Candy Exchange anyone?

I’m jonesing Bonomo Turkish Taffy. MUST be Banana Flavored. Yes, that atrociously faux banana flavoring, circa 1971. You eat that stuff, you are INSTANTLY listening to Elton John.

Not like that’s a bad thing, mind you.

( A moment of silence for the inventor of Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy, his obit is the link above…

…thank you. Carry on )

Cartooniverse

I think I’m sorted.

Hugh Jass and I will be send each other munchies this next week. Oooh, I can hardly wait!

Cheers matey!

Scout – sounds like a plan. I’m looking for See’s suckers – can provide TastyCakes and/or Goldberg’s Peanut Chews (ex Philly types will know what I’m talking about).

Why has nobody mentioned Coffee Crisp? My Canadian brothers and sisters, if anybody can hook a puppy up with a few of those, I will send you whatever your sweet-tooth desires from the greater NYC area.

Washte, genyooowine Nawlins pralines are pecans in a melted and then hardened goo of brown sugar/butter/cream and assorted other artery hardeners. They look like flat cookies* except that they’re kinda crumbly because they’re basically pure sugar. Truly sinful.

What can anyone else offer me for pralines? Or any other New Orleans culinary goody you simply can’t live without and can’t get in your area – any one of the ten million or so hot sauces, gumbo filé, Community or CDM coffee, beignet mix? Sorry, it’s not crawfish season. Or anything else you crave and can’t find locally, like the 27 varieties of Zatarain’s rice or gumbo mixes?
*biscuits to the British

Okee doke.

I’m going to peruse the list y’all have posted and come up with a list of what everyone wants. If there’s anything else out there you’ve got a hankering for, let’s hear it.

I’ll get it all together in one post so it’s easier to read, and then try and figure out who has access to it. For that I’ll probably need you all to report back, check the list, and see what you have access to.

Man, I hope this works. This could get confusing…
[sub]please, be gentle with me![/sub]

Boy this thread is making me hungry!

If there is anything from the South anybody would like, let me know and I’ll do my best to get it for you.

I desperatly miss MacIntosh toffee. I don’t think there is anything exactly regional to wisconsin, but there are a couple of Chocolatiers here that are pretty good.

Ohmygosh, Coffee Crisp. I am so glad my in-laws are Canadian and completely sympathetic to my Addiction. Every time I go to visit I come home with Large Amounts of Coffee Crisp, thanks to my MIL.

And anyone wanting pickles of any sort, including Kosher Dills (which you can order in any size from “Deli Size” to Baby Dill) I highly recommend checking out http://www.sechlerspickles.com. Price list and shipping charges are listed on this page: http://www.sechlerspickles.com/pages/prices.html. It appears they do ship internationally, but you have to contact them directly to find out how much it’ll cost you.

If you want your name added to any of the “wants” please let me know. If you can be a source for anything on the list, let me know that, too. I didn’t include Washte’s list, because it sounds like she’s already found her source. You can either post here, or email me. Corrections are welcome if I’ve inadvertantly misassigned you to any foodstuff.

Thanks, scout, for taking this this far.
I can almost taste the fruitgums!

I’m also in the Philly area and, like twickster, can also provide regional goodies like TastyKakes and Goldenberg Peanut Chews.
Also, Goetze’s Caramel Creams - they seem to be fairly regional - if anyone wants them.

I’d offer to send cheesesteaks and pretzels, but I don’t think they travel well!

(P.S. to twickster; Ya gotta know it’s TastyKakes, Krimpets and Kandy Kakes - all with a “K” )

:smack:

All right guys - anyone else? Can you provide anything on the list? We’ve got some sugar-deprived Dopers that still don’t have a source for their joneses.

From a glance at the list, I can certainly provide Twinkies (and any other epicurean delight that Hostess bakes.) When I was at the store the other day I noticed Toffeefay (sp?), and Watchamacallits, oh, and PopRocks–haven’t seen those around in a while. So if you have a craving for any of the above, email me and I can send some sugary goodness you way

Hey scout, I can provide the following:

-Sees Candies, any type
-Mexican candy, or just about anything Mexican for that matter
-British and Australian import candies (Smarties, liquorice allsorts, Violet Crumble, name it and I’ll ask the local Brit-imports store)
-Anything indigenous to the West Coast

Argghh! Stupid hamsters ate my post!

Anywho, sorry, I can’t find the Cadbury Bourneville bars (there is a cocoa brand called “Bourneville”, but I think that’s the wrong one).

Oh, and I’ve got access to the Aussie Tim Tams (all varieties).

Also put me down for some Twinkies and taffy.

Speaking of taffy – I’ll be downtheshore next week, if anyone wants genuine salt-water taffy (no, no salt in it, just filling-extracting chewy goodness).

I’d be happy to send some chocolate (dark, milk or white) covered popcorn from a local chocolatier here in Texas for some weird chocolate treat from elsewhere (those Violet Crumbles sound good…) Choco-covered popcorn is an amazing blend of sweet and ever-so-salty that is quite yummy. Though I can’t guarantee it will arrive unmelted… hmm, maybe this might be a better thing to do when it cools off some.

Is there any guidelines on quanity (mass or $?), or is it just one bar?

These are readily available in Canada. I’m going on vacation but could provide them in a few weeks.

malteasers (lauramarlane)

Cadbury Crunchy (Hello Again)
Coffee Crisp (happy scrappy hero pup)

We have victory V’s too, called fisherman’s friends here. We do not have (UK) aniseed balls, Uncle Joe’s mint balls, worcestershire flavoured potato sticks (those great Walker’s snacks) or (US) fruit stripe bubble gum, fat free pringles (or any olestra stuff), or dulce M&Ms. McDonald’s here is selling Pop Rock milkshakes.
