Calling all Trekkies: only serious nerds need apply

Didn’t he die in Star trek II?
Uruha never died neither did Sulu.

All of the Next Generation Characters have died more than once. And in one episode at least five times.

What’s the episode where Jonathan Frakes almost loses an eye?
The “Robin Hood” episode, where Q throws them all in Sherwood Forest to prove that Picard really cares about Vash. In the final fight scene, where everyone is sparring, one of the villians swings a rod and accidentally hits Frakes in the face, coming dangerously close to poking out his eye.

On a side note, didn’t Paramount do this because Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was coming out, with Kevin Costner? I remember thinking at the time the show first aired the timing was incredibly coincindental.
The one I remember coming up with:

5 full blooded Vulcans referred to in TOS:

Sarek
T’Pring
T’Pau
Stonn
Sesek (sp?) referred to in Ultimate Computer - in a “today I will be brilliant” aside by Kirk - like Einstein, Or Sesek of Vulcan,…

Well, to be technical, she played Nurse Chapel in TOS, Loxanna Troi in TNG and has also been in TOS, TNG and several of the movies as the voice of the computers. She has also been in all of the TOS movies as “Dr. Chapel”, usually appearing in the background of one scene or another, but always in the credits.

Oops, almost forgot also that Majel Barret was the original “Number One” in the first pilot, serving with Captain Christopher Pike.

One you forgot:

Surak, the father of Vulcan philosiphy
, shown in the same episode with Abraham Lincoln and Genghis Kahn.

Zev Steinhardt

:smack:

old q, I remembered the obscure one…

John Tesh and Mick Fleetwood both appeared in TNG episodes. What species did they both appear as?

Whoops! Forgot to answer:

Klingons

Well, I’m not really a trekkie, but in an attempt to contribute something:

What TNG actor performed in a Steven Sondheim musical before acheiving ST fame?

Geez, talk about opposites.

I had to look that one up. He’s listed in the credits as ‘Comic’. Was he ever actually refered to as Joe Piscopo? I’d say it doesn’t count if he wasn’t.
What was the only episode of TOS which showed the Enterprise (that’s the USS Enterprise ;)) orbiting a planet from right to left instead of left to right?

Shore Leave (Mirror Mirror doesn’t count)

Who was the voice of Sargon, the disembodied conscienceness in Return to Tomorrow and the voice of the Obliesk in For the World is Hollow and the voice of the M5 in The Ultimate Computer?

None other than James Doohan (Scotty)

What other TOS episode was the clear ‘bubble’ on Lazarus’ ship in Alternative Factor used in?

It covered the Gamesters of Triskelion

In one episode Sulu wore a red uniform and in one episode he wore a blue one. What were they and why?

He wore a red uniform in Mirror Mirror because he was chief of security and he wore a blue uniform in the pilot Where No Man because he was originally supposed to be a scientist (mathematician)

What more famous character did the actor who played the leader of the passive aliens w/the dilithium crystals in Mirror Mirror also play?

He was the voice of Nomad

What does the NCC in a starship’s reg number stand for?

Nothing. Roddenberry just made it up

Name the episode of Voyager which featured a crossover character from the Star Wars universe?

Made you look! (but even this would have helped that show!)

Quote:
What does the NCC in a starship’s reg number stand for?
The original Star Trek blueprints by Franz Joseph had the NCC stand for Naval
Construction Contract number 1701. The actual origin of NCC was the Enterprise’s designer Matt Jeffries, NCC-1701 was the registration number on his biplane.

Plane tail numbers in North America begin with just an N (for North America) not NCC. Roddenberry was quoted (I believe by Jeffries) as saying he saw the N-number and just add NC.

Jeffries also said he chose 1701 because the number was easy to read from far away. He also said that’s why he chose 1017 for The Constellation even though, if it were the same class, a 17xx number would have made more sense. 1017 looked a lot more different than 17xx would have.

Some have given other theories, but these are all after the fact.

“For crying out loud, its just a TV show!”

The one I heard most often about the 1701 and 1017 numbers was that they used the (I believe) Estes model kit to damage up for the Constellation. Limited stick on numbers because of it.

With how it looked, especially from behind, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I would add one more person to that list. I would include Data. I know that Data considered Lor to be his brother, but in what sense can androids be considered brothers? They’re certainly not biological brothers. They only way they might be considered brothers is if they were both legally declared human (or Vulcan or Klingon or Romulan or whatever) and then were both legally adopted by the same human (or Vulcan etc).

Pish-tosh. What is this, amateur hour?

What 1980s sitcom featured two future Trek actors?

Rene Auberjonois (“Odo”) and Ethan Phillips (“Neelix”) were both regulars on Benson

Of course, if you want to be able to drop obscure Trek references in conversation, try opening with: “So, the little blonde lab technician that Kirk almost married, was that Carol Marcus or what?”

Still can’t do the nice black box so-
Spoiler Space-

I could not disagree more. Dr Neunyen Sung(I don’t know if I spelled that right-and I don’t care) appeared three times(once in the flesh, once as an interactive hologram built into a chip on another android, and once as a prerecorded message activated when Data first dreamed.) . Considering the fact that he designed and built Data, Sung has a pretty strong claim on the title of Father. Data also built a daughter, Lal. Data’s claim on fatherhood is even stronger. He not only built Lal. He programmed her using direct transfers from his own positronic brain.

C’mon Doc, you can do it…

remember where you put the word quote in your last post? just use the word spoiler the same way. If I can do it, anyone can.

Can it truly be that simple? I’ve assumed all this time that I’d need VBcode for resetting text and background color and a few other things.
Can It really be that easy??

All signs point to yes

John Tesh was one of several holodeck Klingons, stabbing Worf with pain sticks on his anniversary of Ascension, or whatever the birthday equivalent is.

Mick Fleetwood played a fish type being who was going to blow up a conference. Laxwanna Troi exposed him at the end of the show, after she had spent all her time trying to track down a man.
