Me too!
I had no doubts about the outcome, none at all. /wipes tears of joy from eyes/
Awesome news, Shoe!!! Congrats!
I know you’re going into this with both eyes open. Enjoy the benefits of your new position and watch out for the pitfalls. You’re gonna do great!!!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Congrats! Document everything, so you’re not A.M.'s next fall guy.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 54 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. for the day and relatively non-humid as well. Today I shall achieve mowage. Da yahd is in dire need of a haircut. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to day drink afterward and admire my handiwork. I think we shall swipe The General’s sup.
{{{Sunny and Beamette}}} here’s hopin’ today is a better day.
Nellie I am sure you look FAB-U-LOUS in the dress. Besides it could always be a worse dress, like a big poufy bridesmaid dress with a ginormous butt bow.
shoe
Huge conga rats! Of course, I, like everybody else had no doubt you would be made manager. You Rock!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
wow add some longer fur and she could be the sister of the boy (deceased) and girl we have …
So shoe is the pay raise worth the hassle? as a former inventory manager and everything else I got an extra 2 bucks a day when I was awarded the title … well ok there were only 2 of us and I did 98 percent of the physical labor because she was in a wheelchair with RA but the title was for when she had someone fill in for her aka hold the money and drive lol
My mom used to cut my hair, and she’d always say “It’ll grow…” tho for someone with no training, she did a pretty good job. I won’t ask her to do it any more, tho - her eyes ain’t what they used to be. Plus I’m not going to drive 2+ hours for a free haircut. I’m not that frugal!
Waaaaaaaay back in my Navy days, I did the 1-mile (1760 yard) survival swim in an hour. I was the slowest in the class and I did it all in a modified backstroke, dressed in a flight suit, but I can truthfully say that I swam a mile… twice, in fact! Of course, there are a LOT of things I did at 24 that I’m pretty sure I can’t do at 68. I certainly couldn’t match you today!
… or not. We adopted our Dalmatian when she was older, and unfortunately, her first owner hadn’t bothered to teach her anything - she remained a bit of a wild child. Then again, that might have been her nature and why she was given up to the rescue group… But then we got Bernie from another rescue group, she was 18 months old, and the sweetest thing in the world (ask swampy!) She lived to be nearly 16.

Just don’t let all the power go to your head!!! ![]()
SIL’s PT isn’t progressing as he’d hoped, so he’s not going to work today, so I don’t have the Tobester. And I don’t have any new critter pics, but here are the world’s most adorable grands!!! ![]()
Is that lad showing attitude, or what??
Last night, FCD wisely suggested I check what I intended to wear to my nephew’s memorial. Turns out both of my appropriate outfits were from 70# ago so they kinda hung like sacks. I did find a twinset (black tank, black/white/purple jacket) that will work, but I don’t have any dark non-jeans. He has nothing at all, having gotten rid of his better clothes years ago. So after we drop off my car for repair, we’ll be off in search of proper attire. I do so hate clothes shopping, but I have it easier - all I need is a pair of black or dark gray slacks. I hope I still have a pair of black flats. Dammit.
The charger is still on my car - I’ll have FCD disconnect it just as I pull out of the garage and hope like heck that it doesn’t stall on the 21-ish mile journey to the body shop. I’m hoping that once they replace the headlight assembly and wiring, that the battery will stop draining. Maybe it’s just a coincidence - maybe my battery is shot, but that seems too… well, we shall see.
And so begins my day. Happy Thursday!!
Good morning everyone.
It’s cloudy here and the next 10 days call rainy or cloudy days with temps that won’t exceed 63 degrees. It’s definitely been a very cold and wet spring so far. Good thing I don’t grow 'maters because I think rot would have set in.
So, it’s been a few days since I posted here and read all, but didn’t retain much. Y’all have been talkative!
St. Cad, I’m very sorry about your pup.
shoe, many congrats on getting the gig! I hope a raise comes along with the added responsibility.
rebo, welcome back! I wandered in here after a long absence too and everyone was quite welcoming.
sunny, sending you and the beamette hugs!
