Can we please have a better week in the MMP?

I am NOT asking questions about your financial situation, but I will suggest that you look into low-income medical insurance before the end of the month. I’m sure you can find the income requirements online, but also look to see if there are income exemptions that might help you.

You need to at least apply by the end of the month because if you are approved your coverage will begin at the first day of the month you applied even if it does take longer to actually get approved.

I’ll be OK until DH’s coverage kicks in at the start of June, barring any new medical developments. ER tonight wasn’t too awful financially (within what I currently had and could spare in checking), the prescription was cheap. Biggest challenge is that RX is for 30 days, which isn’t quite going to be long enough, but the pharmacy can and says they will contact the issuing doctor for a renewal to get me over that time gap.

Have confirmed that I am OK to drive, the doctor seemed surprised that I even thought of asking about that. Of course, he was also apparently a bit surprised by all the assorted info I had with me and ready  . Of course, the pharmacist suggested I give that a few days until I have a handle on the lisinopril side effects, and thinks it’s best I take that in the evening along with the vitamin, etc.

It worries me how some really basic stuff (should I take this at a particular time of day, am I OK to drive, etc.) that I’d expect they hear from a lot of patients seemed to surprise the medical types so much. Am I really that more on the ball than average? I wouldn’t have thought so.

Sorry for fussing…I do worry about my loved ones, even if they are imaginary intertubz friends. I feel much better knowing that you have a plan

I just have to ask about this. Is it just his carrier or do they make real car seats for dogs? My mind keeps thinking silly Nelson would look strapped into a child car seat, but not having kids or dogs I’m not sure how any of those really work.

I just found out the Dark Shadows movie on Netflix. I’ve never seen it but OMG I was so in love with Barnabas back when I was a vapid tween. I don’t think I’ll watch it tonight, that’s something I need to be in the right mood to enjoy. *remind me to tell you guys about selling enough newspapers to go to Dracula’s castle during the same time of my life.

Oh, trust me, you are. Having a conversation with the pharmacist about a new drug alone puts you head and shoulders above the rest. And then you actually follow the expert advice you are given. Extremely rare IME.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heav.

Well, much like all the other small predators in my place, Fred is “special”. But he does eat bugs.

Having my mid-sleep bio break. It’s partially insomnia, and partially my “me” time to sit & chill.

Having brought home a side of mashed potatoes and gravy from the diner, I’ve now discovered that Monkey likes the stuff. He’s licked the lid clean. See, I share!

Okay, now he’s got the zoomies and I’m going back to intrrnettin’ for a bit. See y’all later.

Well, Buddy’s here. Allie’s tried to swat him a couple of times. Hisses and swats aren’t terribly serious. Buddy is rather vocal and sounds like he might have some Siamese in the mix somewhere. He has grasped when he is being verbally corrected and does respond when being corrected for things like using the carpet as a scratching post.

The lisinopril is doing amazingly. I woke up after only about 5 hours from taking it, blood pressure read 146/88. That’s a remarkable drop in such a short time, IMO. Not having any problems with side effects so far, either, AFAICT.

That’s terrific, and hooray for no side effects!

Taz likes to lick my ice cream dishes, no matter the flavor, but it’s more of a taste, then he’s done. Neither of our cats seem to want anything other than their dry kibbles or Temptations treats (which they lurve!!) Higgs, on the other hand, is a little garbage disposal of a beggar because someone is always giving her stuff she shouldn’t be eating.

nettie - I was taking lisinopril for a number of years along with my other BP med - never aware of any side-effects, tho. I guess if something had happened, I’d have noticed, right? The only reason I no longer take it is after I shed some tonnage, my doc and I worked on reducing my med intake at my request. I was worried about taking too much. But good on ya for asking all the right questions!

I’ve had this weird feeling of dread hanging over me for a couple of days, and I have no idea why. It’s as if there’s something I should be remembering to do or worrying that something is going to happen if I don’t do… something. It’s hard to describe. Right now I’m treating it like a residual symptom of fatigue after our trip and my bout of stomach crud. I hope it lifts soon. I wouldn’t even know who to consult about it because I can’t really describe it. “Weird feeling” is hardly a symptom.

So, plan for the day. I need to iron our clothes for tomorrow. I need to make a canvas cover for the large display on the boat (even tho it has a fitted cover - FCD is a bit of a worrier.) I’m going to move my spider plants from the back deck to the front porch. I have to go watch Toby when my SIL has PT, but I’m hoping before then to have enough time to get some veggie seeds in the ground. I have a hunk of sorta-clear plastic I can put over it these next few nights when it’s going to be chilly. So I think that will fill my time.

Just had some cottage cheese and peaches for breakfast, and the cheese tasted like it’s starting to go off - it has been in the fridge for a bit. It didn’t smell bad, and didn’t exactly taste bad, but it still wasn’t quite right, so into the trash it’ll go. I have a couple of teriyaki poke chops thawing that I’ll do for lunch with my sous vide stick, and I’ll steam some rice, and I think some green beans will round out the plate. And maybe some 'mater slices? Sounds like all the big decisions for the day have been made.

Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I need to go over to the church house to deal with candles this mornin’ and since I am to be out and about, shall make a run to :astonished:Wally*World :astonished: for a few needed items. That will be enough dealin’ with people for the day. Sloth and nappage shall consume the rest of my time. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s with oven fries.

Nettie glad you have a med for your HBP.

VanGo take the day off. Rest, drink fluids, and eat whatever you think you can stomach.

shoe sounds like Monkey is a cat of discernin’ taste.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe!

Happy Firday Y’all!

