CanadaDope 2017: Celebrating the Sesquicentennial - "... and loving it!"

Yeh, Ignatieff was a big WTF move by the Liberals.
Add that to the list:
No reality TV celebrities
No expats

I’m not sure leaving a party you weren’t invited to and we’re welcome at and none of the other guests like you is exactly “quitting,” which sort of implies a voluntary move.

When Ignatieff was trumpeted (later crowned) as the Liberal savoir he, at least, quit his job and moved to Canada; O’Leary signed up for another season of Shark Tank! Crazy that he was even polling so high among the Tory base.

I saw a clip on CBC from “Still Standing” for the upcoming show in Fort MacMurray with Johnny Harris. He said something like, “boy talk about oilers versus flames.”
Very clever!

If Stephen Harper’s Minister of Defense had lied the way Harjit Sajjan did, the din of outrage would be deafening.

Absolutely. And not just once, but twice.

Any respect he would have had with the military is essentially lost at the very least. There is nothing so special as a boss that takes credit for other’s work.

I’m consulting that noted tax advisor, Alexander Keith, before going back into the fray.

I had to wait until all the procrastinating Easterners finished accessing their data from the CRA website, but it finally let me back on, in the slot for procrastinating prairie folks.

Filed and I’m off to bed.

When I saw that you had posted, Northern Piper, I thought it would have been to state that tonight, the Regina Pats won their playoff series against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Pats are in the WHL final, and the 'Canes…well, time to sharpen golf skills, I guess.

Never mind. Lethbridge went a long way in the playoffs (longer than I can remember, anyway), and played well. Great job, 'Canes!

I’ve never been a fan of arguments, going either way, that “If someone of Party X had done this, the popular reaction would be …”

That doesn’t sound to me like he’s getting an easy ride, or that the press is ignoring it. This story is still developing.

I’ve not really been following the playoffs. I knew that the Pats had struggled back from a 3-1 deficit in the last round, which was very impressive.

Of course, the facts have actually gotten worse since I posted that, which I sure didn’t expect.

It’s now come out that, in addition to lying about his role in speeches abroad, Sajjan may have lied about his role in the other direction to the Ethics Commissioner.

The hell is it with this guy?

The thing is, he was a respected soldier. He had no need to lie, yet he did. And yes, if this was a Conservative minister the press would be in a frenzy.

He said he made a mistake. This was not a mistake; it was an all out lie.

It’s now pretty standard for politicians of all stripes to use the word “mistake” for deliberate acts of malice, dishonesty, criminal behaviour and treachery. We’re entering a post-truth age.

The deliberate act of malice was not a mistake, that was done, well, deliberately, and in fact the reason the candidate ran for office in the first place. Doing it in such a careless manner as to get caught was the mistake.

As Dilbert’s Wally said, when accused of abuse of power, “For what other reason would anyone want power?”

^Huh?