It’s been a very busy couple of days. I had to go into the office both days. I stopped for gas on my way home the first day. I was sitting at about half a tank, but I thought it would be less painful to fill from half a tank vs a full tank. It cost me over 50 bucks to put in thirteen gallons and that was WITH a dollar a gallon discount! I have to go back to the office on Monday, but that will be the final trip for this pay period.
I suppose I should work on getting the kitchen cleaned up before I start work. I hate a messy kitchen.
Good morning all!
I’ve just eaten one of my famous (to me!) breakfast tacos. I eat one almost every morning. Breakfast sausage, potatoes, onions and peppers all browned, then add the scrambled egg mixture. So good! I make enough for three tacos. I had to make the fresh pico this morning. Sometimes it doesn’t even out!
Lola decided to start barking at NOTHING around ten o’clock last night. Ugh. I turned the floodlight on, and she would come back inside. Then I turned it off, snuggled back in bed, and just as I was dozing off she’s start up again. But I managed to sleep from 10:30-ish to 4:00 with only one pee break, so that’s not too bad.
Today is a work-from-home (WFH) day. We’ve only recently had to start going back to the office. Since our 5-person group only has two hot desks, our schedule is two of us in the office, and each one has to go in two days a week. AND we still get our 9-80 work week! My boss was very creative with the schedule, and it works well.
Congrats, shoe! May it be everything you hope it will be. My brief flirtation (30 years ago!) with being a manager was not a good fit for me. I like being a drone. ![]()
Well, I better get to it. Have a great day, Mumpers!
Morning all. Actually woke up with a thought and got the garbage out and too the curb for pickup, since if all goes according to plan I’ll be waking up in Seattle next Thursday prior to my cruise. So that is done. Still need to make ‘the list’ of things to do before I leave next Wednesday. Heading to near 80F and no rain in site until Sunday.
Rebo, Your breakfast sounds good. Am thinking about BLT’s this morning instead of my Instant Breakfast. And sounds like you boss actually puts time into doing boss things…good for you.
FCM, great picture of the two kids…made me smile at 7:30 in the morning, which takes some doing. Oh, and…
…There’s a little Fonzie “Aaayyy” there…
OK, need to check out Good Mythical Morning and then be about the day. All y’all take care.
Showered and dressed. We’ll be leaving in about an hour - I suppose I could get productive for part of that time.
I looked at Penney’s website, hoping I could order “Pick up today” but no dice. That doesn’t mean they won’t have what I want, but it was discouraging. I’m going to get FCD to stop at WalMart on our way back - if I’m lucky, I can score a pair of dark slacks there. Have I mentioned that I hate shopping for clothes? If we don’t find anything at Penney’s, we’ll have to go to Waldorf to the < gasp > maul!! Or Men’s Warehouse, which will be more than we’ll want to spend.
Clothes shopping sucks.
I’m so sorry - hugs to you, sunny & the beamette.
Congratulations, shoe!
It’s cool and 'bout to be rainy here. I didn’t sleep well at all last night - I woke up this morning, shaking, after this dream that my daughter was knitting Trump dolls and they kept coming to life in the form of babies with Trump’s head on them. I told her to please knock it off - this shop is closed when it comes to kids at this point - but she kept on knitting and I kept handing them to her dad to get them to go to sleep. We were on #3 when I woke.
Kids are off to school; the girl was super tired this morning and super sore. Her club switches to long course swimming toward the end of the school year and they’re doing 750m timed sets for qualification into the summer meets. It looks and sounds brutal. ratty, I salute you. Swimming is truly one of the most difficult sports I’ve ever encountered.
Anyway, off I go. I managed to get in a solid 3-mile waddle yesterday evening just before I needed to grab the girl from her field trip; hoping to get another one in today, but breakfast comes first. And work. Gotta work.
That’s not a dream - it’s a nightmare!!!