When my PCP prescribed it for me he said that it was inexpensive, very effective and that the only side effect is a low level dry cough that goes away after a month or so.

Morning all. Went to bed early (for me) and got up about 6:30am, so we’ll see how the day goes. Did get the newspaper and mail shut down for the time I will be on vacation in May and will finally review my draft Will and Testament (only let it sit for a week) as I have just printed it out. For me, that’s a pretty ambitious morning. Still have swimmin’ and soccer to do, weather is supposed to stay nice until Sunday.

Seanette, I take Lisinopril (30mg) also, never had any side effects, but given my weight (still considerable) and diet (probably all the wrong things), it doesn’t seem to have helped much. But I see you’ve been advised to take it at night–I take it first thing in the morning with my other med-maybe I’ll try changing that. Once you have insurance in-place, the cost is very low.

Sari, ‘Mother’s other daughter’ = sister? Hope things work out on the Will. Me, I plan to outlive everyone…

FCM, I have that feeling at times too, usually wake up one morning (like today) and just have a ‘list’ in my head that I have to do. Hopefully a good night’s sleep will jog your memory.

OK, need to Break fast and sit down to read the Will, so all y’all take care.

The ER doctor decided to start me on 10mg, which seems to be reasonable. The pharmacist said it didn’t really matter what time of day, so when I explained that I typically take other daily stuff, such as my multi-vitamin, in the evening, she said that was fine and would probably be better for a few days until I found out whether dizziness is a problem. Doesn’t seem to be so far, but I have one dose of info to go on.

I’m also rather “fluffy” (no exact number will be given, I didn’t even tell DH that one), with dubious dietary habits, so I can sympthatize. At least you’re a lot more physically active than I am.

Good morning everyone.

It’s 44 degrees, cloudy and damp outside. The expected high is 58 with rain moving in again during the evening hours.

I’m glad you got your BP meds and they weren’t stupid expensive, seanette.

Get some rest, VanGo!

Polar likes to lick our ice cream bowls clean and we let him unless we’ve had chocolate ice cream.
He doesn’t get to have that.

Another very long and exhausting week. I just need to get through today. It looks like I may be taking a couple of trips over to the other side of the mountains next month; a trip to Wenatchee and a multi-day outreach trip in the Okanagan area. The month of May looks like it’s going to be busy; besides work, and the work trips, I am keeping Adam for a weekend The weekend I am keeping Adam is also Mother’s Day weekend, so we’re probably going to have to do that early, or push it off. I’d rather do it early, because if we push it off, that’s my birthday weekend, and the husband and I have vague plans for taking an overnight trip somewhere.

FCM, I know exactly the feeling you are describing. I hate that feeling. I also get the weird, prickly hairs on the back of my neck standing to go with it. I am always freaked out that I have done something horribly wrong at work or have forgotten to pay a major bill.

Well, I suppose I should get a move on. Time waits for no man or woman.

Sure it does, that’s what “snooze” buttons are for.

jane the cane, Nelson’s car seat isn’t anything regulated or fancy. It’s a two slat high orchard crate (Dad makes these) with a cheapie dog bed in it and seatbelted in. Ii have a carbiner on the oh shit bar on the passenger side that I hook his leash into to keep his range limited. I worked on an ambulance crew in college and saw accidents where a dog survived the initial impact, but got scared, bolted into traffic and got squished, so the rule in my car is that critters ride tethered. It also gives him a comfy spot for road trips.

seanette, I take the same dosage of Lisinopril as you do to help protect my diabetic kidneys (never had BP issues). I also take it at night and have never noticed any side effects. It’s another that isn’t cost prohibitive.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of sheets and towels ready for the dryer and a load of jeans on deck. Once Friday chores are done and groceries are bought, I’ll take my boy for a birthday romp at the dog park (he’s five  ).

This picHere is the first picture of him shortly after he was dried off by his mother:
Newborn Nelson

This is a more recent one: Sleepy boy

DH and Allie are both rolling their eyes at all the “aaawww” those pictures induced. I don’t care, I need the cute.

All righty!! Showered and dressed. Clothes for tomorrow are ironed. Cat box has been scooped, critter fountain has been scrubbed and refilled. I think I’ve earned a sit-down. Plus I’m thirsty, so water.

After one year and five months of procrastinating, I have finally made an appointment with a GP! Huzzah! However, she wasn’t available until the end of June, which is either good or bad, depending: I could clean up my act a bit before then, but waiting sucks. Oh, well.

Today is overlyboy’s first post-op. I’m pulling overlyhusband along so he can hear the doctor’s orders straight from the horse’s mouth. He has these really outdated medical notions and I need the doc to correct them because sometimes you just need to hear them from an expert.

For example, after this type of surgery, the surgeon’s orders were walk as much as possible, Avoid twisting and bending your back. if something hurts, stop doing what hurts and be careful when showering. My husband’s is to limit all motion, be totally prone in bed and not to shower - literally at all - for the first two weeks. It was a mildly stinky and contentious few days before I finally thrust the discharge orders under his nose and forced him to read them with me. Since I don’t wanna go through that again, he’s coming with us.

Anyway, the day is grey and rainy, but that’s okay. At least I don’t have to water the fancy new herbs I got at the herb sale last night.

Sounds like my MIL - she will go to the doctor, ask questions, get all the info, the do whatever the hell she wants. She NEVER finishes a course of antibiotics - so she can save some. She’ll halve the dosage of pain meds, just in case she needs them another time. Then she wonders why she feels the way she does. Sadly, her first-born son shares some of those traits. Good luck getting your husband to comply!
