I can’t figure Charlie out. It seems like we’ve been presented with two options. Either Charlie is very coy with his responses and he’s just putting us all on. Or he’s a bit daft. This isn’t with just advice threads, but even with commentary about TV shows and movies, etc.
If he’s trolling us, he’s one clever troll, because it comes across very sincere. And he’s very consistent with his act. So I’m more convinced that it’s not an act and he’s just a bit daft.

Charlie is indeed something else, although exactly what remains a mystery. Some of his posts suggest that he’s a particularly nasty 10-year-old delinquent whose parents don’t know that he’s trolling the Internet, and if so he certainly has a future as a reprobate when he grows up. Or he might be a bitter old man with mental health problems. Who knows. Who cares. My only problem is when he invades a serious discussion for the sole purpose of thread-shitting. In those cases Charlie’s participation is about as welcome as a severe outbreak of genital herpes. And about as useful.
He’s a troll and this type of posting is part of his schtick.
I remember when he changed. He linked to it once and I don’t remember where and when it was.
Basically he got a couple of warnings close together for being a dick to people outside of the Pit. Then he promised he would change his ways. From then on every post of his I have come across, besides the anti-women ones, have been of the type your quoting and the type that Mernieth quoted.
He is so over the top nice and helpful but he is either just wrong and stupid, like in Mernieths post, or he purposely misreads posts and then responds to his misreading like in your post.
I think in the anti-women posts he’s just straight trolling knowing it will piss of Lady Dopers.

I have a theory that Charlie Wayne and Bullitt are the same poster.
Recent thread by HoneyBadgerDC about getting angry when people don’t listen to him, even when he has knowledge of the subject being discussed. Charlie Wayne chimes in initially wondering if HoneyBadgerDC’s problem might be that the conversation was over the telephone and if different genders may have resulted in the problem. Then HoneyBadgerDC responds that no it’s normally male only conversations that this problem occurs, but describes a situation where his wife had previously taken someone else’s side. Which prompts Charlie Wayne to drop this sexist gem:

The confusing thing is the posters in the ATMB thread defending his cruel treatment by the mods. I don’t blame the mods one bit for being a little slow in their response to him.
To the people defending him: are you not aware of his posting history? Whether he’s daft or a troll, can you not imagine how sick of dealing with him the mods must be by now?

Yeah, I’m aware. So what? I don’t give as fuck who you are–I expect the mods to treat everyone without personal bias. Either the decision they made is right or it is wrong: how annoying the guy is has no relevance.
And you are misrepresenting the thread. People aren’t upset he had to wait. They’re upset at the answer he got. They disagree, and so they are saying so. To say any more would probably run afoul of Pit rules.
I’ll admit I mostly feel sorry for him, but I understand people wanting to Pit him. I’ve gotten mad at him, too. But I find it hard to stay mad at these “alien encountering hew-mon” types.
I should have been clearer - I was confused why some people were defending him. I’m not at all confused why you defend him.
