I doubt the hospital will treat him any longer than legally required. Earlier press said he used insanity to get out of one criminal charge years ago. Maybe they can use his mental state to keep him hospitalized for awhile. Otherwise I can’t see him living on the streets, abusing alcohol, and properly changing bandages, taking the necessary medicine, heck just taking care of himself. His lifestyle on the streets (for thirty plus years) doesn’t make him a good candidate for a face transplant our other major surgery.
He’s obviously had a very hard life and many problems. He didn’t need something like this. I wonder if he’ll ever be capable of taking care of himself again.
He’s at one of the best hospitals in the country (Jackson Memorial Hospital), there are donationfunds set up to help him, and supposedly Dade County is also going to contribute a big chunk, so hopefully he will receive ample care.
There’s a video of the whole thing, but it’s more heartbreaking than it is graphic because it’s partially blocked, shot from a distance, and fuzzy. Towards the end, after the police response (which took an infuriating and depressing 18 minutes from the first call) someone takes control of the camera and zooms in, but you still can only see the naked legs of the two men - one dead and lifeless after being shot, and the other bloody and occasionally squirming. It’s very unsettling, but still nothing extremely graphic. I’m going to link it, not for any shock-value, but in hopes it may move some to donate.