The brain visits weird dimensions when we sleep, does it not?
When I was in the shower, I dumped some Comet in there and scrubbed it down. And I did the terlit and sink in our bathroom, so apart from the tub in the hall bathroom, all fixtures are scrubbed, I’ll get the tub eventually - easily close to the top of my most-hated chores.
Which suddenly made me remember a fragment of a dream where we came into a lot of money, and I decided to hire people to clean the house and deal with yard work. What a wonderful dream!! And what a rude awakening… ![]()
Anyway, I also tidied the kitchen and the dishwasher is now sloshing away, not making the awful noises we had the other day. So it lives to slosh another day! We’ll be leaving in about half an hour to take my car.
I noticed that the battery charger stalls at 5 amps - I’m guessing it’s being bled off at that rate, whatever the cause. I just need to get it to Great Mills Road and it’ll be their problem! At this point, I almost wish they’d totalled it. Oh well.
Good morning! Still packing. My brother asked a family history question last night that sent me down the genealogy rabbit hole, so I didn’t finish filling suitcase.
Dang. I KNEW I shoulda kept that misdelivered pouffy prom dress with the big polka dots.
FCM, day-um, those are cute kids! Roxie looks so grown up! And the Toblerone’s expression is priceless. I’ll take one of each, please. Hope you you and FCD find appropriate duds.
wordy, what a horrible dream! Maybe your poor brain is trying to tell you it’s overwhelmed.
Me, too. I’m not what my aunt used to call “nasty neat,” but I can’t stand walking into a messy kitchen in the morning.
Rebo, that sounds yum! Much more ambitious than my standard breakfast of avocado, salsa, and egg whites on whole-grain bread.
I’ve been a manager and a drone at various times, and have had good and bad experiences on both ends. Now that I’m in the last decade or so of my working life, I’m all for taking on as little responsibility as possible. Think Kevin Spacey in American Beauty, but without all the creepy bits.
Rebo, your daily breaking of fast sounds quite good. I am much less ambitious in that department; it’s usually just a bowl of cereal and maybe a clementine on the side.
That they are
[tied with my two grands, of course] Mumper grands are da B🌟E🌟S🌟T!
Do we ever get pictures of your adorable grands?
(Yes, I realize parental permission is needed.)
Annoying to discover I may have to replace a still quite serviceable vacuum cleaner because new filters for my current one are no longer possible to get.
In absence of better ideas, I’ll probably head over to CVS MinuteClinic soon (I found them satisfactory several years ago when I had a UTI) to see about BP meds to at least get things underway until actual medical coverage kicks in June 1 and I can get to a PCP.
Heaved, came home.
Me: < walks into bathroom >
Spider: Halp.
Me: < fishes Fred out of sink >
Fred: < jumps back in >
Me: “Dammit, Fred!” < fishes Fred out of sink >
Fred: < jumps back in sink, yeets self down the drain >
Me: “FRED YOU MORON.”
I finally got him out after 30 minutes of waiting.
Yep. ![]()

After 25 years of management, I like being a drone, too.
Whee… Just had a 40-minute meeting with techies at the credit reporting company. I’d already sent them step-by-step screenshots of what I’m seeing. They requested that I send them the file that’s not uploading (one of them), which I’d already sent them three times. They found the last email with the attachment and tried to upload it on their end after I shared my screen and showed them it failing (exactly as in the screenshots in the email) in Edge and Chrome. Their attempt to upload it failed as well, and they said they’d have to work on it.
I really need practice understanding Indian accents. The woman didn’t talk much, but I couldn’t understand the guy at all. The host of the meeting had a pretty good Hispanic accent, but I could understand him. There’s a Sikh temple three miles away from the house, but I never meet any of them.
That’s one of the perks of working for a global company. I have listened to heavy Scottish accents, and Polish, Indian, Spanish, Mexican, Vietnamese, Brits of all sorts, Chinese, Japanese, Aussie - all over the world! I even understand most of them.
