

I had the #5 pick in our draft last year, and I almost wet myself when Holmes was still available. I rode him to a second place finish. I also had Michael Vick. The rest of my team missed significant time due to injuries. I swear I was a jinx.
The problem, IMHO, is Holmes’ health. If I was 100% certain he was good to go, then taking him at 1 is a no-brainer. I’ll probably feel better when I see him go through training camp.

I had picks 8 and 9 last year, and got Holmes and Harrison. Also got Duece Mac in the 3rd, Gannon in the 5th, and Ward in the 6th. Of course, I lost in the playoffs but I was far and away the overall points leader, so I got 3x my entry fee back.

btw, hustler picked…FCDoA is up now.

I have two main problems with him, Munch.

  1. His injury
  2. And I know this for a fact. He is going to drop off the face of the earth one of these years. He’ll suddenly and inexplicably only be able to grind out 2.8 ypc, he’ll stop breaking those 50-yard trotters and he’ll stop scoring. I swear it. No one will be able to explain it, but I’ll know.

On preview: finally. I’ve been sending him obnoxious emails all morning.

Carmen is Up.
Horn, RSmith, EddieG and FraudT all gone now.

I was soooooooo tempted to go for Bennett.

Rod Smith fell to me? I hate Plummer too, but geez. With an actual O-line in front of him he won’t be able to put the ball on the ground on every down. I’m surprised I got Smith. With Boston and Smith (and in my comment on Boston I meant to refer to SD not Arizona of course) as my WRs I think I made up for a mediocre first 2 rds with Faulk and James (who woulda thought a year ago that anybody could be referring to Faulk as a mediocre pick, eh?).

Preview: Well, Horn and Martin were both on my pre-draft list. We’ll see if you guys can erase the rest of it before I get to go again.

Maroons up.

Heck, so is Maurice Clarett, eventually. My guess is, if Holmes is healthy, it won’t be this year. If he’s healthy.

Did I mention that I only believe this if Holmes is healthy? Just wanted to make sure.

How in the world do you have Rod Smith in your Top 30? Don’t forget, this is only an 8 person draft. Rd. 4’s last pick is #36. I see 3 WRs better than Smith (though there is no way that Smith won’t be a productive and consistent WR - I just don’t see the theft here).

But 8 team drafts are misleading. Let’s start signing up for next week’s draft, and aim for a 14 team league.

  1. Munch
  2. WL
  3. Nurse?
  4. mouth?
  5. wadda?
  6. jk?
  7. Shibb?
  8. hustler?
  9. neuroman?
  10. ??
  11. ??
  12. ??
  13. ??
  14. ??

Will they have the newly drafted available? That would make things interesting.

You know I’m in.

yeah, I’m good with that
I agree about Rsmith. I am not touching him this year (unless we are talking pick 50+) Plummer scares me WAY too much. It may bite me in the ass, but I want no part of him.

Well, I had no idea that was the general perception of him. Live and learn. That’s what these drafts are for, right? So I don’t make any flub picks in an actual draft this fall.

I don’t have a top 30, or a top anything. I’m just drafting by ear so to speak. I hadn’t given football a single thought since the Superbowl until this came up.

I’m real excited about the bigger draft. If non-Dopers are welcome as well I’m sure my friend ‘hustler’ would like to participate also, if there’s space.

I’m there.

Which one of you is FCDoA?

Oh no no no no no, Munch. You’re not going to ‘mock’ my Rod Smith pick and then take Jimmy. Who’s throwing to him?

I’ll go out on a limb right now and predict that Plummer will end the season with a higher QB rating than the highest-rated Jax QB that appears in 3 games or more.
