Crikey, it’s almost noon!
I guess I’d better go for my walk. Maybe only two miles today.

The only accent I’ve had trouble understanding is that of a Chinese doctor in the urology clinic I used to be registered with. I might have tried harder to understand him if he’d been a nicer guy, but he had no empathy or caring, rather abrupt.
Almost forgot to mention that not too long after we got up, Buddy was yelling at the door. He stayed for about an hour, then politely asked to be let back out. No evening visit, we went to bed before he worked his way around to us. One minor swatty episode between the cats, but since no one was getting vocal about it, probably NBD. I don’t worry much about such moments unless I hear snarling or yowling. That would mean someone seriously wants to harm someone else, which needs to be stopped.
The Princess is still sulking a little about vacuuming, I think. I suspect a Roomba would simply send her over the mental edge. ![]()
OK, 2.72 miles.
Here’s the spreadsheet I’ve just started.
| Date | Miles | Hours | Minutes | Seconds | Total time | Speed (mph) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 04/24/22 | 2.76 | 54 | 49 | 0.91 | 3.02 | |
| 04/27/22 | 2.51 | 51 | 46 | 0.86 | 2.91 | |
| 04/28/22 | 2.72 | 53 | 42 | 0.90 | 3.04 |
I’m with ya there! My decision to become a Navy Officer was based entirely upon looking at the pay scales. Once I was there, I discovered I sucked at being management, and I hated it. After I returned to civilian life, I was quite happy to be a worker bee.
OK, here’s my tale of adventure.
The battery charger did nothing, but FCD found our jumper cables and we got my car started. The plan was for me to drive to the shop and he’d follow. Well, I got out of our neighborhood on to the main road, only to discover that my car wouldn’t go over 20MPH, so I pulled over on our generously wide shoulder (built for Amish buggies) and a few seconds later, FCD pulled up behind me. We decided that he’d drive the car and I’d follow in his, and that turned into driving 3 miles to Wawa and calling the body shop. They directed us to GEICO who set up a tow for us.
About 40-ish minutes later, the tow truck showed up and hauled my Sonata away with us not far behind. When we got to the shop, we found out that they might not even be able to get to my car for 2 weeks - they have a big backlog - and since all of a sudden there’s a check-engine light and all that crap, who knows what else may have to be addressed. So I signed all the paperwork and resigned myself to not seeing my car till maybe the end of May.
Next stop was the credit union, then Olive Garden for soup and salad for lunch. We ran into WalMart and each found some black pants (mine are pleated and look more like a skirt.) Then we drove to the boat so FCD could take some measurements. Next stop was Penney’s where, luckily, we found a shirt he liked that fit, plus a tie, since his are all old and icky. And by applying for a JCP credit card, we got 35% off, so it was worth the extra couple of minutes to do that.
SIL called and asked if I’d watch Toby tomorrow while he had PT, and it works out, because I need to talk to him and my daughter about vehicular swaps - long convoluted story I shan’t get into.
Anyway, we’re home with appropriate attire for the memorial (as soon as I iron everything) so that part of today was successful. And we won’t be paying for the tow - it was covered under our accident claim, so there’s that.
I think I need a nap. ![]()
Dang about additional car problems FCM. It’s such a shame you couldn’t get the work done while you were away.
You are a good person.
Our problem with VBC and GG is that she is always very vocal and it sounds like she’s getting killed at the best of times. I can tell by pitch if VBC is getting scared or pissed but hubs can’t which results in him breaking them up long enough to walk away before they are rolling around on the floor again.
I went to surplus produce today and I have never seen the line that long before. We all stay in our cars and line up on the side of the street, then drive through and the volunteers put the boxes in our trunks. Cars usually line up for about three short blocks, so maybe 30 +/- cars total. Today there was at least twice that many and more people were lining up as I was leaving. Of course there will be more people when groceries are expensive but still, wow. I can’t imagine what the lines are like for the low-income food boxes.
We got some nice assorted lettuces and bagged salads, I kept one for dinner tonight but gave the rest away. No citrus today but a bunch more tomatoes. Oddly enough, we haven’t gotten onions for a while. I wonder what’s up with that…
I went into town and now that I’ve gotten used to life in the slow lane, I kinda like how I don’t get tailgated nearly as often. (I still do, but I feel no obligation to do anything about it and eventually they pass me on the left where they should have been all along.) I was dismayed to learn that my AC costs about two miles a gallon, I thought running the AC wasn’t an issue with newer cars.
It’s such a lovely day that I’m going to spend the rest of it on the porch. Stay out of trouble, y’all.
I’m proud of you too! Congratulations!

They are so cute!
You’re a good egg.
Howdy all. 'Beamette is doing better. She’s allowed to go to the bathroom by herself again, which makes her happy. She’s sleeping a lot today. One more day to go. Yay! She says thank you for the best wishes. ![]()
In other unexpectedly dramatic news, there was a sexual assault on 'Beamer’s bus this morning. The incident was stopped very quickly. He reported it as soon as he got to school - go him! Reports have been filed, investigations are underway, and Beamer doesn’t want to ride the bus because he doesn’t trust the driver to handle situations correctly. I would like to say that my kiddo is pretty great.
Happy Thursday everyone.
