Donovan was the sheriff didn’t let the Carnivale put on their normal show, so Sampson and Company found religion. His mother refused healing from Ben (in the crowded tent) and then died.
When I watched the episode for the second time, that’s when I caught on to that. My question is, how did Stroud figure out to go there for a hint on where to find Scudder?
I have no answer for that either. I remember seeing Stroud at Ben’s demolished home. I don’t know how he connected the dots from there to Donovan.
Yeah, that was a stretch, wasn’t it? Even if Brother Justin is guiding Stroud, how did BJ know about Donovan? If BJ is that powerful, he can just go find Ben himself, can’t he?
I do believe there’s something about Brother Justin leading Stroud, but remember–the Scholar told him that he needed to kill Scudder to become the Prophet. Justin is getting the visions/dreams of Ben, but he doesn’t know who that is (yet), so he wouldn’t know to send Stroud to him.
It looks rather like a big, fat plot hole… with bells on it.
Ah well… I’ll forgive them for this one.
Towards the end of the last episode we see brother justin getting tattooed by an asian lady.
Last night’s episode sure raised the creep factor. Shades of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and that inbred family from X-Files. Ew. Very creepy.
In the previews for next week, we see someone sitting in a chair, with his (her?) back to us. Anyone else think that voice sounded a bit like Management’s?
Looks like Sofie might give in and start to read Tarot. I don’t get her aversion to it. It’s not likely she’ll be giving bad news to everyone she reads for, and it’s an honest living, as far as work in this carny goes.
Maybe I’m being insensitive, but if it was me, I’d do it, especially since it appears that someone is insisting. She really doesn’t have a choice.
We’re sorry! You’ve requested a page on HBO.com that has moved or no longer exists.

Well, we know BJ is becoming A tettooed man, but methinks there is another already extant, and that there’s a special symbolism there we must uncover…

Hooked on Carnivale
Sure doesn’t LOOK like a spirit…
Not like other spirits we’ve seen so far.
But if he’s real live… how? who? Management?
And why does he appear then just split? Like run away so people even follow him?
OK, OK, he’s “special,” we know… but == ???
OK. Guide me.
Why did Brother Justin coerce (we can’t say persuaded) his sister into turning herslef in for the fire that killed the kids???
What benefit is there for him?
(I’m so holy I turned in my own family?) I don’t buy it.
Yet from his behaviour, with Dolan, it looks like he’s working on clearing his own name…
WTF?
Does anyone know how many episodes there will be in Season 2 and/or when the season will end?
Sorry if I duplicated a previous question. I searched for Carnivale and at least scanned all the results, but if the answer to this is buried somewhere I probably missed it because I’m several episodes behind and I didn’t want to run across any inadvertant spoilers!
The HBO website doesn’t say (at least not where I could find it). There were 12 episodes in the first season, so maybe we can assume there will be 12 in the second. We’ve seen 7 so far, so maybe 5 more?
Doesn’t Deadwood start March 6? And doesn’t it replace Carnivale? If so, I guess that would me two more episodes.
Also, that would be two more episodes.
HBO is pushing Carnivale to the 10pm/9 central time slot when Deadwood debuts on the 6th. I think the Carnivale season runs through the last Sunday of March so we’ve got some time to go.
Sundays in March are going to be very enjoyable…
