DH seems to be making good progress. With medical approval, he’s even tried unaided walking over a short distance. We’re still taking the wheelchair and his cane to the company picnic tomorrow, though. He’s not up to walking much distance, even with the cane (thrift stores can be very good sources for things like this).
He says his right leg (the unbroken one) bothers him more than the left does currently. I think it’s because his right leg is carrying a larger share of the load than it’s used to because he’s compensating for the injured leg. IIRC, medical professionals I mentioned that theory in front of seemed to agree with me.
I can only hope I figure out any tricks to loading a folded wheelchair into the back seat of a four-door sedan, though. I feel like I stressed my back and arthritic hips a bit yesterday loading and unloading for the day’s excursions.
It’s been a long time since my weekend was the official weekend, feels a bit odd.
I’m gonna have to be organised this year, there looks to be a lot of assignments, all quite long and complicated, and this year counts for most of the grade. It’s OK if I send all my assignments to Sari for proofreading though, right?
Anyway, I should head out; I need to go attend to the bees and pick up a parcel at the post office. It looks like heavy rain all afternoon, so I’d better get a move on before that arrives.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear (as opposed to murky?) with a predicted high of 95 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today young muscle shall appear to help with movin’ some stuff back in place here at da cave. This will be followed by beer, pizza, and cee-mint pond time. Bein’ as 'tis still Summer in these parts we can still do cee-mint pond time.
Nuts that’s a great idea. Sari lives to proofread.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Woke at 4, tried repeatedly to fall back to sleep, and finally gave up a bit after 6 (and a couple of dozes.) When **FCD **drags his butt out of bed, we’re going to breakfast, then to Staples to pick up some stuff he left for printing and binding.
Apart from the usual laundry and critter fountain, I’m going to work on one little section of the back yard where debris is poking thru the soil. I know where it’s from and really, I should have cleared it up a couple of years ago, but it was buried a wee bit, so I could ignore it. Alas, that’s no longer the case. Fortunately, it’s a relatively small area. I think…
No park as the park is closed this morning for the Color Splash event. I doubt I will go when it opens at 1, likely to be crowded and hot by then.
Ripple isn’t bugging me to go, he seems content to have played with Echo and is now chewing on her cow’s hoof.
I should be outside doing yard irk while it is cool, supposed to get up close to 90 today. I’m still sore from all the irk I did the other day. All I need to do is gather everything up into a pile until I decide what to do with it.
I wish the neighbor would come get what he wants.
I sat outside with the pups for a bit this morning. Echo is napping now.
Ripple is being a brat lately, he goes outside and won’t come back in. I don’t know if it is a reaction to the puppy or if he is just enjoying the cooler weather.
I had to bribe him with a piece of cheese this morning.
Nuts, I will proofread for you. Can’t guarantee I will catch everything, but I’m not so bad at it. As much practice as I’ve had you’d think I’d be perfect at it by now.
Red - I will try your idea, I usually have Ripple on the retractable, but he has a regular leash I can use. I don’t know how I got Ripple used to the leash, I don’t remember him fighting it the way Echo does. I hope I get to a place where I can walk both of them together.
I think I need to get another dog bed. I thought they would share. It is big enough for both of them, but Ripple has no interest in cuddling up.
I have lots to do today, so I should be getting it done.
Nou, nou, nou, your side ouf the pound tends tou add extra 'ewe’s tou wourds.
Woke up with the alarm at 5am but was able to roll back over because, as expected, the winds were too fast to fly.
No, unfortunately. When this house was built, the construction debris was buried around the house. When we had some of it excavated for a paved slab, the excavated dirt was spread (at our direction) around the yard. That’s what’s showing up - scraps of aluminum siding, bits of ceramic tiles, some glass shards - stuff that should have gone to the dump, but didn’t. When I was doing some work in a garden bed in the front of the house, I found similar stuff, plus some metal tubing and gutter scraps. What a mess!!
We found out from a long-time county resident that the builder in this neighborhood cheaped out on a lot of things. For example, our interior walls are all 2X3 rather than 2X4 studs, and the exterior walls are 2X4s, which is why we put up insulated siding. Apparently the codes in the county were different in 1975.
**Spidey **- do you know that if you hit the Go Advanced button under the reply box, you can preview your post before you post it? That way you can catch typoze and not have to do an edit.
You’re welcome.
Meanwhile, cat box is scooped and first load is in the washer. It’s overcast and icky out, so today is a dryer day, dammit. I’ll miss the fresh line-dried scent but such is life, I guess.
When **FCD **stopped at Staples, I went into Michael’s, which is conveniently next door. They had 14 oz skeins of yarn for $4.99, so I got half a dozen. I can make that my donation to AARP and their supported groups. Plus it’ll give me more to do. Because I’m nice, dammit!! Meanwhile, nary a response to my local posts requesting yarn donations. It was a shot in the dark anyway.
Mooooom, back in the olden days, in the small town where I grew up, folks would bury/burn their trash somewhere on their lot. Whenever we would plow up the patch for the kitchen garden, all sorts of stuff would come up. For whatever reason, there was at least one Evening of Paris bottle that resurfaced every year.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels and sheets in the wash, ready for the dryer, puppy crate cleaned and ready to do KP before purtifying and going to get groceries.
**Red **- the folks we bought this place from used to burn their garbage in the woods on the lot. I came across stuff like partially burned roller-type window shades, broken light bulbs, rusty cans… you get the idea. There was also one tree trunk that was really singed - a trash fire that got out of control, I suspect. When we took possession, there were 11 trash cans left for us, some partially filled!
I understand not wanting to pay the ridiculous cost of trash pickup in this county, but the convenience center is less than 6 miles away and it’s free! Fortunately, we didn’t have little kids in the woods at that time, and I think we cleaned the worst of it up. When Roxy starts exploring back there, we’ll see, tho we pretty much left the wooded area to grow wild again. I swear, these people pruned and raked almost 2 acres for some reason - there was nothing back there. We’ve let Mother Nature have that part of the yard.
Anyway, I just need to get the lift down from my flat then nip through t’ginnel to the car park, making sure to stay on the pavement off the road, so I can get my courgettes, marmite and aubergines out of the car boot, then I’m off to have a cheeky Nando’s.
(OK, so I won’t, it’s raining, we only have stairs, my parking spot’s right outside, I already brought my shopping in, plus there’s no Nando’s within 20 miles, but still…)
I should be irking faster so I can get more done.
Not that it matters because irk is never done anyway.
I’m probably going to go to Baltimore tomorrow to visit a friend, taking both pups with me.
I’m going to leave my son a list of things to do, although I think he should go with me.
I’m debating stopping by the armpit since I am going that way.
Afternoon all. Still alive but not thrilled, was out doing soccer stuff (coach three games, referee 1) between 8am and 2pm. With no rain the ground is like concrete and the temperature this afternoon was 96F. Outside of taking a long bath, I forsee no activity on this end before tomorrow.
Real all of the aobve but brain cells are too fried to respond, so hugs, laughs, groans and ‘dammit Spidey’s’ as required.
Howdy Y’all! Stuff got moved and pizza, beer and quality cee-mint pond time was had. Everyone is gone and we are inside where 'tis cool. It’s 96 Amurrkin out with a heat index of a hunnert!