Got a text from Wifey earlier today, saying the Japanese place we like that’s near the cinema is serving beer now. They’d served it before, but they changed owners and it took forever for them to get a new liquor license. I suspect we’ll have a movie and dinner (and Sapporo) soon. Checking the listings, I think SWMBO will choose the new Fantastic Beasts movie.
heh im trying to decide if some of us are having a better week or not lol
Howdy Y’all! We are now out of danger for bein’ the worst yahd in da hood. Go Me! We made the executive decision to go have an early sup at the good Mexican place where we had steak and shrimp fajitas and margaritas. YUM! Now we have entered chill mode.
Got my stationary bicycling in at the gym and moved a couple of weights. My lab reports from my physical yesterday were sent to me and they look good, only thing out of scale is my white blood cell count is a little high (normal is 9.5%, mine is 10%, so no big deal). BP is still high (163/91) but I think, like others here, it’s the way the BP thing squeezes my arm until the blood is forced to pressure its’ way through that causes it. Ah well, will stick with the pills.
Need to get up and head out to the park for my walkabout. It’s 78F outside so definitely t-shirt weather.
All y’all take care.
Not a better week here. What I had thought was a bad reaction to KFC (which it was) has turned into 3 days of a slight fever, stuffed up head, and chills, very little appetite, and everything is sore. I’ve C-tested 3 times, all negative, but I feel like poo. I’ve been trying to power through, but I may take tomorrow and do nothing.
Have you been hanging out with FCM? She didn’t start to feel better until she gave up and went to bed for a couple of days. You should pay attention to her good example. Oh, and be sure to eat what you can and drink lots of fluids.
Mooooom, I feel you on the hair. My first professional post-pandemic cut in October should have been the length that it is now. BTW, you have some cutie pie grands!
doggio, your chicken casserole sounds suspiciously like the chicken version of the tuna casserole that I grew up eating on Fridays.
Congrats on the job shoe! I knew you’d ace the interview.
{{{sunny and beamette}}}
rebo, your breakfast sounds like my workday ones, only upgraded.
seanette, you may want to check into places with $10 meds (they may be $20 now). When I was diagnosed as diabetic, I was uninsured and the community clinic that served me gave me a list of meds and stores for $4 per 30 days / $10 for 90 days. It served me well until I could get insurance.
flyboy, I’m pretty good at understanding accents, given that I’ve irked for the last twenty-something years with a mini-UN of cow-orkers.
Irked, got irked by the two bigoted rednecks who work in my area. If they want to spew that crap, they really should do it on break, when people can just walk away. I’m about () from having a discussion with the supe about them.
Tomorrow is Nelson’s birthday. We went to the dog park this afternoon and will likely do it again once Friday chores are done tomorrow. Saturday, SIL and I are going to ramble for a bit after having a nice breakfast out. That means that I need to clean out the car tomorrow and once we’ve returned from the dog park, move Nelson’s car seat to the back.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
It was easier when I lived in L.A. Or maybe I was just younger. I really hate having to admit I can’t understand someone who’s talking to me. ![]()
I’m treating myself to dinner out, and getting soup’n’sandwich at a nearby diner.
Will check back in later with more, but meanwhile, I’m tired and hungry. Y’all take care, meanwhile.
SWMBO wants to see Downton Abbey which isn’t out yet. So it looks like just Japanese food tomorrow. No movie.
Evening all. Evening walk is complete, timed it this trip and it took about 20 minutes of walking, so probably close to a mile. Watched some kids playing soccer then came home for a cheeburger for dinner. Nothing much else planned, singed up to referee 3 soccer games on Saturday (get some more sunburn on top of all the dead skin peeling off). Trying to get it so I have no excess food to throw away (bread, bananas, etc) by the time I leave Wednesday.
VanGo, I’ll echo Jane the Cane’s note and maybe just take a day in bed, even if you’re bored as heck by it.
Night all and take care.
Happy Thorsday!
It was a f’ing 35 feels like 26 degrees this morning.
I debated going to the park, but I went. I didn’t last long, and there were only two people and three dogs.
I went to bed early last night, and I was sleeping deep, when my son called at 130 and woke me up. He sends me a text around 10 each night, that is their first break time and they have a pretty good idea of what time they’ll be getting done. I didn’t respond to the text, and he was worried if I was okay. Then I couldn’t get back to sleep, I was so annoyed.
I debated going to the park mostly because I thought Barky would be there, and I just don’t want the drama anymore. I’ve missed opportunities to say something, as Barky mom has commented several times that nobody is at the park anymore. How hard can it be to spit out that everybody stopped coming because of Barky?
It’s also getting to the point that I am going to have to talk to my mother’s other daughter. Both of my nieces are telling me she wants to talk, and I need to think about it. She told my mother she wants to talk about the terms of the trust and splitting the inheritance without selling everything. The terms are the terms, but I guess if everybody agrees then we can modify the terms? I don’t know. Figure we’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it. Quite honestly, I don’t really care as long as it’s fair.
Niece2’s ex is worried about where he is going to live. Niece2 should also be worried about where she is going to live. I found out from my mother that when everybody said I’d never throw my niece out of the house, it was because my sister said she would throw her out.
Congrats Shoe
Cute kitties Wheelz
Cute kiddies FCM, sorry about the car woes
Well, today got more complex and more irritating than expected. Went to CVS MinuteClinic for my appointment, nice NP got a bit freaked about BP and heart rate, insisted I go to ER. Did so, did wind up with a prescription for lisinopril. We’ll see how that goes.
