"cheating" at sex...paranoid

Right. I was assuming that the symptoms of “spotting” are often indistinguishable from ovulation (as I’ve read that they are, but have no personal experience with).

Jesus, stop scaring the kid for no good reason.

He’s a teenager.

He screwed up.

They got scared.

She’s not pregnant.

People come here for the facts, and the fact is she could still be pregnant.

Your point, charitably, is that most people will disregard the small chance that what seems like a period ain’t a period. Fine. I would venture to say that after what seems like a period, most adults wouldn’t follow-up with a pregnancy test. But $8 is a small price to pay as a teenager to be extra-sure.

Chance of getting someone pregnant with preejaculate: ?
Chance of getting someone pregnant one day after their period: ?
Chance of getting a period while pregnant: ?

Now, I’m no statistician… But if anyone is looking to place bets, let me know.

If I’ve anywhere implied that the chance isn’t vanishingly small, please point it out.

From what I’ve heard (never experienced it), spotting is more like a little bit of bleeding in between periods. (Or in between nothing, if you’re preggers.)

Considering that he never ejaculated inside her, there were no other instances besides this sexual encounter, AND the fact that she’s gotten her period, it’s pretty freaking unlikely you’ve got anything to worry about.

I don’t think that’s accurate. It isn’t particularly uncommon for women to have what they mistake to be a period during pregnancy. Cite

He re-inserted himself after ejaculation, I think there’s a fair chance of sperm being present in that case.

random question-

If I was worrying about a condom breaking could I use 2 condoms?(one on top of each other)?
I know it would take away from the “intimacy” but if one broke the other one would be there…
Please let me know.

No, don’t do that. It’s not any safer than one condom, and could be LESS safe, because the two condoms would tend to stick to each other and come off, rather than breaking.

Unbroken,

Since you’re clearly killing time online (why else come to SDMB? … oh right–the pursuit of KNOWLEDGE!), I would recommend (as others did earlier in the thread) spending a few hours at Go Ask Alice.

Many more excellent sex questions and answers (questions from confused young’ns just like yourself, asking all the same questions you have).

Barely relevant anecdote: The first time I ejaculated (maybe?) while awake was with a girl. This was soon before I turned 16. But I still knew when it was about to happen. I knew that stuff was supposed to come out, and I could certainly tell when it was about to.

I don’t think it’s that strange. How do you know how to simulate something that you’ve never done? Besides, I had heard that it felt good, but I had no idea just how good.

(After that night, my productivity went way down as I spent much of my time trying to recreate that feeling.)

Don’t forget the duct tape at the base.

I wonder what ‘actual sex’ would have involved

Haha.

Seriously though, for future safety is there any more precautions to take when using a condom other than proper use??
thanks for all the help in this thread.

Using a condom alone will significantly reduce any chance of pregnancy or STD. For regular use it should stay on without using an additional means to hold it (when I was young and first started using a condom I wouldn’t have sex without holding the end with my hand, that made sex a little… more difficult).

It is not a bad idea for your girlfriend to look into birth control as well. Of course someone can come along and say there is no such thing as 100% certainty that there is no risk in pregnancy, which is true, but if you love your girlfriend and she loves you then you should… naw, I’m getting out of GQ area.

And folks, if you can’t afford condoms, you certainly can’t afford to be pregnant.

The pill would be a great start.
Also, look into “spermicidal jelly”.
Googling that term should give you some decent links.

“Proper use” covers a lot of ground. But some less obvious things:

  • Don’t keep the condom in your wallet. You don’t want it to get all beat up waiting for use.

  • Use extra lube. It never hurts (ha!) and reducing friction reduces the likelihood that the condom will break.
Mr. Slant: Do they even make spermicidal jelly anymore? I thought nonoxynol-9 had been pulled from the market. Are there other spermicides out there?

Whooops. You may be right. Honestly, I’ve been relying on birth control pills for half a decade on so. I don’t shop in that section of the drug store anymore.
