Ah, Cranky, I knew you were a woman of taste and refinement. I could probably scare up some Tastycakes for you, too.
I know I can get you Hershey-ets, Kallessa. I’m not sure about the eggs, though. I’ve never seen them outside the Easter season, although they might drag them out for special promotions. I’ll look for them when I go to Chocolate World.
Hmmm… what’s on the West Coast? I’d take some See’s lollipops in butterscotch and chocolate. Those things are just too wonderful (and they ship nicely in hot weather, too. :))
Robin
MsRobyn, I pass a See’s every night on my way home from work, so I can get you lollipops any time you want. Yum!
Well if anyone has a craving for any particular UK sweeties just let me know. I can offer some Kendal mintcake, how about that?
And I’m not exactly sure what a twinkie is but I’ve always wanted to try one.
I’d be happy (ecstatic, really) to exchange whatever US delicacy you crave and can’t find for some…
St. Michael’s (M&S) Fruit Gums (not wine gums).
Any takers?
FGMFN, you’re shorting yourself if all you want is a Twinkie. But I’ll be happy to oblige with Twinkies AND genyooowine New Awlins pecan pralines if you’ll make me die happy with a Cadbury’s Bourneville. We won’t start on the digestive biscuits, it’s too painful to not have a regular supply of them…
And Hello Again, our local Rite-Aid now carries FIVE varieties of Cadbury’s – Milk, Dark, Fruit & Nut, Almond, and Caramello. [drool smiley]
Five? Five!? You want me to count five measly Cadbury bars against the bounteous Cadbury goodness available in the UK (also Canada).
But, actually, I don’t care for the solid bars… the chocolate is too milky. Give me a Crunchie anyday. I’d be interested to know if Cadbury’s makes anything in dark chocolate.
Please somebody be my candy-exchange friend?
Count me in too. I’d love to get some non-U.S. treats, in return for some Texas-sized goodness!
I can offer, off the top of my head, standard U.S. stuff, Texas sized jellybeans, REAL good salsa (I know, not candy), Dr. Pepper made with cane sugar (only available around Waco), cinnamon pecans, various Mexican sodas and candies, umm, I can’t think of what else we have that’s unique in Texas, but any thing you want, I can get. I will hunt up lots of Texas goodness for some primo continental snackage.
If you were willing to go beyond candy, I can get lots of snack foods that aren’t common in other parts of the world and the U.S. Lots of jalapeno, or chile-lime, or similar flavored snacks. Chile lime doritos anyone?
We tried to do this a few months back, and it sort of died. It came from the lack of availability of dulce de leche M&Ms. (which I can provide to anyone who doesn’t have access to them.)
I’ve always wanted to try a … Tim Tam?
Is that what they’re called? An Australian cookie?
Anyhow if any Aussies want something American, let’s hook up.
Ummm… if anyone is making up a list I’m in. I can trade has all the Cadbury stuff, as well as the Whittaker’s range (really good chocolate bars with nuts), Violet Crumble, Smarties, wine gums, white chocolate with jellybeans, and chocolate marshmellow fish.
Hello Again, I keep the Cadbury’s dark chocolate bars regularly by my bedside. My all-purpose cure for what ails you: dark chocolate and a trashy novel.
Okay, who’s goin to start making the list??? This thread is making me HUNGRY!!
::DROOL:: Hey Mama Tiger, got a craving for any West Coast goodies? Sees comes to mind immediately; there’s a British imports store where I can find many of the UK candies mentioned above, Mexican candy from Olvera St., Mexican chocolate, prickly-pear jelly, sweet tamales (dunno how I’d send those, but I’m sure there’s a way), umm…
I’ve spent the last two years trying to find a bag of caramel M&M’s. Maybe bribery is the way to go. I don’t know about regional candy, but I’ll send a can of Moxie soda to anyone who’ll send me a bag of caramel M&M’s.
I also have some Dr Brown’s CelRay soda. I’ll send a can of that to anyone who’ll drink it.
I’m trying to think of what kind of treats are exclusively New England (or Rhode Island for that matter.) We’ve got coffee syrup for all you coffee milk addicts–this is a craving I’ve never understood, personally, but hey, whatever blows your skirt up
UK Doper here willing to send most anything British.
Looking for sweets: Hot Tamales, Zots, Sugar Babies or Sugar Daddies, Abazaba (peanut butter), Bottle Caps, Circus Peanuts, Marshmallow Creme…
And savoury: Jerky, biltong (sp?), kosher dill pickles (deli type) - big juicy scrummy pickles…
yes i’m pregnant, can you tell?
Mama Tiger - how do those pecans come (bag, tin)??? I’ll happily attemt to send you some Bournevilles (mind the heat) in exchange for some of them pecans… :: drool ::
Cinnamon pecans, Hugh Jass??? Scrummy!
OK, it does appear things have sorted themselves out over the weekend. So Ill pop in with mine. Any dopers with access to Musk lifesavers: I will exchange a bag of Cherry Mash bars for some Musk lifesavers (I assume you can get a large bag of the little rolls like we can). Alternately, I can get any other US candy you’d like for the most part, or soft drinks.
So, Moma Tiger does that mean you are my candy exchange partner? If yes, email me (its in my profile).
Okay, guys, howza bout this:
I think maybe we need to put together a list of what everyone is looking for. We post that list, then figure out who has access to it. That might be a good way to match people up (in other words, who you send to may not necessarily be who you get from).
What do you think?
If you think that will work, I will volunteer to gather up what everyone is looking for. Then I can post the list, and y’all can let me know what you have access to.
Thoughts???
Go for it!
I volunteer to send someone Mexican candies and treats!
Just to whom ever I get: let me know if chile is ok. A lot of mexican candies have chile as an ingredient.
As for my requests, I have none. I love surprises!
