Ryle, you’re online now, let us know you are there. Lots of really fantastic people care about you, let them know you’re there. How about an RU??

Hey Ryle. 54-year old geezer here. You don’t know me, but I want you to do me a little favour. Don’t cost anything, won’t hurt much and, who knows, some good might come of it.
Stick around with us a bit longer, ok? We promise we’ll listen. We might step in sometimes, with pieces of advice. But, that’s what they’ll be: pieces of advice. Not instructions or directives. You do whatever you want with them. If they seem sensible to you, you act on them. If not, just stay tuned. Something’s BOUND to come up eventually that you think might be cool for you…
Deal?

Siege, I was just wondering who the “proper authorities” you contacted (according to NoClueBoy) were. I seem to run into more than my “fair share” of suicidal folk online. Just seemed like good info to have on hand, should I ever need it. My email is in my profile, if you’d rather not post it here.

Just so you know, Ryle, I apolgise for my first posts in this thread. I was playing around, but I didn’t know how much you’re hurting.

Now, I do.

ftr, all Siege told me was that you are serious about this. She didn’t give me ANY personal information that you may have confided to her, ok? So, nothing to be embarrassed about.

You are safe here. Your worries are now our worries.

Call.

Or, maybe you don’t want to talk in person. Online is fine, too.
Oh, and do this, too:
Just postpone it. Give yourself some time to think real deeply about this. Man, sometimes some of my worst problems have looked totally different after finally falling asleep and getting some rest.

Not that the morning made any problems dissappear, they just looked different ot me then

Hey Ryle, you said at the top of this page that you were looking for some input from people who have been down the road you are travelling at the moment.

We’re here mate.

Just so you know, some of the earlier responses weren’t really meant to you. Some people get real scaredand nervous when someone talks about ending their life.

it’s not a reaction to you. But to a situation that scares or un-nerves them.
What’s it like in San Rafael right now? Is it hot? If it’s California and Summer, it sure might be.

It’s really hot here in the OKC. Over 100 today. You ever been to Oklahoma?
Hi, Kambutka! Howdy, Omni-not!

What kambuckta said Ryle.

Do you Yahoo?

MSN’s Instant Messenger?

Would you prefer that format?

Ryle, the reason why I said the things I said, about how you have to step back from message boards (or at least negative threads) when you’re in a bad way, is because I know what it’s like. I’ve fought depression for decades. A friend’s wife lost her fight against it last week and killed herself, and I know from experience of feeling that way that it seems like it’s the best thing, but in the end, it’s such a fucking waste of a wonderful human being. And yeah, I mean you in addition to the woman I’m talking about, even though I know you’ll probably laugh bitterly at the thought, because I have in the past. That’s why I said you gotta step back from rough threads when you’re feeling so awful. Everything that’s posted comes across as a knife in the chest, as another justification for how shitty you’re feeling, when that ain’t the case at all.

Nothing we say here is any kind of justification for killing yourself. The weight of our words feels like lead, but it’s nothing at all, it’s hot air. It’s the disease that warps everything that happens and hurts you with it.

The last two entries in my LiveJournal (check my www link below) - as of today, Sunday - are about her death, about how depression and other mental illnesses are judged. It might help you to read them, and to know how damned many people here fight depression (there’s a link on it in MPSIMS or IMHO, I forget which). Just trust me, back off of controversial threads right now. Don’t let them get into your head and drag you down. Your illness - my illness - grabs hold of all the bad stuff going on, magnify it beyond comprehension, and use it to suck you down like you’re trying to swim with chains tied around your legs. You need to fight it. You owe it to yourself, because you can beat this and have a decent life. Not all of us lose the fight.

Ryle, you made this old fart (b. 1959) revisit some really old shit in her life and get a more control over it today. You helped me today, Ryle, don’t stop now, other people need your input. DON"T STOP HELPING PEOPLE NOW, please.

You wanna hear a story?

Does it have a happy ending, NoClue?

yes

Go for it NoClueBoy.

LOL. Well, then, what are you waiting to lay it on us?!?:wally

Not to interupt the story or anything, but has anyone heard anything from Ryle in the last 3 hours?:frowning:

on Cecil’s Place

Ack! OK, could you point the way to Cecil’s place?

And alice, no, I don’t think anyone’s heard from him. We’re hoping he’s lurking for the time being.

He’s been posting on Cj’s Cecil’s place site, iming with Agentfroot and teletron notified the authorities than can help where Ryle lives.
Teletron, check your e-mail.

Ryle, you may be surfing here invisible, that’s ok.

I just got of the phone with Siege (CJ) and she really wants to see you come out of this intact. She’s a real nice woman. And Agent froot really cares deeply, too.

You have made an impact here on some very dear people. Stick around, and see what comes from it.
